Alot of people have had a conversation about the pipe dream of going back in time and living in the colonial days, or the medieval days. I just had that conversation with a customer, who was saying that he'd like to go back to the days of the Revolutionary War to live because he is fascinated with American history, and would love to be a part of it. That is an interesting thought, and it could be cool if it were possible, but think about this...Its scorching hot today. Could you imagine coming from this time and arriving in that time? No air conditioners, and it would likely be hotter in the buildings than it would be outside. Also, we are accustomed to taking 1 to 2 showers a day. Those people didn't. We wouldn't last a week in that time during the summer!

Actually, it was always cooler inside than out, just obviously not as cool as we have it.
Being a true Mountain man by nature, I think winters in the Mountains would be much tougher than hot summers actually. Would include some pretty savage shoulders from cutting and splitting so much firewood  -
I'd make it and be fine.. so would most folks. Do you think we wouldn't adapt? What do you think happens down here when we lose power for weeks after a hurricane?

Back then cities didn't sprawl over the place, roads were narrower, and there were no such things as parking lots. The ambient temperature was lower.
I think that the thing to worry about in Florida at that time is if the Calusa were still there, although their numbers were ravaged by then. They left just before 1776 so is it the general era or after that date? -
When they put together the Declaration of Independence our forefathers were so nervous about British spies they closed all the windows in the room on one of the hottest days of the year, they had to be just brutal wearing those wigs and the clothing they wore of that day, the stuff was heavy and thick.

Anywho, I'd be fine. Of course there would be some adjustments, but survival isn't that hard if you know what you're doing. I'm fairly confident that I, along with my family, could build a suitable shelter and live off the land using the knowledge and talents that we've acquired through years of hunting, fishing, gardening, etc. I actually enjoy getting away for a few days to go camping (real camping, not that camping ground, park your car 2 feet away from your tent nonsense) and doing things the simple way. So yeah, I'd be fine.
I'd also have fun watching FinD fight with squirrels over acorns, although the only punches being thrown would be from the squirrel. :pointlol: -

I think it would be fun to try, like go buy a few hundred acres in Canada and try it out with some friends. Reality is, though, that I hate horses and am pretty lazy. Not sure I'd like to get up at the butt crack of dawn and work in a field all day. I'd need to be the banker or something....

I'd do alright, been married twice, I could survive Armageddon. The whole bathing thing makes me think that not too much oral went on those days though. :( -

The woman in the song implies that British people have bad teeth because... well, it's complicated (and dirty) but mainly has to do with the fact not many men over there are circumcised.opfinistic likes this. -
