That’s pretty much the only thing going for us. Problem is Allen seems to play his best against Miami.
This game is most definitely getting flexed to Saturday night so there goes the advantage of putting the Bills sideline in the sun.
If I had to bet, this is the outcome I'd choose. But I'm also just going to note that emotionally and mentally the Bills are probably on fumes. It's incredibly hard to maintain what they have done for this length of time, so it would not be a surprise if Miami won. But it doesn't look great. It will be a game that really shows what the team's mentality is. Fight or fold time. Despite my post above, I understand that this wasn't the end of the season - just that it was devastating as a fan. For the players, put this one in the trash and just go win. Or go home, cause you aren't winning a road playoff game with these injuries and going backwards. Get a home game against Indy or someone and Ill feel better.
Never thought I'd see Chicxulub referenced in a sports thread, but here we are. Miami should still be favored to win at home against the Bills though and a win sets them up decently for the playoffs. Not ideal, but not too bad. I really need to see at least one playoff win to make this season seem like an improvement over the last couple decades.
Lose, still have a playoff game to play. Win, still have a playoff game to play. I'm disappointed in how our defense performed today. They had a game plan on who to attack. O-line held up pretty well vs the #1 defense. And we made some plays in the first half. Hill's td drop hurt and our failure to move the ball when we were up 10-7 changed the momentum. Bills game should be fun.
I didn't hear it when it happened because I was cursing McDaniel out louder than my TV but just rewatched the play Chubb got injured. It makes me sick hearing this man screaming in pain. And it makes me sick that it was absolute garbage time when it happened. McDaniel is getting shredded for this and he deserves it.
Yeah the Hill drop and then the following possession where we punted was all she wrote in this one. Today was either going to be a track meet or they were going to blow us out which they did. I actually turned this off after the last punt when the score was still 14-10. We were dead at that point and everyone knew it.
Had to work today so I dvr’d the game. Oh my God why did I even bother??? Fangio, it was games like this you were brought in for. The defense, which I expected to carry the team for this game didn’t even show up. The Ravens receivers were so wide open all game. Baltimore ran the ball on us at will. This was the worst defensive performance by a Miami Dolphins defense since Marino’s last game against Jacksonville. Baltimore’s defense tightened up the throwing windows and was able to shut down our passing game. Because the defense let the Ravens get so far ahead, we couldn’t run the ball as much as we should have. Achane had some really decent runs and if we hadn’t fallen so far behind, we could have used that to keep the Ravens secondary off balance. I know it’s easy as fans to scream and shout and point fingers at this person or that person, but the Ravens I think are either the luckiest team in AFC or they are just THAT good. We really need next week’s game in the worst possible way. We need a home playoff game…we actually need 2 and God willing 3 if the Ravens stumble. This is really going to be a challenge with the stacking injuries Miami is suffering. Sad day to be a Dolphins fan. Happy New Year guys!!!
The same way McDaniel comes across as a nerd. https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/28/lama...tional-jaguars-loss-deletes-vulgar-tweet-nfl/
Who's being irrational? Don't you think McDaniel is kicking himself right now? This is the second time now we lost a key starter in meaningless garbage time. Philips got injured in garbage time against the Jets. Both injuries are going to carry over into next season. Hopefully Tua is ok. It's common sense you take you're starters out when the game is out of reach win or lose.
He said the players wanted to go out there and finish the game. Obviously, he could have said no, but without a crystal ball, how can he predict a non contact injury like that?
Oh sure, if only he caught that touchdown we wouldn't have given up 52 points. Tyreek is responsible for the defense now? Also our offense has been held in check last 2 games. We are not as good as we think we are. Ravens are just better, stop making excuses.
I agree with you. Had Tyreek caught that ball, the entire game would have been different offensively. We wouldn't have had to settle for 3 and we could have run the ball a lot more.
I just don't see it that way. The Ravens were clearly hands down a better team. Scoring another TD in the first would not have resulted in the defense then playing lights out. That gave was a beat down. Anyone who thought that after what happened last year that they weren't going to stomp us into a mudhole was wishing on a star...and three was no way that they were going to allow a collapse like last year.
Ravens did whatever they wanted on offense. Things like that might have helped keep the score a little less embarrassing but they weren't scoring 40 on that defense.
This! You can’t pinpoint one play and say that’s the reason. It was Tyreke dropping the TD. Claypool not making the TD catch. Tua throwing 2 INT’s. Blown coverage assignments in the secondary. Berrios calling the fair catch instead of letting it go out of bounds and getting 15 more yards. A lack of any kind of pressure on the QB. Getting beat at the LOS on both sides of the ball. And you have to give credit, Jackson showed why he’s the MVP. The Ravens defense is the best in the NFL. They imposed their will on our offense and took away the things we wanted to do.
Their 3rd string QB would have looked like the MVP yesterday, the defence was that bad. 18-21 for over 300 yards, over 15 ypa and 5 TD’s in 18 completions while throwing to wide open receivers every play. Fangio should be ashamed to look at himself in the mirror after that performance. It was every bit as bad as the Denver effort against Miami this season. In some ways it was actually worse and it’s likely the worse defensive performance from any team this season.
I’m surprised it’s not worse based on his screaming. Maybe he just knew it and was pissed but sounded like severe pain. I was running a multi-ligament tear, so I guess this is good news.
I hope McDaniel feels an immense sense of guilt about this injury. If he would have done the sensible thing and taken him out this would not have happened .
I really dislike posts like this. Complete disrespect to the Ravens. It's not like the Fins just forgot how to play defense or offense. They got dominated. That's what happens when a team riddled with injuries goes to against the best.
We didn't lose because of injuries. Fangio had no answer for the Ravens offense regardless of who you put in there.
They were clearly the better team. I'm not going to waste my time with woulda coulda shoulda scenarios. The only one that matters is we woulda shoulda coulda won but didn't. Time to lick our wounds and prepare to come out to play better next week. Props to Baltimore.
What's ridiculous about it? From the opening snap our defense couldn't stop the Ravens. Jackson had a perfect passer rating with 5 TDs no INTs. A perfectly healthy defense would not have reduced that by 50 rating points to Jackson's average this year. Thinking they would have is completely ridiculous. You do realize that most of our injuries were on offense, not defense, right? The only key injury on defense to start the game was Phillips. You think he was the reason we gave up 33 points more than our average points allowed per game?? Ridiculous to think this game was lost due to injuries. You're vastly underestimating Fangio's incompetence in this game. I actually hope we play them in the playoffs again because I guarantee you the next time he'll have a far better game plan and we'll get a much better result, despite the injuries.
Sorry, but finding reasons to mitigate that *** whooping is just making excuses. We didn't lose because of injuries. They had injuries, too. We lost because we didn't execute at any position and they did. Injuries are part of the game, especially at this point of the season. If you were listing the 22 best players by position, all of them were playing for the home team. It is what it is. If we play them again, I wouldn't be surprised if we won. But since my eyes are still bleeding from that debacle, I can't say that I would expect us to. I love my team, but d*mn if I'm going to pretend that there's any universe where we were competitive *except for* injuries. I wish we'd won that review of the Ravens' receiver catching the ball on the sideline, but even that didn't matter in the end.
Oh I'm not saying we would have won. Last year's win against the Ravens was Miami's first win against the Ravens IN Baltimore since 1997. Historically the odds were heavily stacked against us but the drop by Hill was a game changer. Had Hill made that catch, it would have been 14-7 Miami and after the Ravens had punted the following series, the momentum and energy would have been on our side and COULD have led to another scoring drive...even if it had been a field goal and go up 17-7. Could'a, should'a, would'a. It's a moot topic. I agree that hands down, the Ravens were a better team. They were firing on all cylnders yesterday but I think we can all agree that there were many many times, especially on the defensive side of the ball, we shot ourselves in the foot.
Phillips, Baker and X went out the first play. Holland was clearly not fit and should not have been out there. Maybe Baker is as dumb as Reilly and shoots under his coverage 3 times on wheel routes to let the RB sail past him, maybe he doesn't. Maybe X makes a few more plays than Apple and doesn't allow Flowers to run straight past him on a wheel route for a long TD. Don't get me wrong, Fangio got his *** handed to him as he doesn't seem to make adjustments for anything or if he did the backups were too dumb to implement the changes. If we do play the Ravens again of course we will do better, that performance was a level of ineptitude not seen this season in the NFL and I'm including the Broncos 70 point game in that. It would be an instant firing to reproduce that performance.
Second drive too but Tyreek was more worried about starting his celebration than pulling in the catch. After that the Ravens adjusted, starting getting pressure and things went to ****. I think Tua is so determined to make it through this season healthy that he's rushing throws he doesn't need to as he doesn't trust his line (I wouldn't either). If Tua makes it through the season healthy (fingers crossed it's at least another 3 games) and gets his long term contract I would not be surprised if he loses weight again over the off-season to help him move better. Just a suspicion I have.
He has been protecting players all year from playing in games. Why would he change now? He also DID take out some offensive players.
