The
Key Play With 8:57 left in the second quarter with game tied at 3-3 the Dolphins had a 3rd-and-5 on their own 45. There had been a pair of Wildcat plays that had gotten the 5 yards. The Dolphins lined up in the shotgun with Ronnie Brown in motion. Baltimore was using a 3-man line, only rushing 2 of them with Terrell Suggs, the right end dropping back into coverage about 10 yards deep.
However, Baltimore had both comeback Frank Walker, and safety Jim Leonhard blitz from the right. Leonhard got free and was able to get to Chad Pennington and wrap his arms around him. Pennington, in a panic lobbed a pass toward safety valve receiver Patrick Cobbs who was around the Dolphin 48. Suggs who had dropped back, jumped the lane, picked off the lame throw, at the 45, and returned it for a 45 yard touchdown.
This gave Baltimore a 10-0 lead, and changed the game for the balance of the game.
