Our season is pretty much over...
Playoffs are out of the picture.

All we can do now is watch to see if we will win 8 or 9 games and screw up the chances of getting a top 5 draft pick.

Assuming we win 5-6 games we could pick in the top ten in the 5-6 range.

I am looking at the standings from last season.

The Chargers were 5-12 and picked 5th
The Titans were 6-11 and they picked 6th

So 5-6 wins should have us picking in this range

8 wins last year meant you picked 12th (Broncos.)

Okay enough of that sort of talk...

I guess this could be a topic where we update it every week with our new draft position?
We could also talk about top players for the first couple of rounds and who has shined that week in college football?

Risers and fallers so to speak?

I could break this into 2-3 specific threads for people to post in... It would keep the conversation more to each aspect.

So I just changed the title of this thread from Big draft boards... I will keep this one pretty basic... Focus on our draft pick currently... Who we play next week... Likelihood of a win or loss.. and what our draft pick might look like next week...
We can also look at other teams at the bottom of the pile and their chances at a top pick.

    Cheers guys.

I will go first...(Even though it is really early) and pick that we end up winning a few games down the stretch and pick in the 6-10 range.

Also we play the Rams next week... On the road...

So I will go with the Rams... They have one of the best running backs in the game... Stafford is a quality QB... and even though they are banged up... Kupp, Robinson, Nacua, Atwell ...They have a lot of weapons... at 4 and 4 they are back in the playoff hunt in their division.

So I am going to predict a loss. Which will leave us at 2-7 (and likely in the top 5.)

Currently we are 2-6 and we would be picking 8th... It is worth noting that all of the teams ahead of us right now in draft order have a record of 2-7... None of them have experienced their bye weeks yet... Once the Dolphins have played the same number of games and have the same record as these teams the Dolphins could move up in the proposed draft order.

Look forward to joining the process

With the way they played yesterday they might go on a run here so let’s see where it plays out.

Maybe we pick top 15 at 9-8

man I’m not sure, the rams are a tough pretty good team, with a Qb that’s hard to sack.

I think Tua will go to toe with them in that stadium but we I don’t think weaver has the tools he needs to compete.

Holland needs to come back and play.

I think it’s a toss up game. We might out score them

I mean it would be a very Dolphin thing to do... Go on a run win 3 of the next 4 and be 5-7... Not in the playoff picture... But enough wins that the "Kool-Aid Drinkers." would still be excited... (You know who you are.)

We end up with only 8 wins and miss out on a top 10 draft pick.

So much a very Dolphin thing to do

There isn't a team left that they cannot beat if Tua is healthy. That said, they have to beat the teams, as there isn't a team left that is a guaranteed win, and Tua absolutely has to be healthy. All and all, to early for this thread IMO.

    ...Tacos...

    Anyone could theoretically beat anyone.

There is a huge difference in possibility and probability.

People might say off the cuff that there is not a team the Dolphins could not beat the rest of the season... But nobody would bet everything they own on that happening.

The Fins currently sit at #8. They're the top 2-6 team because their SoS is far worse than any other team in the NFL at the moment. Though unlikely, they could possibly even move as high as #2 after this coming week with a loss. The fact that the Giants and Panthers play one another prevents a move all the way to the top.

I'm not going to root for the Dolphins to lose. But frankly, if Tua, Achane, Waddle and the other important young parts of the offense play well the rest of the way but we still end up with a top five draft pick, that's the best scenario at this point given what the record is.

We have some touchy members that would likely swallow their upper lips if people openly said they were rooting for a Dolphins loss on any given Sunday... and I get that partially.

After 40+ years of cheering... I am approaching the end of my life... I would like to see this team win a superbowl. That is the goal... Meaningless wins once you know that the current team is not worthy of being a superbowl contender no longer does much for me.

I can lose a battle to win a war. The Superbowl is all that matters.

Grier made a major mistake today not cashing out several pieces.

Multiple teams traded for help on the defensive line, at corner, and wide receiver.

Campbell, Chubb, Ogbah, Beckham, Mostert, Ramsey, Smith, (Hill maybe)

Trade these players now... Get a handful of picks to add to the 10 we already have... And get a top 3 pick in the coming draft.

If we decide to keep Tua... Being in the top 3 would allow us to trade down to a team that wants a top QB Meaning we get at least an extra second... Likely more.

Watching today's trade deadline pass was extremely frustrating for me. Grier set this organization back another 2 years with his stupidity today.

Trading down from the top five for a haul would be enormous for this franchise. With a GM not named Grier doing the work.

Could not agree more... Thing is if they did trade..

    Mostert
    Ramsey
    Chubb
    Ogbah
    Campbell
    Holland
    Beckham

Then they would for sure be in a position for a top 3 pick in April...
Which would mean a better trade package when they traded down.

Sadly, Chubb is untradable both due to his injury and his contract. In an absolute best case scenario, we might trade him after June 1 of next year.

Ramsey would also cause an unbearable amount of dead money to the cap after they redid his contract.

Let me be more bold then. As things stand, I expect them to win vs everyone left on the schedule but the Packers and Texans. That's 9-8 and if they can spilt those games 10-7 is reachable. Jevon Holland is the key to the D IMO. Health is what will determine the results for those games.

Wow man... 10-7 is beyond bold. If you can predict that... Start buying lottery tickets.

As for the contracts... Yes Chubb is too expensive.. Ramsey is too expensive.

Typical fallout of Grier being our GM

That being said I was all for the Dolphins eating a huge chunk of the owed money.... Just to get rid of them.

Chubb was a mistake in every way all around, but that mistake is from 2022.

The extensions for Tyreek and Ramsey this year were clearly unnecessary and mistakes when they happened. Had they not done them, we'd have at a minimum been able to move on from them after this season, and probably gotten something back in return. Now, we're shackled to them as they age and their skills decline.

2020,2021,2022..... It does not matter what year Grier made the mistake...

We are paying for it now.
