ESPN's Adam Schefter, claims that former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak are among the early candidates for our Offensive Coordinator position.
What kind of job do you think he would do??

And I do believe Ryan has more talent than shaub..
And John Elway thinks he's a great coach..
I don't want him as a head coach, I don't think he has what it takes in that dept, but for our offensive coordinator mos def.Phins_Fan_87, Pariah, The Rev and 1 other person like this. -
Kubiak would be great. Lots of people have mini strokes and are just fine after.
My brother had a stroke while bowling when he was 29 years old. He was blind for a few days and then he was fine and never had another issue. -
Gary kubiak could work wonders for Ryan Tannehill and our offense in whole. With Gary being the OC, we would probably have to revamp the RB's since I don't think Daniel Thomas or Lamar Miller will fit his scheme to well. He likes runners with patience to wait for the hole to open up instead of just plow through. Look at Arian Fosters patience, I can't see that with DT or LM.

Kubiak could be on Miami's radar but I highly doubt we are on his.

If he can't get a HC job, he'd be coming into an amazing situation here already having a QB. So he could either turn around this offense which would put him back in HC contention or if Philbin fails he may have a leg up on the HC here.PhinGeneral, Colorado Dolfan and P h i N s A N i T y like this. -

I don't see him coming to be an OC for a head coach than he is way more qualified and proven than.

I'd prefer Kyle Shanahan, Ben McAdoo, and Bill Lazor. They are younger, less set in their ways, more vertically oriented in their passing concepts, and are more willing to spread the field out and use less two back stuff.

On the other hand, if he comes here and we bomb out next season, he's got even more stains on his shirt furthering his quest to get back the HC ranks ?? -
I think Kubs would be a big upgrade over Sherman at OC that's for sure. I wouldn't complain if that's who we got.
-
I highly doubt Turner is still here after we get a new OC. Actually, I believe a few more will be sent packing soon after we hire an OC.

I'd like Kubiak. I think he's a good offensive coordinator, and what he does would fit the talent, and Tannehill especially very well.
I had three offensive coordinator prospects I'd like if Sherman got fired- Kubiak, Lazor, and Shanahan Jr. I'm not sure what order I'd put them in at this point, but I think I very much prefer the guys who will do the "new" stuff rather than Kubiak and doubling down on what the team does with McAdoo. -
Kubiak is pretty well at Norv Turner status. If this team does poorly I don't think his career prospects change a lot, he will be able to find an OC job somewhere.

Gary Kubiak's resume is production.
Up until this year, when the wheels completely fell off for the Texans, he has consistently managed to get great production out of whatever he had to work with. You give him any running back off the scrap heap, and he will get you 1200 yards out of the guy. You give him any quarterback -- whether it's a Hall of Famer like John Elway or a scrub like Jake Plummer, and he will get you more yards per attempt, more touchdowns, and fewer interceptions.
The Dolphins would be incredibly fortunate to land Kubiak.Unlucky 13 likes this. -

For example just because an Eagles assistant works within the offense doesn't mean he has the ability to implement that offense effectively elsewhere. So you're looking at a lot of factors aside from experience in a certain system.
With an experienced coach you may losr some innovation, but it does reduce the risk. I'm not opposed to Kubiak.Bpk likes this. -
I would love to have Kubiak. His offense speaks for itself and Tanny would be great in it
Kubiak as OC raises some questions though. How long would he want to stay? Will it be a Philbin/Kubiak offense or a Kubiak offense? A Kubiak offense seems like it would take more than one off season to get downFin D and Nappy Roots like this. -
Right. But like Maynard just points out. It may take more then an off season to get Kubiaks offense down. Then how long will he be here? One and done? Then we all the sudden start over with another system?
The up and comers hopefully come in, establish a system, remain with the team for a more then a couple years, and let the players learn the system. Also let the coaches under them learn the system, so when someone at some point(hopefully he's doing a good enough job) poaches our OC. That may be able to promote from within.maynard likes this. -
I don't think Gary will get another head coaching opportunity. He's really great at running an offense, but things went pretty bad in Houston and I think his health will scare owners away from hiring him. -
It seens like Tannehill may take longer to learn an entirely new offense than a similar but expanded one. I can't really tell you though how long iy will or won't take.
I'm not opposed to hiring s young coach. I don't really care so long as he has a solid background and we don't get someone in over his head. Thst would be thr worst case scenario.
It seems to me like it may take Tannehill long -
It's interesting. Do you know when Houston had their most productive offense on a points per drive basis? 2007.
Go look up who was the offensive coordinator in Houston that year. The Texans averaged 2.2 points per drive that season. -

I think to an extent Kubiak might be at a disadvantage because he differs from Philbin on some fundamentals. All of the other interviews are offenses I think are a bit better fit with the shotgun, spread, hurry up game.
