Hello fellow fans... not trying to ruffle any feathers but something other than their Offense might have helped the Jets end up on the wrong end of the scoreboard... I was in the GG forum last night, and one of NYJUNCs thread caught my attention and he caught a lot of flack over, but he does make sense genrally so I decided to bring this to this forum and add my 2 cents... Against NE (both games) last year they allowed avg 40% TDC... Against NO they allowed 31% TDC... Against ATL the allowed 39% TDC... Against Indi (Post Season) they allowed 36% TDC... Against Buffalo (both games) they allowed avg 31% TDC... Against MIA (both games) the allowed avg 46% TDC... The Jets D averaged 32% on avg Allowing opponents in Third Down Conversions regular Season in 2009... and ranked # 1 in Passing Yards Allowed... They avg 34% in TDC in the Play Offs last year... The Jets D ranked #1 in not allowing TDCs last year, now after its 1st game in 2010 they rank #31... and ranked # 20 in Passing Yards Allowed... think about it, is it just one game outlier??? Look I am not stating that the Jet's D is bad nor mediocre, but they did not play Jets Type Defense consistantly last Monday night... Allowing a whopping 58% in TDC... They allowed 9 TDC in the 1st half alone (4 on penalties, 4 on passes, and 1 TD run)... so if they tired out by the 2nd half, it was not just the O's fault, they could not get the Raven's Offense off the field often... I mean, the Jets Offense had the short field anyways, the 1st half, so you would not expect them to have much TOP... I know the Offense was attrocious at times, specially when they needed to convert 3rd Downs, but this loss, IMO, which don't mean much, rests on both the D (to an extent) and the O (major contributor)... Will the Passing D become a weakness to them this year also??? Discuss...
Cam really called a nice game and if Flaco had played better this easily could have been a blow out. I think they only threw towards Revis 2X. There was 1 bad call against Cromartie but if you get to him early it looks like you can get in his head and the rookie Wilson looks terrible. I think they have serious issues in the secondary outside of Revis. Leonard was almost 2 steps behind Heap on the catch he layed it out for. Flaco hits him in stride and it was goodbye. They looked exhausted in the final 5-7 minutes of the game. You wear down that front line and they can be toasted by the passing game.
Hmm. So my theory may just hold a little bit of water after all. Kneel-Kneel-Pass might actually work.
