I have a couple of Nike Jersey's from a while back and you're correct. Can't tell the difference but I'm glad if this is indeed true. Reeboks shoes suck nowadays so matching them up with a jersey is only a couple of choices.

Nike has had shoes that match the jerseys for ever and in more than one style.

 

Nike will not have that choice. The NFL and Teams must agree on what they will look like.

 

If Nike makes them look like those goddamn NCAA monstrosities, they will get their own 'Vinny Rant'.

I can see the letter now.

Oakland, you will be wearing black and white stripes.

The Refs will be wearing a target on the front in back in case they @@@@ up a call.

The Broncos and Colts will be wearing the new horse hair jerseys.

The Dolphins will be changing to a more realistic Grey and off white. We wanted to make them out of real skin but save the Dolphins denied that request.

The Falcons and Ravens will be wearing feathered uni's

The Jets will change from puke green and white to straight up pink with hot pink lettering.

And last but not least. The Cheerleaders will now be wearing thongs and lace tops in their teams colors. We would also like to announce that we will be breaking out our new Nike Skripper poles for each Cheerleader.

Nike of course will want to say they are drastically changing the uni's (even if its only a minor change) just to get the populace to buy NEW jerseys of their team.
But as others have said, I highly doubt the NFL and teams would okay a very drastic change in uniform. The colors won't change, maybe how they are patterned on the uniforms, but that (in my eyes) would at least look cool.
How cool would a chargers uni look with a powder blue jersey with giant yellow bolts down the front? I think that'd be pretty bada$$ if you ask me.

They wont be changing the colors of our jerseys. What they will change is the overall STYLE of the jersey, which is what I think he is getting at.

Heres an example of what they did with Ohio States. Its the Pro Combat system....




This is from the Nike Brand Press Release:

" We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we've done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available. The NFL program hasn't had the same type of advancement in recent years. "

 

They are just going to be changing the "technology" they use "in" the jerseys. Not the team specific design of the jerseys.

Durable
Sweat of Chinese 8 years olds

 

Expect the Dolphin to be changed to look remarkably like the "swoosh."

 

I used to hang out in them places for a time and I'll never forget this one fine fine FINE girl that I always wanted to get to know. Well, I finally started up a conversation with her and thats exactly how she talked. When she told me shed been a skripper for two years, I almost died. Been using the word ever since.

 

BTW, that orange stripe om the Broncos uni is the Nike swoosh:wink2:

The little circles are the material design and wont be very visible.

I have a feeling the Teal will have Orange letters, and the White will have Teal. Not the orange letters that are on them now. I dont think they will put the large M on the helmet either.

I do have a feeling Ross will want to see some kind of change with the Phins uniforms..and the Pro Combat Uniforms are really cool.

Correct, but the NFL owners are continuously looking to enhance their revenue streams, and Nike's collegiate designs have been quite successful in increasing jersey sales. IMO that increase in revenue was a big consideration in this new partnership.

So I think while the designs of some teams will pretty much stay the same (i.e. Dallas, Oakland, etc.), I think we could see a number of new, unique designs come out in the next 5 years or so.

I also think you might see different alternate jerseys make their way onto the scene, similar to the Combat jerseys Nike made for the NCAA.

They forgot the skirt for the #12 uni for NE.

 

It will have to pass thru all owners and I don't see it being so easy. They might settle for an occassional change of pace jersey but you won't see the Bears, Dolphins, Redskins, Vikings, Steelers.....fans very happy with a permenant change.

No, I don't think it does, at least on an individual basis. I believe changes in a team's uniform is dependent on approval the team and the NFL front office. I don't know if across the board uniform change is what Nike has in mind, although I believe they did something similar with the NHL, with varying degrees of change.

Personally, I see only a handful of teams whose uniforms are so iconic that they probably won't see much, if any change. If most owners think they can bring in more money with some re-designs, they'll do it. Sure, they'll piss off some percentage of their team's fan base, but that's natural and expected.
