Well, just to see where dolphins fans are at, what does your ideal offseason look like in terms of players and coaches added to the team?

    Offense:

-We have no shot at Luck, trade up for RG3?

Not for me, he probably is not ready to play Qb on opening day.

    -Sign a FA Qb?

Would depend, simply because Flynn has 2 starts, and you'd have to be convinced the FA qb you signed is better then Matt Moore as a baseline, and the third tier guys like Campbell, Orton, Shuan Hill etc will want starter money + playing time guarantees

    -Sign a FA tight end?

Would like Shiancoe or John Carlson, think they would add a lot to the passing gm, Dan Dressen will hit the mkt as well.

    -FA Wr's?

We need a Desean Jackson type of Wr, but not Desean per se.

    -Defense

-Make a decision on Soliai, is being Top #5 against the run worth 10 million per yr?

-add a passrushing OLB/De, Barnes won't make it out of SD, Manny Lawson on the cheap maybe?

    Head Coach:

-simply no idea, really, Fisher is interesting, but not the end of the world if we don't sign him.

    Draft:

-Add playmakers, no way around it, we probably have most of our answers for the OL on the roster with Colombo leaving John Jerry makes sense as a replacement, leaving RG as a problem area.

Flynn looked good in the pocket, good pocket awareness, also he studied (learned) behind Rodgers and also was coached well from the Packers, I read on here on this board wanted there QB coach. Blackman would be great to get but at what price? As for Luck do we make the biggest 1st round package trade of pics to get him? Most team would want QB Luck, but I don't see what the Colts would do picking him when they have so much needs on Defense and offense, just makes no sense to me, even if Manning come's Back at 100% he won't have the people around him to make it to the SB.

I don't feel Solia is worth that, he plays 2 downs and off the field, is that worth 10+ million, I dont see WIlfork getting of the field on 3rd down, just an example.

Colombo has to go, even though our line played better, think it had to do with them not being shuffled all the time as last year with the acception of Long being out.

Definatley need a TE, but cant Clay be that TE fulltime, he has shown he can catch and is fast. We do need to replace Fasano, so we look at this in Free agency.

Linebackers we can always look for an upgrade.

Safety is our other main concern, imo...

I agree about Luck. I'd love him but have no shot.
I'd take Griffin if he fell to us, but I'm not interested in trading more picks to get him.
I would make it a high priority to sign Matt Flynn. Doesn't cost us picks or players. Just cap space.

A pass-catching TE would be good - especially if we sign Flynn - Carlson is interesting if he can stay healthy.
Would also like to draft Dwayne Allen in the 2nd if he is still there.

No way I want DeSean Jackson on this football team. Other potential Fa's I'd prefer include: Welker, Bowe, Colston, MAnningham and Garcon.
Also, if Blackmon somehow falls to us in the 1st we take him, no questions asked. Also would consider Alshon Jeffery.

If we can fit Soliai under the cap comfortably I think you have to sign him. He is a huge cog in our run-stopping ability.
Other options in FA include: Antonio Garay, Aubrayo Franklin and Sione Pouha. Although I'm not sure they will come any cheaper than Soliai. So I guess it depends on if you think any are an upgrade.
Potential draft options in the 3rd/4th rounds include: Dontari Poe, Mister Cobble and John Chapman.

We absolutely need to ad a pass-rusher. Any chance Cliff Avril leaves Detroit?

As far a Head Coach goes, I have no idea what to expect out of this search. My gut still tells me we end up with Brian Billick.

    Ideally, IMHO:

    - Fire Jeff Ireland
    - Hire Jeff Fisher
    - Sign Matt Flynn as an UFA or draft Brandon Weeden

if we can trade up for RG3, I'd do it. otherwise, sign Matt Flynn. maybe take a pass rusher in the draft, or Blackmon if he's there. I wouldn't mind seeing at least one big FA signing, who that is, I'm not really sure. our defense is our strength when they're on their game, I say build on it if we can. we need a stronger #2 receiver outside Marshall though, and the o-line needs work. a healthy long and Pouncey is a good start, maybe add a guard or a right tackle.

we traded 2 - 1st round picks for RW, and I was ok with it, now we see how Luck can play all the Media say Luck is a sure NFL caliber QB, but unless we have a great HC and QB coach in place is it worth trading a 3 or more 1st picks for him? I know Flynn played 2 games but he almost beat the patriots first time coming off the bench and then torched the Lions, we did see improvement, if we go for Flynn need to make that contract cap friendly.

It seems we are interviewing for 2 positions, for GM if Carl lands Fisher he gets the job or if Ireland brings in the next Shula he keeps his. Not the way to do it, seems it pissed people on here what would Fisher think?

Fisher would be a great addition, or Brian B, we need someone to turn the franchise around, if they don't make the SB in 4 or 5 years we need to look again, nothing is written in stone that any HC will win a SB, but we need to be the laughing stock of the NFL.

People are pissed at Ross, but I dont think he is the problem, he has a big learning curve, but he isn't dumb or not he wouldnt be a Billionaire and own our Dolphins. dam even Irsay didnt do a good job looking at what Polian did the last 5 years at Indy. Dam if you want to see a real dumb owner look at Snyder or Jerry Jones the prophet of NFL, he knows it all... :sidelol:

Hire whoever to coach, cause it doesn't matter.

Offer everything for Luck. When that fails, sign Manning and Flynn.

I like this, as a start. I'll add to "target" drafting Weeden in addition to signing Flynn in FA. I'd look for him in the late second or high third, and if I miss on him...oh well. Just hedging my bets basically.

I'd also like to see Spagnola brought in to replace Nolan as DC, Martz or Philbin brought in to replace Daboll as OC.

In terms of positions I'd like to see improvement in (not necessairly specific in terms of what players to draft or sign), I'd like to see the right side of the O-line addressed, the addition of a speed receiver, and a playmaking TE. On the other side of the ball, I think we need to improve the defensive backfield, specifically both safety positions and another CB, as well as adding another pass rush specialist on the other side of Wake.

For me it could go a few ways. My ideal would be for Manning to make a remarkable recovery and for Indy to fall in love with some other QB prospect. We trade two #1s and Odrick for the right to draft Luck. We draft Markelle Martin S at the top of the second and sign Carl Nicks, Greg Olson and a guy like Manny Lawson in FA. I don't really care much about the HC in that situation. I would prefer a young OC and keep the continuity on the defense.

I still think this draft is going to produce a record number of franchise QBs so I would also be fine with just taking Tannehill, Tyler Wilson or even Weedon in the first (although ideally a small trade down for Weedon would be preferable). I also think Russell Wilson has potential and is worth a third even though he might be available as late as the fourth or fifth.

If Flynn is not franchised then I see him as a smart signing and as having a much higher ceiling than Moore. I wouldn't mind signing him and drafting either a Coples, Trent Williams or Decastro . I would love to extend Moore to a modest contract too. I think getting Clements or Philbin here with Flynn would be a good complement. I don't see the other FA QBs as having franchise potential.

    2 problems with this:

Manning will cost money and he will want to start.

Flynn will demand a Kolb-esque contract and he will want to start.

    Offense:

Don't want RG3, would love Tannehill and have Moore start until he is ready.

TE- Draft Dwayne Allen in 2nd (depends if you take Tannehill in round 1)

    Defense-

Draft a Saftey early and you can never have enough pass rush.

Don't reach for a QB in round 1 (I know, I said Tannehill, I think he will climb up to first round) but if not take Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford (I know its unpopular, but you would have Long and Martin as bookends and Pouncy in the middle for years)

    Too early to tell.
Whos the head coach going to be?

Re signing Soliai and Langford should be our priority.

We need to get Griffin... Not Robert Griffin but Free safety Michael Griffin from the Titans. I expect this move to be made if Fisher becomes the coach. Cortland Finnegan is out there as well. He's a psycho path that would give our secondary some psycho moxie.

DONT F-up this draft! We really need another solid draft.

Carl Nicks, and Ben Grubbs are free agents. If we are going to spend money it should be on one of them.

Mario Williams is a free agent as well. He would be a huge addition for us as a pass rusher.

Laron Landry is a free agent. I personally think Bell has some good years left at strong safety for us so I don't expect us to make a play for a strong safety.

Decide who stays and who goes.

    So far leaving I got:
Henne, Slaton, Hilliard, Columbo, Burnett (surprise), and Will Allen.

    Re-sign Soliai and Langford.
Draft DeCastro, RG in the first
Draft Dwayne Allen, TE in the second.
    Trade for Flynn.
Get a pass rushing OLB and a tackle in free agency.
Draft a free safety and wide receiver in the third and fourth.
Fire Ireland. Crazy, arrogant, slimy SOB.
    Keep Nolan.

This is all within the realm of the possible.
