I'm stuck right in the middle of my league (2-2). My team right now is good for 100-120 points a week. Thats not competitive enough for me to beat the upper-level teams, but good enough to take care of the bottom-feeders. I'm really not sure what to do right now. Heres what my team looks like: QB: Palmer (killing me) Griese (not helping) RB: Addai, Slaton (promising), Kevin Smith, Selvin Young (who I started over Buckhalter ), Buckhalter WR: Marshall, Fitz, Bowe, Jerry Porter (hopefully dropped for Randel-El) WR is the only real bright spot on my team, but I still need a solid number 4 TE: Cooley (killing me), Fasano K: Prater D: Minn (20 point swings every week) I really don't know which moves to make right now to try to improve. WR is the only position I really have locked down. I'd rather not trade one of my WRs, but its looking like I might have to. I feel like I need to do something or I wont end up with a good enough record to get a high seat in the playoffs. Whatd you guys think I should do? What moves would you make with what players? %@!
I'd try to get someone better than Jerry Porter for one. Scour the waiver wires for a bit. You should be starting Fasano but Cooley could get hot quick the way Campbell's been playing. I wouldn't trade or cut him unless it was for a no-brainer trade. Addai and Slaton are ok but you'll be unlikely to swing a trade for a top RB without giving up a piece or two. Hold onto Griese though since he can be a pretty decent backup QB. Dump or trade Kevin Smith. It's hard to help without knowing what's available in FA. And picking up great guys in FA (like Slaton, Hightower, Desean Jackson, Eddie Royal, etc) can make or break a team.
Theres really not much in FA. I'm trying to claim Randel-El or Walter for Porter right now. I actually had Desean Jackson but was able to trade him for Bowe. Slaton I picked up and he looks like he'll do well at RB2. I agree that I should start Fasano. Cooley pretty much solidified that to me today when I saw Campbell constantly throwing to Moss and El while Cooley blocked 75% of the time. I duno about Griese tho. 3 picks today, ouch. The only FA QBs worth mentioning right now are Orton, Pennington, Russel, Cassel, Collins and Huard. Not much there. I duno what I want to do about Palmer either. Not having a solid QB has really been hurting me all season.
I think you're stuck unless you're willing to trade one of your WRs for an upgrade at QB. Also, anything can happen in the playoffs so you just need to have a good enough team to make it there.
I duno what Palmer's deal is yet. If he comes back next week and looks alright that would be huge. I'm not all that confident in my RBs either. Addai particularly. I feel like I'm just missing that one guy that would make my team great instead of good.
Someone will bite on Palmer. Package him when he has a good game with Kevin Smith for an ok RB. I'm still holding onto Griese despite that game because the Packers do have a playmaking D and well, I can't cut the son of Bob.
I have to hope Palmer's elbow isn't as serious as people think it might be first. The Packers have a good D, but without Al Harris its only ok. Griese concerns me.
They force turnovers and Griese leans on TE's so a LB like AJ Hawk negates it. I wouldn't be too concerned with Griese unless your league penalizes heavily on ints. Though I guess I'm still concerned about their WR corps. If Galloway returns, it'll get better.
Thats true about Galloway. I heard GB might lose Hawk for awhile from a groin pull. I also just dropped Kevin Smith for Maroney.
There goes the linchpin of that D. Hmm, I don't know if I would've made that move. Risky one at that. Who else is around at RB?
Pittman, Duckett, F Jackson, Fargas, Ward I figured I would pick up Maroney now and get Smith back off wires before anyone else does. I have Addai and Slaton so its not like Smith would crack that lineup anyways. I would still prob start Buckhalter or Young infront of him.
You'll be dropping Buckhalter for sure whenever Westbrook returns. I knew Westbrook was doubtful but with spare RB's on bye and his replacements not even close to his 16-25 point production...
Id pick up a waiver wire QB incase Palmer isnt ready to go. Hes frustrated with that team as well so might not be in a hurry to get on the field or give it 100%. Did that Cooley move go through? Other than that, watch for players getting hot and snag them quick. Maybe package a few hot people who you think might fade for some solid perfomers who may not dazzle but will get you consistent points.
Rivers is a no-go. The guy I'm playing this week has Cutler, McNabb and Hasselbeck. I'm thinking I should swing a trade for McNabb. His line-up is: RB: T Jones, Forte, Edge WR: Owens, Moss, Reggie Brown, V Jackson TE: Royal, Vernon Davis He looks weak at TE so I figure maybe I throw Cooley and someone else at him for Donovan. Any thoughts as to who?
I'm guessing that's Randy Moss and not Santana? Maybe get a WR and RB too (trade Jones in a package if you can). Other than Forte, Edge, and Owens, there's just not much.
Yea thats Randy. Thats his team. Mine is Palmer, Griese Slaton, Addai, Maroney, Young, Buckhalter Fitz, Marshall, Bowe, Porter (hopefully Walter instead) Cooley, Fasano
Ugh, my trade proposals are getting denied faster then Calista Flockheart at a chubby chaser convention.
