I'm not trying to be provocative, but I don't understand how obsessed some of you are with jersey numbers. After we got Brandon Marshall, there were multiple threads about what number he's gonna wear and what Bess was gonna do. Now, its all about what numbers the rookies are going to wear. I understand its the offseason and all, but I just don't get it.
the number is their identity. these arent basketball players where you can see their faces. hair, etc. For a lot of players, the only thing that separates who they are on the field is their number. Take langford, odrick, merling, Wake and have them all line up with their backs to you all suited up without their names on the jersey and no numbers, and i bet you can't separate them perfectly. as for Marshall, every play i've seen the guy make has been in #15. He's the most prolific wr to ever wear #15. That's why i think he should stay #15.
It helps to know their numbers to spot them on the field in preseason and camp. It's also interesting to compare them to previous players who wore that number. Koa Misi is the new Joey Porter Aj Edds is the new Zach Thomas Jared Odrick is the new Matt Roth Brandon Marshall is the new, oh wait. hasn't chose a number.
Well you're not alone. Neither do I get all the "hey are we going to change uniforms/colors/designs" threads that invariably pop up during the off season.
Because I'll be wearing a Brandon Marshall jersey to every home game for the next 5-8 years and it's important that the number he chooses looks good on me.

superstition, the number identity becomes comfortable, whatever there are as many good reasons to issue another number as to assign the preferred one the outside of a jersey doesn't matter, what's on the inside win games
1) I wanna buy a jersey.... 2) There isnt much going on until August.. 3) Something to take my mind off this Jeff Irish should be tarred and feathered crap.... other than that not much...
The Obsession is Probably becasue some of the people here have such an attraction for MADDEN football that when they take MIami to the SB they want to have real Jersey numbers of the newly created players to play with
