I hope we don't give him too much time and cut it too close. If he doesn't sign in the next few days I say we move on to Gholston or the better Long.
I would say around the 19th or 20th. If he decides not to sign, we would still have about a week to agree with another player.
Probably fairly soon, I think they'd want to have enough time to negotiate a contract with their #1 if he didnt accept.
The odd thing is after there were reports yesterday about Jake L not wanting to play for the Phins there was nothing today from his agent or Jake stating that he didn't say that or he would love to play for phins etc..... Any thoughts on that?
It's probably either true, or a negotiating ploy. That's about the most effective counter for the contract negotiations Parcells is doing
Hopefully the deadline is within the next 10 seconds. I'd rather take frickin' Darren McFadden over Jake "I'm A Wolverine, The Media Loves Me" Long.
The time deadline is likely affected by when Gholston accepts the terms we've discussed with his agent. In other words, if Gholston accepts our terms, then Jake is going to have to **** or get off the pot in a timely manner, or Parcells will pull the trigger with Gholston. It seems evident Parcells sees these two as ALMOST equal and while he wants Jake a little bit more, at some point before the draft day, Parcells will pull the trigger with Gholston so Parcells can go into draft day with a signed contract making him look good with Huizenga and our other new owner, and with the rest of the owners, for essentially lowering the cost of draft picks this year by millions.
