In 2006, we were a run of the mill 6-10 team, we had a stout Defense and anemic offense. In 2007, we are a really bad 1-14 team, with a porous defense and a pop gun offense. When did this slide start to happen for us? Last winter when Mueller was given an extension after Lil Nicky went to Alabama? 2004, when the cumulative effect of bad drafts were felt? Hiring Cam? Making Dom HC of the defense?
I have the feeling that this season was over before it began ala Sun Tzu's "Every battle is won or lost before the armies take the field". Lil Nicky's departure may have more to do with this season then we Fans realize.
lmao..... i think it all started going downhill when satan left. i thought he would be a good coach for us and win games for us
it is very sad, what is even worse is that i live in philly and it is winter, so the weather is horrible, i cant play golf and the phins season is over tommorrow, i will have to wait eight months for another game and sit in my house until spring and do honey do jobs, i hate the winter and the offseason
he did & is a good coach, but the ***** ran off when the going got tough. you know what would be funny if Cam gets fired and the Pats lose their OC to a promotion and BB hires Cam as their OC. what better way to continue to stick it to us. they already take our players that we get rid off. why stop there? lets hire our ex-Coach.
I wouldn't miss this offseason for a BB autograph... We get to see who Tuna fires, who he hires, which players didn't make the grade and are sent packing, watch the brewing feud between Tuna and Jerry Jones develop, watch as Tuna picks up some "WTH"? type FA, and then kick back and watch and see who we draft or if we can trade the #1 pick.... As to the thread starter, IMO Lil nicky had a role player type defense with Dom as the nominal DC, Dom had very different views on player rotation then Lil Nicky did, add in a bad Roster evaluation along with Dom's inability to move players into positions that Lil Nicky had in mind for them, and that started us off badly.... And goodness Bonedoc7777, the "Honey Do list", I feel for you man....
the wife knows the season is over tommorrow, plans start to happen on sunday now, it cant get any worse
i think im gonna start drinking heavily to ease the pain. also stay away from the tv during the playoff games.
Hmm, two options Bonedoc, you can become an Arena League Fan, or you can buy the USFL games on DVD and tell her that it is a brand new league with many future NFL stars playing..
funny in a sad sadistic way since everything has gone wrong for us while everything has gone right for the them this year.
i wish my wife is way too smart, she know sports more then alot of men, she is a converted giants fan and screams at the tv just as much as i do, she just lost faith in the team and started to shop on sundays about week six
Well, at least your dog didn't abandon you...but that is one guilty looking dog in your avatar Bondedoc...
i still go back to that #9 pick...i guess time will tell if we made a good or bad choice...things just didnt start on the right foot there
Eddie Moore. If you have to pinpoint one moment in time. But more broadly, the entire time that Wannstedt was making the final personnel decisions for this team. I still believe the guy was a good head coach. He knew the X's and O's, he managed his staff well, and until the 2004 meltdown, he was a decent motivator. But he doomed himself with poor drafts and never recognizing that Jay Fiedler was nothing more than a stopgap QB. That is why the 2007 Dolphins were destined to finish under .500. But the reason they came thisclose to going down in history as the worst NFL team of all time is because they had minimal talent, no QB, tons of bad luck, AND a terrible head coach.
You idea that our downfall started when Saban left is laughable. It started when Saban began making draft picks. His two drafts are among the worst in our history, and he had the second overall pick in one of them. The guy couldn't guage NFL talent and couldn't get that talent to perform. When he got here, I advocated that he get rid of most of the vets on the team (JT, ZT, whomever). At that time, they could have both still netted us high draft picks and we could have started getting younger. But no, he brought in Vonnie Holliday and Kevin Carter (both good players but past their prime) and now we are 1-15. We need to start over (still) but will have now have to do it without the benefit of extra draft picks that we could've had. Oh well, such is life being a Miami Dolphins fan.
