Grimes? Mckinnie? Keller?

Here's the full list, according to Sportrac:
Chris Clemons would be number two, with a decision on Randy Starks/Paul Soliai being heavily dependent on defensive scheme moving forward.
Armon Binns, Dustin Keller, John Jerry, and Nolan Carroll I think are all guys you have to consider in specific circumstances. The rest I don't really think rate.Unlucky 13, xphinfanx, Rocky Raccoon and 1 other person like this. -

GRIMES GRIMES GRIMES. Its been far too long since we've seen a CB play at the level he has this season. Not like he had to do much to accomplish that considering what we've had the past 4-5 years...

Grimes and Starks, if I have to choose one its Grimes. Clabo making 3.5 million makes Baby Jesus cry.

Out of Grimes, Mckinnie, and Keller, its easily Grimes. Especially since Taylor and Davis apparently aren't good enough to sniff the field, Carrol is awful, and Patterson is made of glass.

Start with Grimes, Starks and Clemons. Those are the big 3 IMO.

Our free agent class is extremely important to consider, we have some glaring holes to fill on our roster that we will have to draft or pick up in free agency so not creating more holes by resigning our free agents is a huge issue. We are going to have a to take a RB with a high draft pick IMO, Oline as well. Keeping our defensive free agents should be a priority IMO. There are some guys on here, Grimes, Starks, Clemons and Solai should be resigned IMHO. Its going to be an interesting offseason with all of the nonsense going on and the uncertainty with our front office, coaching staff, etc. We might wind up losing some good players who just have had enough with the drama and want no part of the team unless we give them an outrageous contract.

1) Clemons
2) Starks
3) McKinnie
I'd franchise Brent Grimes. Tough call between Soliai and Starks, but unless Miami moves to a true 3-4, I'll bring back Starks; he's been the best DT we've had all season. I'd also look at bringing back either Austin Spitler or Marlon Moore, but purely for special teams prowess. Nothing more.
*Edit, scratch that, I'd rather try and re-sign Grimes if the tag number for a CB is over $10MM in 2014. That's too much.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -

Grimes is a no brainer.
I'd resign McKinnie. He's proven to still be good enough and it would allow us to concentrate on other positions on the OL. It would also allow us to draft a LT and develop him rather than throwing him into the deep end.
I'd also sign Soliai rather than Starks. Both are good players but we aren't going to be able to bring back both and there are others on the team (Odrick/Shelby) whose skill set is closer to Starks than Soliai.
We need a play maker at safety. Jones was suppose to be that guy but has regressed this year. His regression may mean we part ways with Clemons if we can upgrade the unit with a stud FA (not sure who is available). Clemons is a solid player though and if there isn't an upgrade available you bring him back. -
McKinnie isn't a free agent, he's set to make 2.7 million in the last year of his deal
-
But with the overhaul we are gonna need to do on the O-Line next year...we can't afford to also hunt for a starting LT.
I say...draft the RT, with an eye for LT for him in the future...and sign two Free agent Guards. -
I think Starks is dramatically more valuable to this team than Soliai, even with them playing the same position in the current defense. Starks upside is dominant, Soliai has at best been pretty good for streaks. If the defense switches to something where Starks would be on the field with Odrick more often, I don't think it should even be a question.

jboogie The sky is NOT falling!
Yes, Patterson is made of glass but you guys wouldn't offer him an incentive heavy contract? If he plays we have one of the best CB duos in the league. I think it's worth a shot, no?
-
Grimes is #1 by a mile. If we can retain him, Patterson stays in one piece and one of the rookies turns out I like the corners a lot.
#2 is Paul Soliai. Letting him and Starks leave means we are forced to overdraft a defensive tackle because of glaring need. I'd rather the team be able to wait and get a guy they want and get him in a value spot. Especially since we have to draft offensive lineman, lots of them.
I wouldn't mind bringing Keller in on a small money, two year deal. He won't be 100% next year but it could pay if in year two. -
