    Simple enough question:

-Martin Rucker..versatile Te waived by Dallas

-Travis Havner..converted Lb who scored 4 Td's for the Pack and plays Special Teams

-Giaconimi waived by Green Bay can play either Tackle position

    -Stefan Logan-high octane kick returner

-Derrick Burgess proven pass rushing DE/OLB

-Brandon James younger version of Stefan Logan a explosive returner

-Rob Pettitti vet swing tackle drafted by Tuna in Dallas

-Frank Summers-veteran H-Back waived by the Steelers

-James Sanders..on the roster bubble in New England due to trade for Jerard Page.

-Bobby Carpenter Vet special teams ace and nickel ILB

-Tim Shaw had 30 special teams tackles waived by the Bears

Waiver claims are due by 12pm tomorrow afternoon

    Thoughts?

    Spencer Havner, not Travis.

And since it's such a ridiculous notion that he was cut, I'm sure the general opinion is that David Martin is the waived/cut player who could help us the most.

Stefan Logan because we'll be dumb not to.He's a field position changer and we need that.

I can see Carpenter coming here because of Parcells and his man crush for ex-players.If he still has some gas left,he's help in other situations to besides ST.

Breno Giacomini because I like saying his name.If he was Italian I would have liked him even more!

I wouldn't mind bringing in Logan. Also, I like the TE Martin retrieval as well. Not sure what the FO has planned but if we don't have a new TE by Week 1 I'm hoping Martin is signed then.

I'm not necessarily looking for players to help us this year as we basically have our squad so I would look for the best available rookies and 2nd year players mostly.

DT Jeff Owens - There isnt really any room for him but I want Starks to concentrate on DE and this is a guy that could be good next year with a season of work

WR TJ Houshmandzadeh - although not a young or rookie receiver, he's clearly an upgrade over Wallace or Moore

S Al Afalava - young and would be an upgrade over our current depth at S

RB Joique Bell - an upgrade over Lex Hilliard

WR Dezmon Briscoe - Although I wasnt the biggest of fans of this guy, I think his upside is higher than Moore and Wallace

WR Brandon Stokely - I dont know if he's washed up but if he isnt and it was simply because of Eric Decker's good play, he might be a consideration

RB Dimitri Nance - Another upgrade over Lex Hilliard

QB Dan LeFevour - Not a huge fan of Thigpen, so this would be a better developmental prospect IMO

TE Chase Coffman - Havent really followed his NFL career but liked him in college.

S Jeremy Miles - I like him more than Reshard Jones

S Larry Asante - Anther S I like more than Jones

LB Steve Octavien - I think there's potential there

TE Martin Rucker - I liked him in college but he hasnt done anything in the NFL. This is simply a bet on our coaching staff being able to get something out of him

WR Blair White - a possession receiver

FS DaJuan Morgan - Seemed like a good prospect in college

WR Rich Gunnell - a possession receiver

C Ted Larsen - thought he was a good prospect. Maybe needs a year of development

DT Kendrick Clancy - Dont know if he's wore down but a few years ago he was very solid

RB Andre Brown - seemed like a good prospect a year ago

WR Brooks Foster - as a 5th worth a shot

WR Todd Watkins - If you want speed this is your guy. I would bring him in for a year and see if there is anything to develop

DL William Joseph - Another guy that may be done but was good at one point

TE Cornelius Ingram- His knee may have ended his career before it started but if there is anything there and its not degenerative the potential as a pass catching TE is pretty big

WR Danario Alexander - Another guy who's knee gave him trouble but his upside is big.

DE Victor Adenyenju -Can get pressure. Probably dont need him though

QB Jonathan Crompton - Like him more than Thigpen

QB Jevon Snead - Probably useless at this point but if he ever puts it all together could be good. I would rather keep Thigpen but if we got a trade for Thiggy than its not a bad prospect to try to coach up

Many of these guys arent going to help this year and some may be outright busts. I wouldnt want too many of them at one time but we could afford to get two or three and stash them for next year

Martin Rucker was the guy that broke Micah Johnson's tackle in Thursdays game and got the Cowgirls into position to make the winning FG. He's a pretty good looking TE.

I liked the idea of DMart but if he cannot go, he cannot go, no use pinning over his loss.

Ah, must have missed that thanks Pads. :hi5:

I guess the new questions to me is, is the FO satisfied with who we have at TE? I know my vote doesn't count by having a backup TE who has been a ghost all preseason long has me just a tad concerned.

And while I'm on the subject, when can we start nabbing people off the waiver wire if we choose to?

Tremendously versatile at MO, I really liked him coming out.

Chase Coffman if healthy is a good Wr playing Te, both are tall targets with good athleticism and a feel for the passing game, but we need a blocking Te.

I don't think we need Carpenter at this exact moment, I would have him on speed dial if Anderson is dinged up as imho he would be a better option than JD Folsom or Spitler.

Of course I'd love Logan simply because he offers instant production and would also make Nolan Carrol an option to put on the practice squad if/when Will Allen comes back.

I suspect we are going to see roster churning at the bottom of the lineup that is similar to 2008 so do not fall in love with anyone on the bottom 25% of the 2010 roster as our position in the waiver claim system is #12 and Irish and Sparano like sifting through players from week to week.

Noon today the waiver claims are processed, I suspect we will have several waiver claims maybe as many as 5.

Mando said "Grant and Douglas may not be here on Monday they are looking for younger player to develop but who can rush the passer".

I've seen every cut player named, all 700, there aren't any to be had.

Macho Harris cannot cover Stephen Hawking on an out route.

Q Demps is nicked and he also cannot cover well

    Hartwig declined

Blackmon is coming back from an ACL and had a setback that he claimed was a 2 week deal..Pack didn't wish to wait.

Spencer Havner is a great prospect for us as he plays Special Teams as well.

Not to slam your picks JT, maybe you didn't have the information? I spent all day looking at these guys and their flaws were mentioned.

There is a Giants Olineman Herb Taylor who lost out when Andrews was traded for, if he worked with Gugs then he could be on the radar to replace Proctor.

I think needs would be. (Don't have any names pop up).
I have not seen a good answer at a good kick returner.
Appears we need another TE that can block well.
O line might be the first grab by Sparano.
Our secondary still needs a major play maker.
That said we seem to have alot of voids to fill.

Did the 23rd hack your account?

    :D

I'm not so much sure we have voids, or just questions.

We could use another Te and a better G/C back up than Proctor.

Would love a Return Specialist like Logan or James just to have a shot at making a big play on ST's.

Not alone in seeing some value in Bobby Carpenter.

I will say, the Rams played a cruel trick on Romo, RT Barron will get him killed this year if he starts.

    Where would White fit?

And Asante could not make it Cleveland.

And Sanders will be kept in NE, Page is replacing McGowan who tore a chest muscle.

You find a way for him. I don't think both Wallace and Moore are necessary.

I like Asante. He's a box player but I like him. He's smart.

White would replace Moore or Wallace. The Browns are trying to sneak Asante onto the practice squad. He needs another year of developing but if you can afford to stash someone, the way we are doing with Reshard Jones, then you can pick him up and have him replace Culver or Jones

Then no thanks, i'd much rather keep Wallace and Moore than add White.

May as well say it now, imho Wallace and Moore both will make plays for us this season, I can see what Sparano sees in those two players, both are tough, athletic and have good upsides.

The gauntlet is tossed down ! :wink2:

Reshad Jones will be active on game days Adamp, he is probably the best Special teams player from this draft class. And Culver is a proven commodity and Nate Jones replacement.

Hmm, my vision for Moore is a possible replacement for D Bess, depending on what Bess does this yr, as for Wallace, I'd not trade a boundary Wr with Wallace's skills for a Slot Wr with White's skillset.

Choosing Wallace and Moore and to a lesser extent J Pruitt goes against conventional NFL wisdom, however I think Ireland hit a jackpot with those three players, the proverbial longshot that came in as it were.

I do expect some unfortunate dropped passes from Moore and Wallace this year, I also suspect they will make plays when on the field.

In the Dallas game, Wallace was covered, and made outstanding plays, he created his own opportunity to make those plays, that is hard enough to find in a drafted Wr, let alone a UDFA.

well if they're on our roster of course they will make plays for us. not saying they wont. i'm just picking players who were cut that could make more plays for us IMO. Same goes for Jones. I fully expect him to play but so could Asante and I think Asante could be better.

I mean "plays" long plays, explosive ones, those two will be matched on the worst Db's they gotta eat in those situations.

If we go 4 wide on the goal line, 6'4 Wallace will face the opponents dime back..he has to win that match up.

Another waived player that I really liked in 09 was Herman Johnson, can play G can play T, massive man at 6'5 340, Cardinals cut him but I know we scouted him heavily in 09 as myself and Boomer had a big discussion about him.

Jeff Owens was waived by the Eagles, he is a youngster with good measurables on the Dline.

My only choice would be Logan. Although he has been about the same as what Bess gives us on punts, I believe he will be an upgrade on kickoffs over Carrol. Kinda strange that he is taking Ginn's place when he was our return on the trade.

Well, if Nalbone does not pan out, we could do worse than picking up Schmitt to play H-Back/FB.

And am I the only one who hopes Pete Carroll gets run this year?
