Dude, I call the anti-Clemens people out on JN all the time. There arn't many of them, probably around 10% of the site, but they're fools when it comes to evaluating Quarterbacks. These are usually the same fools who thought we should've traded up for Darren McFadden with Thomas Jones, Leon Washington and Jesse Chatman in house already.

To debate your the first bolded point. In 2007, Kellen Clemens had a 6.1 Y/A avg. In 2007, Chad Pennington had a 6.8 Y/A avg. So that completely throws off your conclusion that Clemens attempts passes of more length than Kellen Clemens (plus Pennington played behind that same line, and yet even after more than half a year there is still a QB battle...that should tell you something regarding the Jets feelings on Clemens).

Also, from ESPN listed weights, Kris Jenkins has only 18 lbs. on DeWayne Robertson. But you are right, they don't compare. Their scouting reports on ESPN gives you quite a good description of the difference between the two. While I think Kris Jenkins will inevitably be a fine 3-4 NT, I just believe that to expect him to be great and improve the run defense immensely right off the bat is quite an expectation.

ESPN listed weights are a bit off then.

Kris Jenkins is 360 while Dewayne Robertson at his biggest was 317. So unless Dewayne Robertson magical put on 30lbs since his arrival in Denver, which would just make his game even worse, ESPN needs to do some updates. Jenkins is a great Defensive Tackle and he along with David Harris playing for a full season should indeed improve the run defense significantly.

There is still a Quarterback battle because you cannot judge a Quarterback over the span of 8 games. Clemens did not come out like Joe Montana, and nor should he have been expected to. Not everybody is handed a great team around him like Ben Roethlisberger.

The most over-rated and over-used stat by Game Manager Lovers is the Attempted Pass Yardage. I'm not saying you're one of those, but I'm just saying. Thats great that Pennington averaged a whole 0.7 yards more an attempt. He also attempted 10 more passes (not that that means much -- if anything) and was also trusted more by the coaching staff.

For the most part they kept Clemens locked up, but once there is more trust in him they will open up the offense to him more. The role Clemens had last season was that he'd have one receiver and if he's not open, he'd be told to make an immediate checkdown. Once he has more games under his belt, Clemens will be slinging the ball over the field. No coaching staff lets their rookies, or first time starters, go out and sling it like Brett Favre, especially with a hideous line.

In the end though, it won't matter. No. Because the organization will want their $64 million investment whose still living off of 12 great games in 2002, to start. Its sad, but its true. There was no other reason to keep Pennington the starter until the team was 1-7 last season, especially when Clemens showed great promise in Week 2 at Baltimore with the team still upbeat about the season ahead. No, they won't go after Favre seriously enough (unfortunately) and Pennington, the Practice Champion, will win out. It will be pathetic to see a drunken fest in the parking lot for sure as we get ready for more of Pennington's awesome 4th quarter Interceptions. He single handley lost at least three games on his own in the 4th quarter in 2007, lets see how many he can screw up in 2008.

I have a question for you Aqua.

Do you believe everything Keith Olberman says? Take it from someone who was at the game. The fans, for the most part, were not cheering Pennington's injury. Some were cheering the fact that he could make it off the field on his own, but the loudest cheers came when Clemens was entering the game because the majority of Jets fans want to see Clemens as the starter. They're sick and tired of Chad living off of one great season. Sick of it. Finally.

I was cheering, but I was cheering Clemens' entrance. My breath stopped and I was worried for Chad, but once he rose and hoped off I knew he was okay and started to cheer for Clemens as he ran onto the field.

Sure there were some a-holes who were drunk as **** cheering on the injury, but don't label that as the majority. Most Jets fans were cautious to cheer and when they did it was for Pennington getting off on his own, but more so for the entrance of Clemens.

BTW, JN never did have this problem until recently. We are the board that left JetsInsider in 2005, and until recently we havn't had the problem with the 16 year old noobs, no offense alen1 because you are a very intelligent fan, causing problems with the visiting fans and being sometimes a bit too optimistic.

I dunno, theres plenty of members here who:

    a) post a thread the moment any given player is released/disgruntled, and asks if we should get him

    b) want Brett Farve to play here, despite the obvious reasons not do so

Things like vendor carts being thrown and people falling down escalators happen in a lot of NFL and other professional sport venues, not just the Meadowlands. I've seen worse in Cleveland and I was only there for one game.

Pitiful 2006 team? The defense let up the 6th least amount of points and the offense was right in the middle of the NFL ranks. Hardly would call that pitiful. I know you get all gung-ho on your yardage stats, but this isn't Fantasy Football, its what matters, aka the points!

Chad hasn't been liked by most Jets fans since he got hurt for the 47th time in 2005, Week 3 vs Jacksonville. That was the final straw for most fans. No matter if he was able to game manage a team to a 10-6 record and **** the bed in the Wild Card Round.
