I think Pennington is still a better QB than Henne. But I think if Henne keeps playing the way he did yesterday, after this year that won't be the case anymore.
-
I think Pennington's balls are easier for the players to catch. Pennington throws "to" the WR's, Henne tends to throw "at" the WR's.
---------- and next year Thigpen will be better than both of them. Don't hate me guys, I like Henne too but this Thigpen kid can really spread out a defense. -
Thigpen will be 27 next year. What makes you think he will get that much better while Henne sits in neutral ?Larry Little likes this. -
Pennington is better than anyone else until proven otherwise, defined as a better season than 2008, preferably with a higher YPA and at least one playoff victory.
The Thigpen obsession is ridiculous.baboo72, and unluckyluciano like this. -
I think Henne's physical tools even him out against Pennington's experience, as of right now. Honestly, I'm comfortable with either guy under center. With that being said, you have to start the younger player with the better physical tools, because after another year of experience for Henne, the comparison between him and Pennington might not be so 'equal' any more.
-
This is just silly. THIGPEN SPREADS OUT THE DEFENSE? REALLY?
I hate typing in caps, but I don't know if this is a running joke or something. Thigpen SUCKS. All his yards came from dump passes and he decides its not a smart idea to step into your throws. Hence, having passes that hit the ground before they reach the wideout. Oh yeah, Thigpen can spread a defense out so much he decides to throw the ball up in the air for grabs while he's being taken down. Wait I forgot, Thigpen can spread out a defense so well that he can't even score within the 15 yard line 3 TIMES against the 2nd and 3rd team defense.adamprez2003, Trowa, MonstBlitz and 5 others like this. -

I don't know if this whole thread is a joke or what, but Henne is by far the best QB we have. I don't get all the love for Thigpen, at all. The guy is so inconsistent. And why in the world would anyone suggest that Pennington start?
Yeah I do think this thread is a joke, and it reminds me of some others from the past at FH -
-
Clearly.... Pat White... I mean he's so good that we don't want to play him in the preseason and risk him getting a bogus injury...

You're joking with this thread, right? Come on, get real.

Thigpen is getting an awful lot of playing time for someone who is ridiculous. They are obviously taking a long hard look at what he can do for a reason. If you smash together Pennington and Henne, you probably end up with a Thigpen.
Thigpen won't be the answer anytime soon but he can spread out a defense better than anyone on this team, and we didn't get Brandon Marshall to keep throwing 10 yards did we? Pennington and Henne are the better QB's in our offense (this year) but I like Thigpen's style better. I feel that he is worth watching and keeping and apparently the coaches feel the same way. -
-
Honestly? is thigpen better than henne?? that question shouldnt be allowed to be asked. Its obvious that thigpen is the 3rd best QB on this team.
-
There are also additional unique circumstances here. Pennington's arm is still rehabbing, so he's not getting many pass plays to keep his arm as fresh as possible. White is simply useless and appears to be on the way out, so why give reps to someone who won't be on your team in a month?
You read the wrong things into routine events. -
Thigpen is getting more time because he obviously needs the most work. He is being advertised for a trade. Probably the only reason Pat White is still on the roster.
Pennington may very well be the smartest QB in the game. That helps make up for the fact that he just can't make all the throws.
Henne played damn close to a perfect game last night. What else do you want from him?
I can think of just a few things.
Get rid of the ball when in trouble.
Learn to trust in Marshall. Throw it up there and let him get it.
Continue to improve on reading the D as well as looking off the DBs.
He is still learning, but 100times better than Sancheese and the soon to be third place Jets. -
It's Henne easily. CP is a better game manager and he throws a very catchable ball, but his arm is down a notch or two from what it was. And Thigpen is a scattershot. The only way anybody can think he's better is if they only remember his good plays and either forget or blame the far too many bad plays on somebody else.

okay let me try to put this to rest.
Penny has the perfect mind and Henne has a rocket for an arm. If you "smash" them togethor you dont get Thygpen you get Marino.
Henne played a great game but its obvious he need to work on his touch passing still but it seems his accuracy has gotten betteralong with his decision making. He is our starter for a good reason he is young and has the ability to become an elite QB and his timetable fits best with our young team.
Penny right now is probally our best Qb bc of everything he brings to the tabl ebut I dont think anyone wants a 34 yr old qb coming off yet another shoulder sugery to be our future.
Thiggy is like a young homo romo but he is the same age as him. He is a player not a leader and that is why he isnt a starter. He makes bad decisions and is reckless in his play.
I dont know how this thread got brought up this week when it would have been warrented much more following last weeks game against the bucs. -
Pennington and Henne are both better than Thig - agreed, and I agree with you that Pennington is probably the smartest QB since the days of Griese. But, I dont think there is room for an argument when I say that Thig is a cross between H&P and that I like his style better. Sure, he is young and making mistakes, but someday he'll be very good.
I never thought that I could be so cross examined by offering my opinion. -
The only thing the three have in common is they are all QB'sTrowa, MonstBlitz and GMJohnson like this. -

Well everyone, I must be wrong. I thought this was a place were people could give their opinions in a country where we have free speech but I guess I was wrong. Why don't we all go to cobrajets house and kill him.
EVERYONE HERE NEEDS TO GROW UP AND ACT LIKE ADULTS!
It's an opinion guys, an opinion! Can you all read? Enough with the all you can eat character assassination. -
One problem with you response, did he not ask for everyone's opinion?
I agree we don't have to kill the guy, but as you said, we are free to give our opinion on his thoughts.Trowa, cowboy82nd, Ozzy and 2 others like this. -
-Type A: pocket passers (Dan Marino types)
-Type B: mobile types (Steve Young types)
-Type C: combination types (John Elway types)

If he didn't ask for everyone's opinion than what is the poll for? (...and you'll notice that not everyone gave the same vote so this must be a pretty good thread after all.)
Sometime people do threads like this just to get everyone talking and stir the pot and it take an enormous amount of balls to do so. So the guy likes Thigpen, so what.
ALL THREE QB'S IN THE POLL ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM GUYS! - RELAX!cobrajet likes this. -
Is it raining everywhere in America today or is this just the first time in the history of this forum anyone has been so viciously attacked for liking a Miami Dolphin player. Last time I checked Thigpen was a Dolphin right? So where does the attack come from?
Gee imagine: a Miami Dolphin fan who claims to like a Miami Dolphin player on a Miami Dolphin forum. I agree lets flat out kill the SOB, How dare he!!^%& -
If anything happened to their starting string qb, there is no comfort level the backup could hold the ship down. Having Penny and Thigpen gives us incredible depth at the position, great players who know their role, can help with practices, breakdown film, work with wideouts and DB's.
Henne is by far our most talented qb, Penny is the most accomplished and i'm sure happy we have thigpen in the unfortunate circumstances that one or both of them miss any time.
Look at the Jags last night, their BACKUP is Mcgown. I would take Thigpen over Mcgown any day of the week. AND HE'S our 3rd string qb!
our FO has built this team to have depth as well as better talent on first teams. Something we haven't had in a long time. Injuries happen in the NFL, we need solid depth at many positions. Our qb depth is amazing. Ask Minny how they would fare if sage or tavares had to take the reins. They would even prefer Thigpen over those two.
Just my opinion. I know he's not the best, but he's better than many teams backup, not a bad player to have rights to. -
For the record, and in case you didn't get it the first time, and apparently you didn't - I never said that Thigpen was better than Henne. I said I liked his style better. He is more mobile and can spread a defense out better because of it. Mobile QB's can play head games with S's and LB's that non mobile QB's can't and passing lanes open up because of it. I like Thigpen because of his style.
Is there a Prozac shortage out there?
