I want to discuss something positive. Please keep Jeff Ireland out of this thread. I don't care if you think we won't find a good one with him at the helm. I want to know who you guys think would be the best choice.

Kubiak would be great as an OC and QB coach.
I think the QB and OL coach need to be fired.
My first choice would be Joe Lombardi. Young (32). In an aggressive offensive system at New Orleans. And has been a QB coach there throughout Brees and Payton's tenure.
Joe Lombardi
Quarterbacks; born June 6, 1981, Seattle. Tight end Air Force 1992-94. No pro playing experience. College coach: Dayton 1996-98, Virginia Military Institute 1999, Bucknell 2000, Mercyhurst 2002-05. Pro coach: Atlanta Falcons 2006, joined Saints in 2007. -

No ****ing clue. Seriously. Not a ****ing one. Its not gonna be one that anyone will like....and...Im just dumb enough to believe he will get us back to torching defenses.
I want an OC that can out coach...the other team. He can do that with 5 plays..or he can do that with 500. I dont care. I want an OC that can adapt. That can exploit matchup issues. That will move guys around....that will put the ball in the hands of the play makers. Who is that OC? **** if I knowPhins_Fan_87, rdhstlr23, FinSane and 3 others like this. -

A lot of the media have chimed in, but I doubt that the next OC will be a former HC or OC from another team. Rumors have Ben McAdoo from GB, an old cohort of Philbin's... I'd love to see Kubiak, but with philbin still on a one yr contract, pickings could be slim...

This is what I would be concerned about as well:
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 20m
Some people have made the point, and I agree, that landing top-notch OC may be difficult with Philbin's job potentially on line next season. -
Honestly don't have a clue either.. A lot of these offensive coordinators out there, have some bad habits. Even Kubiak has bad habits, Linehan as well. I'll just trust Philbin with McAdoo if that's his choice. Regardless if it fails Philbin is gone next year, so it's a one year deal for the new offensive coordinator. Here's your shot McAdoo, don't blow it.

If I'm a young OC I look at the points allowed per game and think I can probably help turn it around. The offense isn't totally devoid of talent and we have talent returning from injury.
If I'm an experienced coach maybe I dont want the mess. Maybe I want something more stable. Young people are more likely to jump in and tackle challenges people seem to think they shouldn't IMO. -

Brian Daboll.....this is his type of gig.

A) Go to a successful team who had their OC promoted elsewhere.
B) A new regime where I have time to implement a long term plan. -
It's almost certainly going to be someone in a West Coast-based offensive tree. Guys like Chudzinki, Turner, Linehan are probably not going to get any consideration.
I'd prefer it be someone along the lines of Gary Kubiak or Mike Shanahan.Boik14 likes this. -
My hope was to have Philbin fired and bring in Malzahn. But it doesn't look like that will happen. Rhett Lashlee is Auburn's OC and has moved around with Malzahn pretty much his whole career. He's very young (30) and has no NFL experience, but with Philbin as an experienced offensive coach I'm not sure how much of a problem that really would be. Malzahn says he deserves a lot of credit, but I really don't know what that dynamic is there. But it would be a bold and interesting move.

My real list:
Ken Zampese, Chad Morris, and Adam Gase -
Shannahan without a doubt would be my top choice to run this offense...No question about it. Guy has always made the most out of his quarterbacks and running backs...Two positions that really need to be developed in order for us to get anywhere.

I would take a long hard look at Norv Turner. He got that offense moving at times, especially with Brian Hoyer in. Their combined QB statistics were not really that bad.
