DefCord's around the NFL will begin to dial in the Patriots offense.

Not sure how Moss could have helped tackle Peyton Hillis.

As I've said all along. Brady is mediocre without Moss. His numbers are good, but nowhere near great.
Brady with Moss (4 games)- 9TD, 2INT, 70% comp, 110 QBR
Brady without Moss (4 games)-5TD, 2INT, 57% comp, 85 QBR
The Patriots defense seemd like they turned it around before the Browns game. However, if they keep playing like they did against them and their first 4 opponents they won't be making it to the post season. Their offense, without Moss, can no longer out score anyone. -
Of course they miss Moss...HOF receiver who's still one of the best, if not the best, deep threat in the game. I bet Welker misses him most though

32 ppg with Moss
22 ppg w/o Moss.
I love it!!! -
I would argue they miss Viniateri, Teddi Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Asante Samuel, Richard Seymour, Corey Dillon, Ty Law, Larry Izzo and yes even David f-ing Givens more than they miss Moss at this point.

I thought we were talking offense though. If you want to get into the Pats defense and why they were the reason for the Super Bowl wins we can do that too! -
-
And of course the guy responsible for their dynasty

The Pats* will definitely miss Moss at the end of the year. The Pats* can't win away from Foxboro to save their life. They'll need to run the ball and play defense, which they're not good at doing both. The Pats* do not scare me at alll.

Here is the thing. Before Moss came to the Pats, Brady had the following QBR's:
2001 86.5
2002 85.7
2003 85.9
2004 92.6
2005 92.3
2006 87.9
And during that span they won 3 Super Bowls with his high 80's QBR. Now granted they had a much better defense back then. But if they rebuild their defense through the draft (they have a bazillion picks) and develop some of the young guys they have now, they can still win with Brady and no Moss.
I will agree that he won't be posting the insane kind of numbers he has the past few years. And I know he is a whiner, but I think he is a pretty good QB. I hate the guy, but I have to give the devil his due.
P.S. I bet you he misses Faulk as much as he misses Moss, if not more.McLovin and MikeHoncho like this. -
That's the point. The Pats were winning Super Bowls because of defense, not because of Brady. He's a good QB and a very good QB for that system. However, so was Cassel. All this media hype about Brady and they rarely mention the Pats defense. However, when they have average defense's they don't win Super Bowls. Moss made Culpepper look like Dan Marino. Moss did the same for Brady. I suspect Moss will make Young look tons better too. I bet, if Childress wasn't ******ed, that Moss would have rejuvinated Favre and that entire Vikes offense if given the chance. -
-
Is the guy an all time great? Probably not. But he's a very good QB that knows how to win. I'd love to see the guy suck, but I've seen enough of him to know that he doesn't. Put it this way. I'd be very happy if Sanchez turns out to be as good as Brady.
I guess the real test would be to see Brady play on another team and in another system....but I don't think we will ever see that happen. -

Depends on what type of an offense. In most cases I'd take Moss though. I think for the Jets, a Brady style QB, ie ball control, short, high % passing etc, would fit fine. Brady would look horrible on a team like the Colts, IMO.
I hear you about Brady on another team. However, we have th next best thing. Cassel, a crappy QB, did really well. -
-
Brian Crable will not be far behind, they just have no room to roster all of their picks, and I submit, evaluate them properly.
When you have 9 or 10 picks a year, how many reps can the get in minicamp, training camp and OTA's? They basically have made a 5th rd pick a UDFA just through the sheer amount of bodies they bring in. -
Here is a question to ponder. Do the Pats win those SB's with Drew Bedsore?

As long as Adam Vinetari is still the kicker. -

Yes. If a QB who hadn't started one game since high school wins 11 games the season he starts, yes. If Dilfer won a SB Bledsoe would have too.MikeHoncho likes this. -
Patriots IR'd all pro kicker Stephen Gostkowski today as well.

So why doesn't every team in the NFL run the same type of system offense that NE does? It can't be something that can't be duplicated. If NE has an offensive scheme that will allow any QB to step in and be successful, other teams would be nuts not to copy it.
I have to think there is more to Brady's success than the scheme, but that is just my opinion. And while Cassel had a poor season last year, his QBR through 8 games this year is 89.2. In 2008 it was 89.4 for the year. Granted there are still 8 games to be played. -

The Pats D was in decline for years. The offense is what kept them a really good team. Now with the D still a shadow of its former self and no Moss, the team is simply not as good. I've been saying for a month that the Pats were not that good of a team. With Moss gone their offense is facing the same struggle that Miami's faces. They have nobody that stretches the field and their running game is inconsistent. In fact, IMO their running game is worse than Miami's. And NE's defense is worse than Miami's as well. They only beat Miami due to Miami's STs meltdown.
I wonder if Miami's offense would have been closer to what NE's was if we'd claimed Moss? -
We have to win this Sunday, and Thursday.
