Try Separating how you feel about the guy as a coach and lets look where the blame should lye?, there are a lot of paths you can go down here...Belief that Philbin is a decent man who holds a high value on morals and conduct, someone who would never turn his shoulder away if this was transparent in the locker room, or, you really think that his lack of attention to the locker room jeopardized the well being of a tortured soul and that he should pay, or you think that the team has poor leadership among the team vets and allowed this situation to get out of hand, or you think philbin is responsible for putting together a team that has poor leadership, or, it's an isolated incident that has been handled and we should be allowed to move on??.It seems likely that this was good friends cuttin on each other, like we all have done before, with our own friends, but, one guy who just couldn't take the tone of the jokes anymore, after the fact that his professional life was not pointing upward, and one guy who didn't know his friend to well, who's someone who doesn't know where the line is??? To blame a good man like Philbin for allegedly coaching a team that has racism running thru it's locker room, is strait fu&$in media sensationalism, BS
This is a tough spot for the coach, one thing I do believe about him is that he runs the tightest ship he possibly can, and has great integrity, and I have mostly agreed with his belief system in how to build a team of character, I hope the players play hard for the guy because I personally can't find the logic to put it all on him..

Nobody. This story was blown out of proportion by an emotionally unstable player. The rookie hazing that is now considered bullying is a league wide issue and an NFL problem, not a Miami Dolphin problem. Once the dust settles the main victim will be Richie while Martin will be laughing to the bank.

I've worked in many different environments and nearly every single one of them involved people of different races or religions making fun of each other, often non-stop. In a male dominated environment I would say it's more the norm than anything.
HOWEVER, if they knew Martin was emotionally unstable, they should have toned it down. Especially if he really was suicidal. -

You don't issue a public statement on behalf of the organization calling the victim crazy.
The right thing to do is to clean house. Ross has not done the right thing. -
For the record, I don't believe the player should be paid under those circumstances.ASUFinFan likes this. -

People need to stop jumping to conclusions and pay more attention to the facts we have.
Philbin hasn't done anything wrong. He was told of Martin's issues in April. Martin didn't blame Incognito or anything. He just discussed with Philbin his own issues. There was no incident and martin even joined in with the others and hazed and pranked players himself. He got demoted when McKinnie came in and got depressed. I minor prank was played on him (which was the same one he helped play on garner a week earlier) and he lost it.
Not only has Philbin been on top of it the whole time and reacted accordingly as new info has come out, be also coached the team to an overtime victory against a 6-2 team on a short week during all this.
People calling for Philbin's head for this are a 100% wrong.P h i N s A N i T y and joenhre like this. -
How do you know what was said between Martin and Philbin?
How do you know that Philbin was/is on top of all this?
Martin didn't get demoted, Clabo got demoted, Martin changed postions. -

Unless the Dolphins told Ritchie to target Martin, the Dolphins players and coaches should be left out of this. Martin should take his case to the DA and if the DA feels their is enough there, press charges. Sort this out in court.

Can we use it as an excuse to get rid of Mike Sherman please...

Incognito was under the impression that this "emotionally unstable" player had tried to commit suicide three times- as per esteemed ThePhins posted mommabilly. How can you possibly think equipped with that knowledge that Incognito is not at all culpable?dolfan22 likes this. -

Don't need to watch the PC, at this point, Philbin can't be trusted. If he took care of this issue in April, why is this national news today?

The fact of the matter is that Martin was mentally stable enough at various times this season to participate in hazing and pranking.joenhre likes this. -

GM , coaches , veteran players , players. To varying degrees , everyone may be accountable for parts of this imo .

Official does not mean that it was necessarily a press release that you can find on the site.
Official statement is any statement made by a rep to press. Official statement all week last week was that he is out dealing with mental, emotional issues. -
leadership more than Philbin, unless of course Philbin is the one having beers and going to strip clubs with these guys.. which I doubt

Some of you really think Philbin should be fired because of this? wow. I don't know about you guys but ever since day one when we drafted this kid and I listened to his interviews he's always seemed a little odd. He never really seemed very confident in himself while answering questions or what not. I think maybe Jeff and crew could of done a little more work into his background or character. I don't know maybe it was impossible to tell but to me he didnt have that mentality of a typical NFL offensive lineman. But I don't really see how Philbin could be fired over this.
