    What's up

Who would you guy's go with this week for the 3rd receiver slot?

    Davone Bess @ Houston
    or
    Robert Meachum @ Chicago

Figured Meachum's the better option now that Colston's out but it is against a good Chicago defense and Henne's gonna spread the ball.

    Thanks

I'd go Meachum. Both teams will spread the ball around, but NO is missing their top WR and Meachum is a candidate to fill that void (IMO Nelson is the top candidate, but you never know).

I'd probably roll with Bess. I think Bess is a more consistent player and he'll get you 5-70 or something where Meachem could be between 1-15 to 6-120 and a TD. Meachem is more of a risk, IMO.

MeachBUM has more upside. Bess is the safer play. Bess will probably get you at least 6 points. MeachBUM could get you 1-3, but has much more potential to take a long one to the house.

We call him MeachBUM because he's always a reserve WR on our squad and he always lets us down when we activate him but blows up whilst on our bench.

Thanks guys, yeah I definitely agree about Bess being the safer pick, I know if I start him Meachum will have a bomb from Brees lol

Ok, here's another one. For the RB/WR flex spot, standard non-PPR scoring:

    Cadillac Williams @ NYG
    Felix Jones @ SF
Steve Smith (the Carolina one) vs GB
    Jordy Nelson @ CAR

I have Lance Moore too, but wouldn't consider him a serious option just yet. Steve Smith went nuts last week and the Panthers are sure to throw against Green Bay, but GB also has a very good secondary. Felix Jones should have had a 20 point week against the Jets if they just called running plays inside the 5 to ice the game. But I'm leaning toward Cadillac right now.

I would actually go with Meachem over Bess. (Seriously, why do people get Meachem's name wrong?) Reggie Bush appears to have replaced Bess in the role of checkdown receiver.

    pocoloco, go with Felix Jones.

I don't know, I'm just not a fan of Cadillac Williams ... I feel like he's burnt me too much in the past. And the NYG have one of the toughest defensive fronts in all of football.

Steve Smith had a good game, but he's playing against a Green Bay squad that lost at New Orleans and will have something to prove. Plus, despite the hype, Cam Newton is still a rookie and rookies make mistakes.

I really like Jordy Nelson, the dude grew up literally miles down the road from here. But he's still the second (or third, really) option on a crowded Green Bay team. Rodgers is great, but he's throwing to Jennings, Finley, Driver, and finally Nelson. I'm just concerned there isn't enough to go around.

My pick would probably be Jones. The 49ers have an average defense, but their offense is simply anemic. There's a good chance Dallas could jump out to a lead and look to pound the ball. Choice might get some touches, but JJ loves Felix ... so I can see the Cowboys feeding it to him quite a bit in this game.

If it's PPR I would go with Bess, otherwise I'd ride or die with Meachem. The Saints need a #1 WR and it isn't Lance Moore, and Devery Henderson is even more inconsistent than Meachem.

The Giants' DL is ailing right now due to injuries. They'll get better, but this is a nice time to play against them.

Caddy is fine as a fill in this week, but Felix definitely has the better situation.

I never noticed they were spelling it wrong... I've talked enough Saints with Saint Greg that you learn to spell their names right lol.

Bess had 5 receptions for 92 yards on Monday night. He's definitely going to get his fair share of targets regardless of Bush.

There are indeed two Es in Meachem.

I honestly don't think the Patriots game was conclusive in terms of targeting data. Everyone had their fair share of targets that game by sheer necessity; it was one of the largest volume passing games in NFL history.

Nothing is conclusive after week one... I just believe that Bess will be targeted enough to be considered a safe 6-7 points in non-PPR and 10-11 points in PPR.

But agree to disagree I guess... just like on that Sproles trade. :shifty:

He very well could if history holds, but I don't see us passing nearly as often once Daniel Thomas is healthy.

 I considered countering with Holmes and DeAngelo for Bradshaw and Floyd, you know. Going to wait and see on DeAngelo, though. He's a slow starter but gets going eventually.

So no one thinks Lance moore is worth it this week if he's active?
