Every year we watch Tiger Woods dominate the sport of Golf, getting multiple wins. Then, during the Olympics, we all watched the Michael Phelps dominate, winning eight gold medals, breaking the record. Watching it, I thought to myself, whose more dominant, Tiger Woods or Michael Phelps? Here's a list of their accomplishments:
He's been ranked the top Golfer in the world for 166 weeks now (3 years, 2 months). He has also won several other awards including Golf Writers Assocation of America Player of the Year four times and PGA Player of the Year five times. He's never lost in the European Tour playoff and has seven total European Tour wins. Woods also has an impressive cut streak and another 17 professional wins.
Moving on to the great Michael Phelps. He has compiled several achievements including winning the gold medal 14 times (16 total, 14 gold, two silver). He holds seven world records in swimming including an incredibly impressive eight gold medals, surpassing Mark Spitz record. He's won four World Swimmer of the Year awards and six American Swimmer of the Year awards. Here is a list of his awards:
After compiling the statistics, I ask you, whose more dominant in their respective sports, Tiger Woods or Michael Phelps?

After comparing Woods and Phelps dominance over the years, I thought I'd look at this years Olympics. Who has been more dominant, Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt of Jamaica? The 23 year old Phelps broke Mark Spitz record of eight gold medals and dominated the other competitors with his record breaking times. Awards of Phelps are:
Jamaicas, 21 year old, Usain Bolt is the reigning champion over 100 meters and holds Olympic and World records in the 200 meters times of 9.69 seconds. Bolt dominated the junior championships with a record in the 200 meters of 19.93 seconds. Notable awards of Bolt are:

He isnt that young for his sport. I mean if he doesnt do it now he never will because he'll be too old for it soon.

I am not sure how you compare the two, is a gold medal worth more than a major championship in golf.

Seriously though, I'd feel better about a round of Golf with Tiger than a race around the pool with Phelps. -
phelps has been dominating for what..4 or 5 years..in a sport that has a much shorter shelf life? tigers been an unbelievable champion, and made golf more mainstream than basketball and hockey combined. (imo)

Just to clarify, he doesn't own the 200 records.
I don't know if anyone has broken it, but I know a lot of us remember watching Michael Johnson blaze that 19.32 in Atlanta. :yes:
As for who's more dominant, I'd like to say Tiger because he's been the man for nearly a decade. But Phelps has dominant for almost as long, back into his teens. The thing is, there's not a whole lot of press for swimming outside of the Olympics. So we don't get to see it.

nah really i'd say they are equally dominant in their respective sports. it's hard to be better than "the best" -
It's a toss-up IMO but will go with Phelps because he is swimming so much in a short period. Plus he beats guys who only train in one discipline and he does several at WR levels

Swiming is more phyiscally demanding than Golf, plus he doesnt have many oppurtunities to excel in that sport.
I'll give Phelps a slight nod.
Of course, Phelps would never win all those golds if he swam with a torn ACL. -
