Yeah, I know, I haven’t been here near as long as all of you, and I don’t claim to be the know all on NFL football, but to see so many posters clamoring for “suck for luck”, saying they’ve given up already, they don’t like being a dolphins fan anymore…I just don’t get it.
Look, I know it’s frustrating…really I do. And it’s okay to be frustrated, especially when dealing with constant mediocrity, but to quit already when there really is no reason to this early in the season is silly imo…I mean to me, it seems like all the pieces are there, we just gotta get it all together.
Here is some perspective:
Yeah, we are starting 0-2, but you know who else this happened to right? I’m sure a lot of you don’t need a reminder, but the 2007 Giants and 2001 Patriots…we know what they ended up doing.
The 81’ Raiders, 98’ Broncos, 01’ Ravens, 06’ Steelers, 08’ Giants and the 11’ Packers all made it from the wildcard round. So to say “what’s the point of hoping for a wildcard round” is kinda moot.
Pretty much what I’m trying to say is, man, reading comments from some of our fan base on blogs, media websites, social media websites, and at times this forum, is somewhat depressing.
I’m sure some will be upset about my post, shouting “don’t tell me how to be a fan noob!!11!” or something similar…this wasn’t meant at all to be inflammatory; I just don’t know why so many fans are willing to throw in the towel. It seems like some are just forever depressed or something.
What’d Uncle Rico say in Napoleon Dynamite? Something like, “You know what Napoleon? If you don’t like it, you can leave.” It was something like that.

Does Sparano get whacked?!?
Just sayin', that particular track doesn't bode well for Tony... or does it?finyank13 likes this. -
Sure it's possible. But when you see everyone in our division is currently at 2-0, and we appear to be far and away the worst coached team in the division, the odds of a turn around are not good.
I would hope nobody is ready to toss in their fan card. I mean, most of us survived 1-15. But it's just so hard. This is a franchise that is just making every possible mistake and keeps making the same mistakes over and over again.
A new GM and new coach are needed, and it will be the most important / critical hire Steve Ross ever makes.DolfanJake and Aquafin like this. -

I haven't given up, but then, I'm ever an optimist, in real-life, and with the Dolphins, so take that with a grain of salt.
And I would contest, anyone who creates a "Suck for Luck" thread is still a true fan. While we may not agree that we should lose as much as possible to obtain Luck, at least their hearts are in the right place - they do ultimately want us to succeed! -
Its not that we lost to two good teams. Its how we lost, in embarrassing fashion. Regardless of what the score was yesterday, that game was embarrassing. Only thing that wasnt embarrassing was Brandon Marshall, Sean Smith and DT.

No need to try to reason with Dolphin fans.
The fanbase is loaded with whiny crybabies who prefer to ***** about us being bad than actually seeing anything good about the team.
They also love to place blame where it isn't.
Trying to talk them off the cliff is a waste of time.dolphindebby, unluckyluciano, Ohio Fanatic and 7 others like this. -

We were out coached. Every aspect of the game. On Defense once again we gave them the matchups they wanted. If our front line ressure had not shown up I do believe fans would have actually jumped instead of clinging to the edge. If I see Nolan Carroll on the field I am going to turn the channel to another game cause that means something bad happened to our defense. That alone is deppresing to me.
Offense? WTF. Thomas awesome! We now have A solid 1st and 2nd down rb along with a lights out 3rd down back. We have a solid WR corp a deep threat that takes a double team and a PI call. We got a QB playing at a higher level. Its O line and I believe there was way too much sparano in that game plan this weekend.
Last time I checked Sparano is an oline specialist. DUDE YOU SUCK!!! You cant even get your deptartment on course with the talent in place. Just hand in the whistle and I dont know maybe Parcells will get another gig and hire you to change hi underware. WTF I Mean WTF!!! Last week you could tell it was all Daboll. This week you could tell it went like this.
Tony: You know brian, if we run the ball more between the tackles I think we can keep the offense off the field and keep it close enough.
Brian: You know Tony, if you STFU maybe we can actually put enough points on the board and ground and pound in the fourth.
Tony: Im gonna call Bill. I will let you know tomorrow.....
All and all keep Carrol off the field, fix the oline and let Daboll run the offense and we can go toe to toe with anyone. Oh and get bush more touches either through special teams, 3rd down, or 2rb formations with him and Thomas.
One other thing. If you have to bring a 6th oline man out when you are on your own side of the field, in the words of chef Ramsey "Just Shut it Down and F - Off" -
Thing is, this Sunday, at 1 p.m., my brain will be full of "So this is how we'll make the playoffs" possibilities. I can't give up, no matter what.

Really? Because he dropped a touch down pass? The best WR in the league dropped a touchdown pass in the same game. He also caught passes and used his play making ability to gain extra yards, including running through defenders to get us our only touchdown of the game. Remember Hennes TD pass was well short of the endzone, it was the play maker that got the ball in there. Henne put Marshall in a good spot to make the play, but lets not lose sight of who really made the play.
Marshall cut short that route in the endzone, that was a miscommunication between both Henne and Marshall, the ball was completely uncatchable anyways. As was the next throw that some are wildly claiming Marshall gave up on which was totally false. Thinking Marshall was anything but very good is ridiculous. -
Marshall ruined his own chance to make two big plays yesterday that very likely could have cost us the game.
He is not the player people make him out to be at all.
When he becomes a game changer in Miami then I'll maybe see things a little different.
Big players (That's a stretch) need to make big plays at crucial times.
Marshall is not that player That is the crux. -

Our problems are fixable...can't score in the red zone, the secondary is weak and the O-Line is struggling. Do you have hope they can fix any of this now? I don't trust them.
We got Dallas Chokeboy trash Marc Colombo instead of going after Two Time All Pro and 5 Time Pro Bowler Brian Waters? Patriots signed Waters and he has been great for their O-Line. His 34 year old body is better than everyone on our O-Line except Pouncey and Long...though even Long hasn't been himself this season.
Also, Bush was brought in for his speed. Yet we threw Zero checkdown/screen passes to him yesterday. No Pitches either, the only time they ran him was up the middle? WHY?
They are stubborn, so I don't have much hope that anything will be fixed. -
I appreciate the optimistic tenor of the O.P., but 10 years of general mismangement is just wearing now. I really like Coach Sparano and Jeff Ireland and I have no stomach for starting over again with a new staff and Front Office, but it looks more inevitable with each passing week. And I will go on record now I am not in favor of Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden if it means giving them total control including personnel decisions. I don't like that scenario, I don't think it works.

It is amazing how fans get blinded by their favorite players.
Now it is okay for your hero to drop footballs.
Ridiculous. -
He dropped that TD pass granted, but what was the other play? -
Its not a question of not rooting for the Dolphins or wishing them to fail. Its more of an issue of feeling utter frustration and deep despair. In some cases it seems to make one speak from the anger and frustration and not from the heart. Some times its better to try and understand and just overlook it and hope for improvement to lesson the frustration, rather than pointing it out.

guys how is it that we all wanted Wanny and company hung when they had better results and they had a plan , while we all allow Sparano to make the same mistakes over and over and he doesn't have any good wins that Wanny had. of course we beat the packers and they won the superbowl but we won only one lousy home game last year and we havent won at home this year at least not yet.I am not giving up on Chad for he is a victim of bad coaching.the original poster has some good points , yet how many excuses and how many years are we going to settle for less when we should go for being the best ?here is my breakdown on when a coach should be fired. when a coach has been with you for 4 years and his record is worst in the three preceeding years and then when the head coach is suposed to be a offensive line guru and the oline gets worst then something is really wrong.we can not afford to let the jets and bills get ahead of us and the pats keep getting draft picks and they contribute . we pick offensive linemen with our first picks when they dont even touch the damn ball wont win you any games. the Jake Long was a good pick but the recent olineman was not a good pick so at some pint the miami dolphins must start wining and must start blowing teams out especaily the bad teams so this crap of losing to bad teams needs to stop getting a free pass.its one thing when our wide recivers get injured and our cornerback s get hurt but Miami has had the same ole oline problems for 5 years now and we only have one decent wr on the roster . and dont give me Bess and Hartline is good because if they were we would have more touchdowns and a better red zone offense.I dont think we whould give up but we need to stop making excuses when Buffalo and the jets have gotten better then us . I say we should keep henne but we need a good qb caoch , we deffinately need a new oline and dline coach and probally need a special teams coach change so I agree with the original poster on that point. but what are we really winning by losing most of our games while the better teams get the better picks and the better record at the same time I.E that pats. Rayvens, and other teams.if we are not going to the playoffs then I would rather have 1 4-12 season and then the next year we win 12 -4 :as opossed to going 7-9 8-8 and 7-9 for a five year period but this is my preference yet I am having mixed thoughts on this i hate losing yet I hate winning only 7 or 8 games .

Well, didn't intend for this to become a back and forth, inevitable though, I suppose.
All I’m saying, is that it’s wayyyyy to early to give up, and yes, a lot of our problems are fixable.
It’s week two and we played the Pats and Texans.
Look at the Patriots first four games of their 2003 season.
Week one blowout (31-0) by the Bills (who finished 6-10)
Week Four loss to Washington (who finished 5-11)
They fixed their issues and went to the super bowl.
I know Sparano isn’t Bellichick, but still.
All’s not lost people, and mistakes/shortcomings/missed opportunities can be corrected. -
Easy answer. Diminishing expectations. We still had the makings of a good team in house when Wanny started running this thing into the ground. Now we simply are interested in seeing something, anything that will show us improvement and make us believe again.

Its not even close to being over. We lost 2 games to the probable top seed in the playoffs..and maybe the #4 seed. Both two very quality opponents with very explosive offenses. Both the Jets and Bills would most likely be sitting at 0-2 if they faced the same quality of opponents.
We need to win the next two....and not be 1-5 after the Jets game....Fintastic likes this. -
If my constant negative comments about Sparano and Ireland offend some on here, sorry but I will continue to call for their firing until Ross finally does the right thing. As you stated, I didn't abandon the team when they went 1-15. In fact I showed up for every single home game that season. While I did not purchase season tickets for this season for the first time is forty years because of my dissatisfaction with Spanrano, Ireland , and Ross. Once Ross makes changes at the head coach and GM positions, I will happily purchase tickets for every game the Dolphins play at home.MonstBlitz likes this. -
Even if the Dolphins win their next 3 games, they'll be 3-2 - 0-2 at home, 3-0 on the road, same exact spot as last season at that time. And they had beaten the Super Bowl Champ Packers.
Big difference, I guess, would be an actual winning streak, which they haven't had since going 2-0 to start the year last season. Let's be real though...nothing about this team inspires any of that confidence that they will even get to 3-2, let alone follow that up with some more big wins. We'll see, but I'm not getting any confidence up, even if they beat the Browns and Chargers.
Hearing that Dansby is banged up and Vontae may be hurt makes it even worse. -

Well, I'm extremely positive, still, towards this season either way it plays out.
Look at it this way, if we finish say 9-7 and Henne has one of those 4k yd seasons with 20 pls TD's, we have a Qb and the team is finally "set", if we are bad and finish say 5-11, we should be firmly in the mix for one of the top Qb prospects along with a HC who has "his" guy.
There is plenty of talent on the roster as well.
For once, we are not completely screwed heading into a season, even at 0-2. -

We're the worst coached team in the league. That's why people are giving up. I know people on this board don't want to hear it, but this season has the same scent as our 1-15 season. Nobody actually believed we were that bad until the season ended and seen 1 notch in the win column.
