I don't get it..why did we play off the LOS with 2 physical corners,and smallish wide receivers? Can somebody make sense of this schematically I did not expect the dolphins to beat the Pats, just wanted them to show well, I knew that Brady and their continuity would be an advantage over our defense, but why wouldn't we want to play more man to man, predicting that it would be futile to drop in zones and try to match wits with a QB and offense that has been together for a decade.. Nolan..???
I don't know....IMO against the pats you need press coverage....knock receivers and TE's off their routes and disrupt timing. I don't feel like I seen much of that.
well lets move on, this week since the houston offense is so much a timing offense, they definately need to bump and chip more
As long as we double Andre Johnson we should be ok. Oh and put a lb up front in case they go 5 WR wide at the goal line, just in case Matt Schaub thinks about running it in himself again.
We were man to man on the 99 yd Td catch by Welker.... Also playing man vs the Pats and Brady would be a bad idea, the run to many plays to the middle of the field and the seams....Tom Brady can throw players open WAY too good to think we could man up against that team.
This is true, but u have a MUCH better chance to neutralize all that time playing zone rather than man. If ur not getting pressure your gonna get torched by Tom regardless. I expect a much better performance this week.
We did play a lot of man, just not a ton of press....for good reason, we couldn't apply any pressure. No pressure and press equals big plays. Example, Sapp pressed Welker, and we got no pressure while blitzing and Brady just put it over the top for 99 yards. If you cant get pressure, you can't press. Although we got shredded anyways.
To slow down NE u need to generate pressure while having extra players in coverage. Sounds difficult, is difficult hence their offense being so good. All that being said I think if we wouldnt have gotten "hurried" on defense we wouldve had time to get the strength of our team on the field (DL depth) and those guys fresh amy have generated some pressure without having to blitz multiple defenders exposing matchups. Our defense will be fine, im way more worried about our offense vs Wade Phillips tommorow.
Iam talking about press man at the LOS, we didn't do it, yet we have the corners with the skillsets that can, Take 2 men out of the offense whereever they go and work from there.I don't understand why we didn't want to be physical with them at the LOS when we have 2 physical corners, there was no press man to man in this game.
