http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1628637-why-dion-jordan-will-re-write-record-books-in-2013 "Jordan will have more rush opportunities from base and nickel sets, and however they use Jordan, the Dolphins must turn him loose as a pass-rusher. When Kearse entered the league, he was quickly dubbed "The Freak" because of his dynamic mix of height and speed. Standing 6'6" and possessing 4.60 speed, Jordan is a similarly dynamic force offensive tackles will struggle to handle. He is entering a powerful front seven that will take blocks away from him. He will also be coached by a coordinator who can concoct a variety of rush schemes to send him after quarterbacks. It's the perfect environment for Jordan to make a real run at breaking the NFL's rookie sack record." There is a lot more in the article which makes a compelling argument. I am becoming a bigger fan of the pick the more I look at it. I liked the pick before, now I am thinking there's a good chance of this kid becoming an absolute star player.
The author downplays the importance of Jordan's ability to do other things besides rush the passer, then quotes Ireland saying that he loved Jordan because of his flexibility.
It has less to do with Wake, and more to do with wanting to take advantage of Jordan's coverage ability. I really think he is the possible solution to the mismatch flex TE that has been changing offensive football.
With this kid talent and Wake across from..the sky is the limit.. Check out play at 1:56... When you have this kind of size and instinct for the football, the sky's the limit
Thing is, Manny Lawson was supposed to do that as well and never really turned the corner as a passrusher, Jordan can, that will be one of the differences b/t the two.
