I know alot of people are probably thinking, wow, we looked awful today.... rightfully so, we did at times. Especially considering we were playing a 2 and 6 team, depleted with injuries. However, keep in mind a mike holmgren coached football team, still has the potential of being a damn good team. And its the NFL, anyone can win (except the lions) on any given sunday.
With that being said, I think this was a huge win for this football team, and i think it was a great performance. Many of you may disagree, but hear me out...
It was huge for us today because they overcame adversity today in a way. We were favored to win for the first time in forever, then we got up 14-0 early. Then there was the pick 6 that really turned the game around. Miami then found themselves unable to stop seattle, and unable to move the ball themselves. Then it all ends with a huge, long offensive drive, and a huge defensive stand, on the 2 point conversion, then on seattles next drive. That goes to show you the improvement in this team. Whether its from coaching, or the new players in here, it doesn't matter. Because this team today learned to overcome their struggles, and put together a long drive, then make a big defensive stand not once, but twice.
To me, they learned how to win a close game today, and how to overcome themselves, their own poor execution and mistakes. That my friends, is what good football teams are able to do. This win will go a long ways to the future of this team.
You can even look at it as proof that this team is constantly improving. We lost the Houston game in close fashion, at the end... today, we held strong as a team and won the close game, when it mattered. Also, each win, continues to solidify this team. Its clearly evident that this team is all about putting in a TEAM effort each and every week, not an individual effort as some players, on some teams. Each win, brings them even closer together.
That, makes this a huge win for this team IMO... agree? disagree?

All I know is it's a good thing Seattle spotted us 14. It's troubling that we can't seem to fix our problems on special teams coverage.
But we did win, and any win for this team is HUGE! In short, I agree. -
Agree Brandon.
I think another thing the Dolphins learned is that Yeremiah Bell has learned from his mistakes. He could have gone for an interception on that play but batted it down. Bell was exceptional today, all over the place. I was impressed with Crowder's read and reacting skills today. He sniffed out a couple screens including one in which he read it, used a swim technique to get past Walter Jones and then drilled Julius Jones into the ground for a loss I believe. I watched the first couple drives and I thought we dominated up front, I figured it would continue but it seemed like Seattle stacked the box and made Pennington beat them. Or that's what I saw from the first half after Ricky's touchdown run, which by the way was a beautiful hole. Andy Alleman played today, started if I memory serves me right and he did ok I think. I saw him whiff on a block which would have gave us a first down. It was a third and one I think. Ricky got it going today but Ronnie didn't. I thought Ricky ran very hard and it showed in the first quarter when he went on an end around. On the end around, Fasano took on Julian Peterson I think it was and then sealed off a DB in the second level. Once Ricky went around the edge, a DB ran right into him and the DB fell with Ricky moving forward, gaining about an extra four yards. Finally, damn that holding on ST's!hugoguzman, brandon27 and dolfan94 like this. -
Our problem on defense now is one that my other Miami team, the Hurricanes, had early in their season.
Our blitz packages are horrible. You know who is coming before the play even happens, and if we see it don't think any somewhat smart QB doesn't also. We give the offense too much time to adjust pre-snap. Notice when we get a sack its on a great individual effort and never confusion by the offense.
We need to disguise the blitz better.padre31 likes this. -
we're over 500, so this is huge

It was a home win, too. And the start of what will hopefully be a 3 game at home winning streak to put us at 7-4 wouldn't that be sweet :D

Hey we won, were not all dominating in my opinion but they are finding ways to win. The d held up like they couldn't against houston, which is fantastic. The O killed the clock wiht that 9 min. drive in the 4th with a td to cap it off.
Yes it would be nice to crush a team like we were supposed to, but give credit to the hawks o line for opening up the running game, limiting mistakes ie turnovers and for only giving up 3 sacks, 2 which came near the end of the game.
We needed a win, we should have ran away with it and didn't. But this team showed some serious heart today, look out afc east, the phins are comming to the top. -
either way, this boosts the teams confidence that we can win in tight situations...and hopefully learning to prevent tight situations from even happening.

Personally, I felt the Ted Ginn Jr. TD that was called back was a bad omen.
1) Because it was so easy and we were expected to win
2) We became complacent and relaxed when we were up 14-0
That being said, if we were to make the playoffs, we would get bounced out really fast.
We simply cannot do many simple things that should be easy, like covering kickoffs....

If we were in the playoff we would be playing teams like New England, San Diego, possibly Buffalo. You're right we can't beat them....wait...

If I see the Tuna up here again, I'm going to hug him in public, prompting security to drag me away, beating me every other step. -
btw don't forget to mention that you, me and opie can make better tackles on ST's if he's looking for someone. :hi5: -
We didint choke when it mattered. We came through.
It wasn't pretty, it was pretty damn ugly..BUT.
The only thing a week from now the team and players will remember is that Offense and Defense came through when it mattered the most, and thats the bottom line.brandon27 likes this. -
I think it was a great win simply because every unit overcame their shortcomings, our "D" missed plays, our "O was out of sorts and our ST were poor in coverage.
But our D sealed the deal with the Bell swat of the 2pt conversion
Our O managed to put together a 9 minute drive
Our ST allowed Ginn to get out to the 35yd line at least.
This was a bad start by Chad Pennington, but we won, our RG position still stinks, but we made plays when we had to. -

I think our guys might of been a little lazy in practices this week and under estimated thier opponets. I think they a bit under prepaired for today and hopefully it was a good thing. We have a string of give me games coming so hopefully this squeaker will keep these guys focused and reminded that on any given sunday. As of right now the only two games that debatable for wins are the jets and the pats, but the rest all should be wins for us. We really should be able to sweep buffalo and if we sweep NE or split with jets that would be wonderfull. We are very still in the hunt for the division title as long as we keep pulling off wins and hopefully the rest of the divsion beats each other up good. Everyone in our division has easy schedules ahead with the exception of the pars having to play pittsburge yet.

In the end, the point I was making is that both where on trick plays.
Regardless, Pennington has shown the ability to throw deep.
It's his throws to the outside that worry me (a little too much sailing) -

every win is a big win for sure! also, everytime we play it gives the big wigs a chance to see what we're lacking and make the necessary adjustments, which it seems like they have been doing thus far. special teams has showed small improvements over the season so far, and you can only expect us to get better from here!
-
Couldn't be more excited about this season so far, but I am still waiting for a legit return td from Ginn. With all of the emphasis this offseason on special teams, this is the area that is really underperforming. Badly. An average unit could yield success for Ginn. I do know this though, if special teams can step up, this team could be dangerous.

You know, I was thinking about Penny's game...he really didn't have a good game, outside of that first quarter...His arm strength was tested and he failed miserably, IMO...he had several passes off his back foot that he just had nothing on. He missed on several throws and was really rattled by Seattle's pressure...He made it count when it had to late in the game, but I was pretty disappointed in the manner in which we are accustomed... -
