the guy is explosive.....hes been successful running reverses and ****.

why not bring him in motion instead of ricky? could be lethal....is it because ricky has better vision running between blockers? (shouldnt be the case given ginns successful kick returning past)

    what is the reason?

I think because Ricky is much more likely to get consistent yards in traffic.

Sure Ginn may break a long one where Ricky wouldn't, but I'm sure the coaches (as well as I) prefer the sure yards each time.

In terms of vision, RW is up there with the best of them. Not to mention, he runs thru traffic with authority.

Right now it's more of SmashCat goin on until their ready to open it up with more passing wrinkles. When and if they do start passing more, that's when I think you'll see more of Ginn out there. Once he starts being more of threat down field in the wildcat, it'll make it easier for him to sell a reverse.

Right now I'd say it would be easier to sell that play from the base offense than the wildcat, if you're gonna use it.

but why not in cobbs position......like last week when we faked a hand off and flipped it to cobbs for a reverse.....imagine if that was ginn?!?! also if pat white is in the game hes a great receiving option out of the pass

even when we do that end-a-round flip to pennington who throws it deep to cobbs....why not ginn? just would make sense to have your most explosive player on this formation.....imo

Isn't much of a blocker. I only saw him while Pate White was taking the snaps.

I'm wondering why we don't get more touches for Cobbs.

I agree he needs to be more involved in the 'Cat' there was all this talk of him throwing a few passes out of the formation.

Guess its a long season yet, but at 0-2 its time to pull out ALL the tricks and get a F---ng win!

He took direct snaps in the redzone at Ohio State sometimes. He ran it between the tackles for at least one TD that I remember off the top of my head.

EDIT: found it, 2:46 in this video.

I just think that Ginn is too limited in that offense right now to sell a play like that very well. And he's useless as a blocker.

That being said, I'm not opposed to using him on that play. But until we start passing in that package, I can't see him being a better fit than RW and Cobbs.

He needs to start concentrating on getting both hands on the ball first,
    No wait,he does that.
He needs to start catching the ball with both hands in the ENDZONE first....

Then when he does that,he can work on getting the ball UP the field instead of OB.I feel when he stops being scared and takes that next baby step we all been waiting for,The coaching staff might sneak him into a Wildcat play or two.

He had one long run against KC, and he fumbled the end around in the Ravens playoff game, this season he had one attempt for 3 yds or something similarly small.

That is why Ginn does not handle the ball in the WC..at least so far.

The Wildcat probably isn't really the formation for Ginn. It's a power running formation, and it's all about getting running game mismatches. They even pulled Pennington off the field vs. the Colts, in order to do so. Ginn's blocking isn't terrible, but Patrick Cobbs is better split out wide.

The Spread Option stuff when Pat White is really going to be where Ginn gets involved, and that's not really going to happen until White starts being involved.

    don't forget

no on respects him for his shorter route running

so the long ball becomes ineffective........because that's all he's got and the DB's just wait for him to take off

According to ESPN, he has 0 fumbles rushing, and has 3 fumbles on receptions (all in 2008).

I am pretty confident he has no more than 1 fumble rushing, and I am pretty sure he has never lost a fumble either.

sure he had some moments in college. But just to put the clip into perspective......how many of the opposing defenses players now play in the NFL.

It would be like lining Ricky up in a division 5 college back field and then trying to say ......look how good this guy is

now show me that consistently and I might change my mind

Last year Ginn didn't run that much but he did take two to the house if I can remember, one against KC and one against Oakland.....also the one against bmore I believe was ray ray making a good play and hitting Chad P before he could fully hand it off, not sure how it went down anymore, haven't watched that game in months lol.....

I've been wondering the same thing since last year. I'm not saying he should take Ricky's spot, but they should have him somewhere on the field for some of those plays because he has the ability, and has shown in the past, to make things happen. They need to start easing him in there though for the Wildcat. I know he was involved in some plays during camp.

Ted Ginn has never lost a fumble, so that stat is worthless IMO.

Which is true....but it's also unfortunate.

Regardless of who's the QB and how you use him. I just don't see Ginn ever being the scoring threat that you need your Number 1 WR to be.

I've never said Ginn didn't have talent, well maybe hinted at it jokingly on occasion...lol....he does do some things rather well and has improved. But he's still pretty raw as a receiver.

If you take away the missed TD opportunities and just focused on how he looked trying to make those plays, his attempts just weren't very impressive.

With Ginn I think it will always be a case of him being "explosive", but just not often enough.

Would like to find someone that was more of a scoring threat, to fill the role you described

WHAT? Ten or eleven catches in their last game tells YOU that they're "phasing him out?"

It's stuff like this that makes the Ginn haters seem extremely ridiculous.

He may not be elite, but he is our number one. People are going to have to seriously rethink their position on Ginn when he has a QB with a good arm throwing him the ball.

The long ball is ineffective because our QB CAN'T THROW IT. Blaming Ginn for the lack of a long ball is ridiculous. Also, when you have Ginn and Bess/Camarillo on the field, are you really going to have Bess/Camarillo running the deep routes? Ginn runs those routes because Bess/Cam aren't even remoty a deep threat. That's one reason why last year Bess/Cam were getting more balls...they were running the routes that Pennington likes.

His route running looked nice and crisp last Monday... He was explosive in his cuts. I was happily surprised.

Anyone who watched the Ravens game knows the fumble wasn't his fault. Pennington didn't know where Ginn was handed the ball off loopy. Otherwise it was a TD, the Ravens were way out of position.

are you forgetting his 40 yard run against the Raiders?

    1-10-OAK 40 (7:04) 19-T.Ginn left end for 40 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

0 lost fumbles. quit trying to find ways to make him look bad. denying that Ginn is a threat on the end around is denying reality. if you want to live in a pretend world, then go ahead.
