Dude...almost every positive thing about Tannehill from coaches has been disregarded by some posters on here as coach speak. Honestly, I'm not saying that it is coach speak...I thought it was stupid for people to say that about Tannehill compliments. At the same time, of course the coaches are going to publicly support Moore. Only an idiot wouldn't. LOL

anyways I'm predicting a loss here because we aren't gonna be able to run the ball and they are which means less pressure on their qb to make plays with his arm from the pocket and more pressure on ours to do so

which also means we are gonna have a hard time limiting the qb exposure...the scoreboard will dictate just how much

this team has the look of something special so I can't rule it out but we need some off the script things to go our way...

all motion based coverage id's with no check outs at the los plays into defenses once they get to see your tendencies on tape...gase has done a good job to show different formations and personnel looks but if we aren't gonna check out we are gonna run plays into the teeth of defenses

we'll see...all my eggs would be in buffalo this week

Again, we're not talking about some generic statement about support here. As for other posters and their comments regarding coach comments about Tanny - take it up with them.

And you wonder why I question your support when you're constantly turning everything in an MM8 thread back into conversation about Tanny. LOL

maybe we throw some unbalanced fronts at them out of 12 personnel...that way they at least have to play it pretty honest...and with dvp in that 12 group you have a real threat they must account for when singled up...he runs a good square in a good quick slant a good post...anything where he comes out of a cut he fires out of a cannon

time to get dvp more involved

stay away from 5 man protects where moore is asked to make correct pre to post snap reads vs zone...as much as possible...only way I go into that mode is if the scoreboard means I have to...that's how you limit the matt moore exposure...avoid must pass situations...run draws and delays as long as the scoreboard allows you to when behind the sticks to get easy cheap yardage...

Yeah, I'm REALLY trying to make this about Tannehill.

Try to comprehend why one would compare you quoting Christensen in regards to Moore with how people received quotes from Gase in regards to Tannehill.

It's a thread about believing in Matt Moore so naturally I posted comments by Clyde Christensen giving defined reasons NOT GENERIC COACH SPEAK why you should.

But please ...... continue on about Tannehill.

The Bills are in the bottom 5 league-wide for stopping the run. Across this win streak, we've been a run-first team that limits what our QB is asked to do...that applies to Moore and Tannehill alike. So would you mind explaining why we won't be able to run the ball against a team that hasn't stopped the run all season? Likewise, how does that take pressure off Tyrod?

I mean, it's great you know some NFL terminology...it makes you sound smart and all. But when it comes to making actual points you're just throwing out general ideas with zero basis behind them.

Using just those rankings is a bit of a misnomer though. Rams are middle of the road against the run and we didn't run all over them. Pittsburgh is top 10 and Ajayi had 200+. Cleveland is 31st against the run...Drake had 37 yards as our top rusher. SF is the WORST rushing defense in the league...Ajayi had 45 yards.

    And we're missing Pouncey.

And if you'd read it again, you may notice where he said the Bills "will" be able to run the ball, and that would take pressure off Tyrod.

They were fine running the ball against the rams. 19 carries for 98 yards. Tannehill was just awful that game 34 attempts 170 yards and a pick

Just lathering at the mouth to get in another Tannehill dig ain't ya?

98 yards, as a team, is right about average, and less than the Rams allow per-game...hence the "they didn't run all over them" statement.

Oh...and 2 clutch drives with two TDs...you so conveniently left out. This is why you're seen as nothing but a troll.

I will just give a couple examples of differences with moore relative to tannehill for why i think miami will find it hard to run going forward before i get out of here

For starters miams run game of late with tanny had been heavy zone read with built in bubbles...ie run pass options based on the box count...the opposition had to account for the qb keep ie legs...they dont anymore which is why gase vs the jets for instance had no real zone read and bubble calls...they arent called bubbles anyways they are box read run pass options...some slip screens have been called but the zone read work bubble throws are run pass box counts pre snap...

2nd when miami was having success running the ball under thill under center for instance he was making checks at the los and shifting the run call from one side of the field to the other...where does this come from? Pre set no motion checks which under tanny we used...under moore it last week and likely going forward was adam gase calls it matt moore runs it and the real key is the all motion based coverage ids...once he starts motion he cant stop it and check out thats an illegal shift

3rd no pouncey who was murder in space and at the 2nd level in the run game and a left guard who lacks strength due to injury has really marginalized miamis run game as has a pivot in urbik or steen who dont get to much in space...they need more of the inside zone not so much space play but reach and combo work in tight spaces...

Also under moore gase has tried to give him as much time at the los pre snap to verify protections etc...how do you do that? By not asking him to audible or check at the los

Now miami could try some unbalanced sets to run out of or an extra ot even and get a boost but i doubt its sustainable over the long haul...we need with this current o line crop more inside zone less off tackle and wide work...of late all ajayis yards have come from contact he runs thru

So its a combination of things...limitations in o line personnel space play, no threat of the qb legs in the run game, and a play caller who to date isnt letting moore make changes at the los

Right. But when other QBs do it...

I mean, people were crowing about Moore's "GWD" in the Cardinals game, ignoring the two score lead that Tannehill had worked to give him.

He had 2, yes, and was able to come back in bad weather against a good defense and put his team way up...they call that a resilient performance. Fans of their teams usually appreciate that.

And I never "completed," or even complimented him for giving them the lead...that was somebody else.

The ridiculous thing is, it doesn't even matter to the initial point, that being, Moore struggled to get anything going, until finally getting a drive, after almost letting the game go to the Cardinals. But the usual people credit him with a GWD.

I used the numbers against Buffalo...not sure how that doesn't equate well against Buffalo again. They haven't stopped the run all year.

To Hoops point, Tannehill ran an average of less than 2 plays PER GAME this season. Just because Gase calls 10 read option plays per game doesn't mean opponents fear Tannehill's legs- they just haven't been a factor since he chooses not to run...even when the end crashes down and the right play would be a QB keeper. That has nothing to do with this conversation or Matt Moore since he also ran twice last week.

But that wasn't my question anyway- you said that we would not be able to run against 27th ranked Buffalo. In your answer, you didn't even consider the opponent a factor....meaning the Dolphins can't run on anyone with Moore on the field. And I call BS sir.

Ya but that was kinda to be expected...dude hadn't had a game snap in a LONG time. No doubt he'd have a little rust showing. Gase had to adjust too.

Ya...and we've went up against the BOTTOM 2 rush defenses and didn't get jack...that's the point. Two teams who haven't stopped the run all year even worse than the Jills...held us well under average. Both our average AND league average. We don't have our #1 impact for getting ground yards in Pouncey.

Edit: Additionally, we haven't been able to get much on the ground lately because teams are following the Niners and stacking the box on us, so the QBs are having to make up for it. And to this point, they pretty much have (both RT and MM had good games against that front).

However, Buffalo's secondary is MUCH better than the Niners and the Jets. So it will be tougher, naturally.

Oh, absolutely. But it's just ridiculous to credit Moore for a GWD, while trying to completely dismiss Tannehill's play in a monsoon, which had Miami with a 2 score lead going into the 4th.

There you are with tunnel vision on the number of carries by the qb...completely whiffing on what effect the threat of tannys legs has on the defense

Anyways maybe you are right about buffalos run d...i havent watched of late that team...but i do know marcel dareus is playing this time unlike last and he and kyle williams have wrecked us in the past

Plus ajayi can make people miss and break tackles but thats more about the back than the o line

We really need more than anything for our d to step up and allow us to play a run heavy game and work off pa

To be fair, he's not yet finished above 14 I think in passer rating. Now, if he played like he did the last 8 games or so, the entire year, yeah. But he has to do that, and not just have the potential to do that. If he does, than he enters the upper echelon next year. For now, most would consider him 4th best just from 2012 (Luck, Wilson, Cousins in no particular order).

From the Oakland game and on, in 2014, counting 8 games, he had a 102 rating, 70.5% completion percentage, 6% TD ratio, 7.38 ypa, and 2.2 INT. So this year was actually almost identical, stats wise.

69% completion, 5.57% TD, 2.14% INT, 7.39 ypa. 100 rating. You can argue it was worse, but it's pretty much identical.

His YPA was higher overall for the year, but at the beginning when he wasn't playing "well" his YPA was really high. Towards the last 8 games, when he played much better, his ypa dropped. He had 3 games with a ypa in the 5s. So his YPA on average was dropping as the season went on.

So we have sort of seen this production before. I will say, I'm more impressed by 2016 Tanny with my eyes, than 2014. The reason I expect an upswing is because I think Gase is awesome. But Tanny's produced under Philbin and Lazor. That's something to keep in mind of 17, in '17.

Right. And it's like several of us said in 2014, he's good enough to win with, with even an average line. And he's doing it in a brand new offense...again. And with better coaching and other improvements, they've squeezed out a few more wins...even after the "everything is new" learning curve.
