The dude sounds jealous. I love that indirect shout out to us. :D
I don't agree with that at all. He acts like it's the same old couple of running plays that we run from the Wildcat. It's constantly changing and there many plays, passing and running that we run. When he says that we spend time working on it instead of running a normal play is pretty stupid. The benefit is the opposing D has to spend time in practice preparing for it. For us, it's just one of our normal offensive plays that we practice in our normal routine, so it's not that we are wasting time practicing gimmick plays, it's one of our base packages that's part of our normal practice routine.
I freakin' love it! Look what we've done around the league with this thing. This is another higher-up from another team admitting that they have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to stop it, while hopefully neglecting the main parts of their game that they have to work on. I love that it was our staff who had the ingenuity and vision and more importantly, the "Juevos" to try it. :D
:D
Wooo! I can't wait!;)

What has zorn done? another year like last and he will be out of a job. id try everything i could, not let ego get in the way. the wildcat is sick and i love that wrinkle in our offense. hypes up the players and gave this offense an identity it hasnt had in years

I agree with sceeto. I think he's got his panties in a bunch because Sparano had a better rookie HC campaign than he did. In addition they gave us their 2nd rd draft pick for a player that was largely ineffective last year as well as overpaid. Yeah I would say he's got his nose out of joint. No one is talking about his 8-8 season. -
Having a guy like Randle-El back there is just another trick play IMO. It's a running formation with the threat of pass... not the other way around.Jimi likes this. -
Last I checked, Zorn wasn't exactly embraced by his players. Maybe adding something that will make the best of the players you have in Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley and Santana Moss may be a way to help them at least tolerate you as a coach. That way they know you're trying to win.
-
He was the first player in Division 1 history to score 40 passing TDs and score 40 more rushing TDs.
He finished his career at IU with over 7,000 passing yards and over 3800 rushing yards.
Randle-El, again would be perfect for the wildcat formation because he's a true threat to pass or run. -
Silly Zorn.
-
Also whilst Zorn might be right about needing both I wasn't venturing an opinion as to whether he was right about whether the 'skins had the personnel to run the wildcat. -
If you're a good coach then you can teach and motivate after that its Xs and Os. -
-
No not really.
The games that I've watched where Brown "put his nose down and smashed into a 300# DT" were plays where he got at most a yard - is that what you believe the wildcat is predicated on? Getting a yard or two from the line of scrimmage? The OL is expected to block out the DTs.
It obviously works with Ronnie Brown. However, it can work with Randle-El. It can work with Pat White or Tim Tebow. It can work with any player who is a threat to run or pass as long as the shift is made from the base formation. -
-
What made Ronnie great at times in that package was his ability to break tackles. Im not saying Antwaan wouldn't be a nice piece to the formation, but I highly doubt he's as effective taking snaps as Brown.SICK likes this. -
thats ludacrous to think he could hit the hole and get out of the grips of persuing linebackers and d-lineman.....its not happeningHardKoreXXX likes this.
