The police investigation involving Dolphins cornerback Will Allen is ongoing, according to a Davie Police Department spokesman and is expected to continue for about another month.
Davie PIO Lt. William Coyne said the May 16 dispute between Allen and an unidentified man is over money, but wouldn't corroborate a television report that a gambling debt or gun was involved. "Whether it's an investment or loan or not, I'm not sure," Coyne said.
NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said, "We are following developments."
No charges were filed and no arrests were made.
If charges are subsequently filed against Allen involving a gun and there is a plea agreement or a guilty verdict, the seven-year veteran could be subject to discipline under the NFL Conduct Policy.
Allen, 29, was third on the team in tackles with 62 in 2007. He had one interception, 14 passes defended and was the most consistent cover corner.
