So it's the end of week 7 and Oakland is the final team in this NFL without a win. I'm thinking they're locked into the #1 spot in the draft and could possibly be the second team to go 0-16 1) Division Schedule Schedule. Oakland is playing in the toughest division in the AFC this year. Philip Rivers is playing out of his mind and his Chargers are 5-2 and are in the driver's seat for a Wildcard Berth. Not to be outdone, Andy Reid's Chiefs took them at home. And then of course there is Peyton Manning. Oakland's best chance for a win may come at the expense of a division rival rife with injuries. 2) vs other Division schedule. Oakland plays the NFC West as well as the AFC east this year. They are already 0-3 versus the latter, with only Buffalo to play. At the start of the season If someone told you Cardinals would be sitting at 5-1 with the Seahwaks occupying the basement you would have been justified to laugh in the face. Yet here we are. 3) Placement Schedule - the final 2 games on the docket are versus the other 4th place teams of the AFC , the Texans and the Browns. Oakland already lost versus the former and they place the Browns this week. Browns just lost to the Jaguars so it'd be fitting if they lost to the Raiders as well. Cleveland lost their center and are starting a McQuistan at guard, but does Oakland have the personnel to exploit the match-up? Now I don't think that Oakland is the worst team in the league, I think that title belongs to the Buccaneers. Unfortunately Oakland doesn't play them (or the Stealers for that matter).
I wouldn't be surprised. Oakland, Tampa, and the Jaguars are by far the three worst teams. Carr looks like he may be the real deal so based on that alone I think they will win at least one game. The Jags may be the best of the terrible teams. They at least play defense but Bortles has been very careless with the ball at times. Lucjily for them, they have a victory out of the way. Tampa is just hot trash. How they won a game..idk.
Sparano at least gets his players to play for him, so I think they could get a win easily. They were close against NE so why not?
And SD. Sparano is what they need right now as odd as that sounds. Pound the ball, play defense, and just let Carr be Carr.
I still think they win two games, regardless, I don't think they draft a quarterback. Carr has shown his potential, and the ceiling is very high. He's got game and his arm talent has impressed me more than Bortles. Harbaugh will draft talent to compliment Carr once he takes over the Raiders.
Hmm there is some talent but not enough to be a good team. If its not the talent, its definitely the coaching. They have been on the wrobg end of some college football scores.
Tampa is just a mess right now. They have more Talent than Oakland, but their offense is fubar with Tedford's health issues and McCown's complete failure.
and the march continues. Did anyone catch the fake field goal? http://giant.gfycat.com/BlondGenuineHamadryad.gif.
Never thought I'd see the day a Sparano-led team, fake a field goal. Times are changing. Brave new world.
They need to secure the #1 overall pick to lure Gruden back. I think with Carr on board and the top pick he would go back to the team if they gave him control. He's been rumored to want that job above any other NFL job.
If they get the first pick overall they will look to trade down with some team that wants Jameis Winston, and grab Cooper/White/Gurley with the 3rd/4th pick in the draft.
I think Oakland trades down, then takes Amari Cooper or Kevin White. Their WR group is worse than the 2012 Dolphins
They are in a good position for the draft. There could be a couple of teams willing to make a big trade for a Qb. I think Oakland could be an attractive spot for a coach.
and the 08 Detroit Lions pop open the champagne. Oakland caught KC looking ahead to Denver and paid the price.
Gotta say though, that celebration by the Raiders that almost costed them a huge penalty+free play, made me laugh my ***. I never seen that happen in professional sports. Carr is a keeper, Sparano isn't though. They needa go after Harbaugh but if Harbaugh makes another deep playoff push, it will be hard for the 49ers to justify getting rid of him.
