I need this to register for classes on my girls computer. But it requires windows media player and I can't find a Mac capable windows media player.

Try downloading VLC Player if you can. It should play wmv files back.
-
Can you use VLC instead?

Edit: Looks like I was too slow. -
I tried that one. The school website still says its incapable without WMP

I am trying to figure out why a school would require WMP to register for classes... it makes no sense to me. Any idea what they need it for? Or it just won't activate the class registration program without it?
-
You have to go through "orientation" prior to adding classes. And apparently it uses WMP only. It's dumb as hell.

Looks like you enrolled in an institution of higher trolling.

Install Flip4Mac. It adds Windows Media Player compatibility to OS X.
-
Do you download a file for it or do you have to stream it?
-
Not me. I'm to cool for that school crap. It's for my GF. She couldn't figure it out and thought I could. I don't know anything about Macs and nothing about windows 7 or 8 for that matter.
-
I did actually. But their website is still telling her she has something missing in her system. And it's WMP.
-
If she just needs to register, use a Winbox to do it, then use the login from the Mac.
WMP is basically a tracking device and suspect they want to monitor what she is viewing for the class to see how effective their learning program is at getting students to watch the vids. -
Honestly it doesn't even let me get to that point. Website just tells me I'm incapable of moving forward basically.

I'd call the school instead of wasting your time troubleshooting. I doubt this is their first encounter of this so they probably know a workaround.
