What type of laptop do you have? Do you have a WIFI switch that you may have switched of OFF?

sounds like you need some one who knows what they are doing.
sounds like you use a wired connection. probably because you dont have a wireless router. you need one piece to output wireless SIGNALS, not singles, and a computer capable of picking them up and using them.
from your post, i gather you dont have the setup for it, and dont understand how it works. you need some one who knows what they are doing to physically be there and see what you already and what else you need for a wireless network. -
calm down dude... my wireless router is hooked up. I know how to set up a router and on a computer, i just cant figure out why my computer wont pick up my router. i think i may be a driver, but i can't figure it out...i scanned for out of date ones, it saying all of them are up to date.

My first thought here is that your wireless network is set to mask itself, that is, it's not broadcasting its SSID (network name) publicly. A quick trip into the wireless router's configuration via a wired connection can check and correct that. -

Find the serial number and/or make and model of your notebook, head to your manufacturer's site, and find their support/downloads page. They should have a way for you to look up your computer via serial or make/model and find drivers or updates. Since you're worried about a driver, this is the best way to make sure you've got one installed: find it and install it manually. -

I have encountered countless issues with the HP Wireless Assistant. It is true crapware. Desides is on the money.
