Cam Cameron — Miami Dolphins: He lost all but one game and that was after he decided not to be the head coach for Miami in the team's final preseason game. Remember that beauty, saying he wanted to evaluate his other coaches? His troubles have been widely reported here so there's no reason to dig it up again. But let's just say he and the locker room won't be having any koombaya moments soon.

It speaks volumes that we are listed there. That is how horrible our regime was last season.

It only speaks of foxsports lack of attention span. Cam did no different than JJ. Only JJ got a chance Cam didn't.

Cowboys were already pretty much in the toilet when J.J took over. From 10-6 in 1985 to 7-9 in 1986, 7-8 in 1987, and 3-13 in 1988.

Gansz has got to be up there. Chiefs finally made the playoffs in 1986 (after 15 years) with John Mackovic and Lamar Hunt promptly fired him and replaced him with the special teams coach, whom the players loved.

Gansz stunk it up for two years before Chiefs got smart and replaced him with Schottenheimer.

I was thinking the same with Kotite. Though Ray Rhodes was just an awful coach.

Theres a night and day difference with Cam and JJ, JJ was a very successful headcoach in college so he got some leeway, Cam was awful in College as a HC and got none. Theres no comparing the two, Cam deservedly got fired. He was a awful HC who lost this team completely by the 3rd or 4th game. Bill Parcells knows coaching talent and he sent this guy packing, the only reason he even humored the guy is because they have a mutual friend in Bob Knight.

He and Kotite, and anyone remember the joke that was Lou Holtz with the Jets in 1976 ? He was laughed out of his locker room.

You're right, as I'm sure after 0-4 Dallas fans weren't calling for JJ's head like Dolfans were doing for Cam.

One year with an injury plagued team that was crap to begin with when healthy does not a bad coach make. Cam is not here anymore because he is not in BP circle of friends. What has Sparano done that Cam hasn't? What has Garret done that Cam hasn't?

TBH, I blame Wayne for some of these problems. He's great with money and getting out of the way, but the slightest hint of discontent by the fans and he panics. He brought in Cam to undo what Saban did, then runs and hires Bill Parcells to fire Cam. He can't even do that himself.

If anything that is why I'm glad Parcells is here, to keep Wayne from pulling this crap again. Just give Tuna the blank check and let him do the work. AFAIK, Tuna owns the Fins

Its not so much what Sparano or Garrett have done but what they haven't done. They haven't been disasters in college and the pros and they haven't lost the respect of players in the NFL. Cams a good offensive mind and a good OC but he's not a headcoach. I'm glad we didn't wait 4 years to find out he's not the right guy, he was obviously in over his head and lost, he needed to go.

Then we would be in the same boat as this year. With the only difference being another wasted year for all of us. Cameron could have stayed another 5 years and I firmly believe we would not have been showing vast improvement from the previous year. This is beating a dead horse but the right decision was made letting him go. Cameron was NOT HC material and the players knew it. Fortunately,Parcells knew it also.

Why don't some of the people who love to bring up Jimmy Johnson also mention a few of the several coaches who started off poorly and didn't turn out to be good. I guess since Miami fired him that definitely means Cam Cameron would have been the next Jimmy Johnson.

The differences are that JJ was a good coach and didn't lose the respect of his entire team. Cam is a good offensive coordinator, but a lousy head coach. Another year at head coach would have resulted in another disastrous year with no signs of things getting better.

When evaluating Cam's performance as a HEAD COACH you have to look at all aspects of how the team performed when he was here. The offense got alot better but every other area of the team went to ****. His clock management skills were horrendous and the fact that the whole team pretty much bailed on him tells you something. Rod Marinelli went 3-13 in his first season but none of his players bailed on out on him. Another thing as well if you look at Randy Mueller's draft record he's made some good picks but he's also made some ****ty ones. For every Walter Jone's like pick he had he also picked guys like Sedrick Hodge in the 2nd round. I'm not saying every parcells pick is going to be a superstar but he made some good one's in Dallas. Terrence Nueman, Demarcus Ware, Marcus Spears are all great to decent players.

What made Jimmy a good coach if the RESULTS were the same? You telling me he was a nice guy too? :D

If you look at what each had to work with, one could arguably conclude that Cam did a better coaching job!

Don't get me wrong now, Cam may very well have been the worst coach in the history of coaches, I just don't think anyone can find that out after year one of a 3-5 year process.

The point is that we'll never KNOW! The JJ example shows that 1-15 doesn't mean you are the worst coach ever.

JJ also had a history of winning. Cam does not. If we brought in...say a Pete Carroll, last season I'm sure he would have got a second year. Cam has basically proved nothing as a head coach.....ever.

Jimmy Johnson actually had a good track record as a HC; Cam Cameron had a terrible track record as a HC.

    Ummmm...no

Following the Cowboys as a kid, the '07 Dolphins definitely had more to work with than the '89 Cowboys. Cameron got out coached practically every single game.....

No one can say with any certainty that Cam could not get things moving in the right direction if he did a complete house cleaning going from year 1 and year 2. He lost respect of many of the players and yes that will get a lot of coaches fired. But, if a coach cleans house and brings in his troops that can lead to success in year 3, 4...

But it was not meant to be as Tuna will get HIS guy to come in due a rebuilding job in little time as possible. Wayne H's patience has worn thin - he knows the Fins need to win soon as enough is enough. Why did Wayne H get the Tuna? Because Parcells builds teams relative quickly (Pats in year 2, Jets 9-7 after 1-15, Giants in playoffs 84 SB winners two years later after 3-12-1 in 83).

Wayne preferred to hire a strong VP / GM and let him to do the rebuilding and not give Cam a chance. Mule ran out of chips a while ago. Until we have indisputable proof to believe otherwise - TRUST THE TUNA.

If there is a truth to anyting this season is that Cameron is not a good head coach. He is a great person and great mind but not a great head coach. Wanny was a better head coach for us in here even though we went through losses during his last 2 years. Now that I see it, he is not as bad as we thought he was.

The difference is that Jimmy brought in players like Aikman, Moose Johnstone, Stepnoski, Wiesnewski, Tolbert and co. to build on. I can't really look at any of the guys Cam & Randy brought in at this point (with the exception of Samson Satele and maybe Lorenzo Booker) and say, "This guy is going to be a player".
