Wallace nor Austin is our answer in the redzone. The area we struggled most. It sounds like a lot of fun Wallace Austin two speedy guys making big plays everywhere across the field but lets be real for a moment all that speed is rendered useless when theres only 2 yards of grass to cover. Hopkins is Hakeem Nicks 2.0. He has the best hands in the draft class and is known for being physical. 18 tds last season in which most were just flung up and ripped down by him.

I know that there is a politics forum on this site, so I will merely mention that I am never in favor of the government giving money to ventures like this. You want a new stadium? build it yourself. Having said that, I will take Austin with a big smile on my face. Please take Austin with the 12th.

 

It really doesn't matter who the Dolphins draft in the first round. The reality is that the vast majority of the voters in Miami-Dade County are NOT Miami Dolphin fans and therefore they will NOT vote for any new tax to help fund renovations to the stadium.

For those of us who are fans of the Dolphins, we will vote for the taxes because we understand that it is the visitors to the county who will pay for these taxes and the stadium does need minor renovations. Unfortunately we are outnumbered 3-1 by those voters who will vote against this referendum. I just don't see this vote going in favor of the stadium renovations, Austin or no Austin.

The Dolphins will win this referendum if the shady politicians cut a deal with the team and display support on local radio and TV.

 

I answered NO, but I'd vote for the referendum either way. I personally don't think Austin is worth #12, despite his offensive prowess at the collegiate level and have other options in mind for that pick, but the stadium is a completely different animal and should be treated as such...

As to the referendum, I'd vote YES.... S. Fl. needs that influx of monies that improvements to the stadium would bring. We need those improvements, we need the Super Bowls and college bowl games and even the soccer events it would bring...

 

To go along with Joe Robbie, who built the stadium without public funds...but that's another story...

Seriously, I know that SFL folks were burned by the Marlins stadium and it's issues, but this is a horse of a different color and should be treated that way by the voters in making their decisions....

Its an upgrade for your city, from a world perspective..world events, charm, culture.

If you build it, they will come, if you don't, you lose, the city loses, the franchise loses, and most importantly the players lose, their the ones that have to play in the antiseptic neutral field, then we all lose, because, chances increase of losing football games because of a 0 home field advantage affect the stadium provides..

 

Im no economics major, but the super bowl appearing in your city consistently HAS to have a positive effect on tourism/business, and Goodell has said the super bowl will stop appearing in Miami if the the stadium isn't upgraded.

I would even suggest using #12 pick anywhere else then trading back up to snag him in the later first round. Dude is a End zone monster the area we lacked most last season as far as WR. We have yet to solve that. His Hands are the Best in this draft class. His Physical play and bball background make him a redzone specialist. Look at his highlight reel most of his big play were a result of Superior Hands and Going up and ripping the ball down. 18 tds last season. Hopkins = Hakeem Nicks 2.0 To pair a guy whose game is a spitting image of hakeem nicks for years to come with Wallace is what i want to see. Tavon Austin and his speed will be rendered useless in the redzone where there is little room to cover. Plus his size is a durability issue waiting to happen.

If we dont get Hopkins Pats will then will all get to watch it. they were working him out privately the other day.

I agree, Dolphin fans will turn out to support the renovations. Unfortunately many voters who are upset with the Marlins, will turn out to vote against any taxes going to another sports team. It should also be noted that the vast majority of the season ticket holders live in Broward and Palm Beach County. They do not live in Miami Dade County. Since these season ticket holders have no vote in the matter, this will hurt the chances of the vote going in the favor of the Dolphins.

The reality is that I would be far more surprised with this referendum getting voter approval than I will be if the vote is over 70% against the referendum.
