    No.

I would offer him the Job of Team President.

So he can have a vote in picking the next GM/Coach.

John Elway as Broncos VP of Football shockingly has worked out pretty well, but I'm not sure Marino is qualified and he turned down a job he'd be more qualified for years ago.

Considering he lasted less then a month, the first time he had a FO spot... I'd say no.

Marino was a great NFL QB, but I have no interest in seeing him as the GM of the Dolphins. I just don't think he is qualified for the job. Of course I don't think Ireland is really qualified either, so Ross should spend the money needed to attract a highly qualified GM candidate to take over this position with the Dolphins.

He seems more qualified than a ball boy from the Bears and below average kicker in my opinion.

I love Danny, but I was a bit put off when he stepped down so quickly the last time he had a FO position (forget the exact title). Just seemed to me like the idea of putting in the time and effort was more than he was willing to commit to. Either that, or something happened internally that we'll never know about. No, I think he's best suited for what he does. He seems to enjoy it too. Guessing the money is probably better as well.

Personally, i say who is qualified really? just because you played football? as far as im concerned they could go to McDonald and hire the first voice they hear in the drive through to replace Ireland. Dude is garbage in my opinion him and filbin should both buy one way tickets to Canada and work in the CFL

When Marino was hired..he made one single player evaluation......at quarterback.

It was his opinion that Philip Rivers was better than Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.

Make of that what you will.

Danny was the best QB imo but no interest in seeing him as a GM. Not even a little bit. Has no background in evaluating college players, has never scouted college players wouldnt know how to project or slot them on a draft board etc. If he has spent a few years in the front office scouting and working on the personnel side maybe Id see it differently.

Omar Khan (Pittsburgh - Director Football Administration), Marc Ross (NYG - VP player evaluation), Russ Ball (GB - VP player admin/finance) are some of teh names who are better suited and who we looked at last time around. Ball would be my choice if we planned to keep Philbin....

    Based on what?

Playing ability =/= being a gm.

To all who whine about the people that try to stop the extreme negativity....this is why we do it.

I don't think he's interested in us though. He knows the treadmill we got going here. When Elway stepped in the Broncos there was talent everywhere on that team, elite talent. His change? Tebow for Peyton. And now he's a genius. Oh and he added Welker, which is easy to do once you have Peyton and coming off 13-3.

Are you refuting that someone went from ball boy and "below average kicker" to being a GM? Sounds like a Made for TV movie...

You sly dog, you! You're sticking with the facts and implying that that this person previously served as an executive for the Cowboys, a scout for the Chiefs, and an assistant coach for the Mean Green. He was a kicker in college for Baylor, and it was only as a child that he was a ball boy for the Bears.

Damn you, Mr. Refuting Negative Hyperbole!!! :shifty:

I had a man crush on Rivers as well. Now that he's away from Norv Turner, he's looking like a star again.

Like a lot of athletes, I think Marino misses being part of the action. That's what got him in the front office in 2004. When he realized the time commitment required (and the circus he'd joined), he bailed.

I don't think anything has changed. I think he's just itching again. And the circus is still in town.

To his credit, Marino lasted longer than Joel Collier, who bailed on the OC job after two days and demoted himself back to running backs coach.

    Ahh the Wanny era.

Rivers absolutely has been a better pure passer than those guys. He was let down by poor coaching and untimely injuries. They played NE pretty tough in that AFC Championship game when he had a knee injury.

Considering many thought Rivers was a 2nd rounder prior to the Senior Bowl/Combine it seems Danny was pretty astute

I think Marino would want to come here but they probably would only want him as a figurehead type position, I'm sure he would actually want a say in who we draft or sign and thats unlikely. Honestly he can't be any worse than Ireland so its not the worst idea I've heard.

I wouldn't want him there.....maybe as owner or part owner, but in a player operational capacity? No. Because if he does bad we would all criticize him and one of life's rules is "YOU CAN NEVER CRITICIZE DAN EFFING MARINO"......

Plus he makes, I am assuming, great money with less hassle doing what he is doing right now....

Then Wannstedt told Marc Trestman he was now the offensive coordinator. That night, Tony Wise led a cadre of other assistants in a full-on revolt, saying that they would quit if Trestman were elevated to the position. The next morning, Wannstedt informed Trestman he was not to be offensive coordinator after all.

He elevated Chris Foerster instead. The guy who was caught with porn on his work computer when he coached for the Bucs.

    Funny story...

At that time I had some REALLY good sources within the Dolphins org..and I actually knew some players as well (which is to say that I drank alcohol and looked at naked women dancing with football players).

I was always a big fan of Trestman, and I remember telling Hank Goldberg at a remote at Shula's Steak II..."hey..it seems that these guys will finally get this right.... we can build something with Trestman down here... He will insist upon a LEGITIMATE QB"

Hank then dead panned to me (He is close friends with Trestman)..."I hope so....but I doubt it. Marc Trestman is a smart guy, and wouldn't get involved with these clowns."

    Well..he was half right.

BTW..Hank and Mandich (rest his soul) were the guys that soured me on Wanny. They painted him in private as a drooling idiot.

I see we've reached the stage of people wanting a new head coach already. Sigh.

As for replacing Ireland, I'm all for it, but certainly not with Dan the Man. But I would definitely love for him to have some other job with us.

And Rivers was my favorite QB from that draft as well.
