When what you want to do isn't working, you have to do something that does, whether you want to do it or not. Sherman could not grasp that simple concept, and he lost his job because of his stubbornness.
I'm pretty sure you're right, but that's not what I meant, bringing him aboard as the OC is still adding an excellent QB coach to the staff...just because QB coach won't be his official title doesn't mean he can't help Tannehill take his game to another level.
all true, but none bigger than constricting a mobile Qb who is lethal on the run, to a stationary pocket with a sieve for an oline.
For those saying the Panthers changed Offensive Coordinator and the next year went to the playoffs, that's true but they scored 9 more points this season (total, not per game) and had less yardage. However, they also hired a new General Manager who signed/drafted several key defensive players who have been part of a defense much stronger than the previous season. That's in addition to him navigating through an inherited salary cap and making what seems to have been good moves so far. Not trying to suggest anything of course.
Stop. Are you saying that it's possible to change a GM who identifies the teams needs and adresses them properly, keep the same coach in place and turn a franchise around? BRILLIANT!
A big part of their turnaround is also Rivera changing. They were 1-3 and Rivera had the best odds of being the first coach fired. He obviously took it to heart and knew he had to do something to save his job. We'll see if the light comes on for Philbin.
