Yes...you read that right. Guy parked his car, left a note, hopped over a fence and jumped off a bridge. His body was pulled out of the water, dead. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/08/tony-scott-death.html His credits are vast and impressive: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001716/ I guess, we should remember him by posting our favorite works of his.. I'll go first.....True Romance, Man on Fire , Crimson Tide,
Sh**, and I've been waiting on a sequel to True Romance for years. It's a shame when someone feels there's nothing left in life to enjoy.
Huge fan of Man on Fire. I read somewhere that maybe he had a terminal illness and he decided to take his own life instead. Could be the case Edit: Looks like he had brain cancer
Good selection Section.. 1) True Romance 2) Man on Fire SPOILER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of my favorite scenes of all time (this may be offensive to some) :
The Fan was vintage Tony Scott, and The Last Boyscout was pretty fun. Very interested to see if the motivation behind this is revealed from the suicide note (I suppose that's up to the family).
Sad and tragic. I love and look forward to Tony Scott films. Scott, Michael Mann, and Nolan are my all time favorites. Their styles overlap often. True Romance is an all time favorite. Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, and Enemy of the State have been mentioned. If you love that True Romance scene, you should listen to the Tarantino DVD commentary on it. The scene is genius, and Tarantino rightfully credits all 4 men, Walken, Hopper, Scott and himself for it. I watched it when Hopper died, will watch it again tonight. Rest in Peace Tony.
oh yeah, i remember True Romance... anyway... apparently he didn't have inoperable brain cancer. man... what a way to go eh?
True Romance is a classic violent movie, imo. Crimson Tide was really good too. Coincidentally, the ION channel has been showing 'The Fan' a lot the past couple of weeks. I remember when he was filming 'Days of Thunder' here in Daytona Beach, it was a huge deal. On a side note, I've noticed that he used the same composer for most of his films, Hans Zimmer. Thanks for sharing your talents, Mr Scott, R.I.P.
rumor is that someone (a passer by) has the video and is trying to sell it to the highest bidder! Family is not happy about this if true.
