Spoiler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgndmyItrg0 just in case its taken down. Has Deadpool's head laying on the ground w/ his hand going towards it and says "Shhhh". Kind of cheesy but maybe they'll use it for the spin off
Thats not the one at my showing. Spoiler The one I saw had Wolverine at a Japanese bar drinking shots and the bartender says you drinking to forget. Wolverine says No I'm drinking to remember. EDIT: Remember to use spoiler tags. You know, like the one you just quoted. Muck
I won't get into this too much. I really wanted to like this movie. I'm a huge Wolverine fan, I even have Mrs. VO convinced to name our first born (provided he's a boy) Logan. I've avoided reading anything about this film, including reviews. I was the first person in line at the theater tonight. I was hoping for the X2 Mansion scene - you know what I'm talking about - for an entire movie. I didn't get that though. Wolverine in the comics comes across as a badass. This film felt like I was watching the emo version of Wolverine. I get that they want to keep the character a good guy, but he's a hell of a lot darker in the comics. I loved the opening sequence, and thought it was a promising start. But this film just fell flat for me. The entire third act was laborious and painful to sit through. All of the biggest and baddest action sequences have already been shown on television already. The ending was stupid and completely beyond the realm of logic. Let me just say that I hated what they did to Deadpool, though after reading about the multiple endings there's a little bit of hope I guess. I'll happily expound on my thoughts a bit more ... maybe I'm being unduly harsh on it because of my built in expectations - but this feels a lot closer to X-Men 3 than X-2.
I was thoroughly entertained. My ending during credits.... Spoiler Was Stryker, still walking bewildered. Bunch of military with guns stop him on a residential type street. He confirms who he is and they say "you're wanted for questioning in the murder of general" I forget his name". Not sure if there was more. They turned it off.
I tend to agree with most of what you have written here. I think in an effort to make a movie for kids and adults some of what makes Wolverine such a compelling character gets lost. He's not a nice guy or a hero like Captain America. He's a killer with a lot of conflict thats what makes him interesting. I've never liked having him related to Sabretooth and really I think he was more interesting when I had no idea where he came from in the comics. Having no memories, constantly fighting himself, I've been a fan of the character for ages and I think they've really diluted him over the years in an effort to give him more mass appeal. I thought the movie was good, I enjoyed most of it but its not the Wolverine character I grew up with and its not the one I'd have liked to have seen on film. They were never going to have the sack to make the movie rated R and as dark as it should have been, thats too bad for me I guess but I do think the movie will appeal to most of the audience that goes to see it and thats all good. Hugh Jackman is great as Wolverine, I guess all things considered its a good movie and a good take on the character I think I"m just jaded by the newer comics and Xmen3, I liked the older stuff better.
And not having more Ryan Reynolds in the movie is reason enough to give this movie a terrible rating.
that's pretty much how i have felt by the entire X-Men franchise. that said, i will still see it most likely. disappointed to read that Deadpool and Gambit are bit players at most.
The real problem is that Fox would rather make a financially successful movie that waters down it's characters, than a movie that's more true to the comics but would be more violent/edgy and might not make as much money. Deadpool will never translate well in a Fox movie. It's the same thing that happened with Wolverine.
I saw this a week or two ago, the CGI wasn't finished and there were still written cues for the design team on the frames, but I thought it was decent. The action scenes were pretty damn good, but the story was too light IMO, not dark enough for my tastes.
My exact reaction when I saw it. The 10 minutes he is in it and just about everything the guy says is hilarious and thats it he's done. Terrible job not have included him in the story more.
I'm kind of glad they didn't make this movie about Deadpool, I'm not really understanding that part of the criticism, he wasn't supposed to be a big part of Wolverine's origin. Really he has a much larger role than I would have expected to be honest.
Fox and Seed are in development on a sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which topped the domestic box office over the weekend. The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, which they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased after the film's final credits. A writer has yet to be hired. Seed will produce http://www.superherohype.com/news/x-mennews.php?id=8304
i thought the movie was pretty good. I have no idea if they butchered DeadPool since i had no clue who he was before. Seems like an awesome character though
Here's the characters that SHOULD be in the movie I know they all arent but just a FYI. http://www.comicvine.com/weapon-x/65-5018/
Same here. I was an X-Men fan, and like any kid I loved Wolverine, I remember when the comic came out, it was a fantastic story, full of drama, romance and tragedy. I gotta go get the graphic novel one of these days.
