According to Jason Leiser of the PBP, Howard was vomiting all Monday morning, got two IVs in to combat the flu bug he battled all weak.

Then he went out and blanked Brandin Cooks and intercepted two passes.

No wonder he ran out of guess on the second INT return.

Was thinking the same thing. That interception return looked odd, like in slow motion. Makes his performance even more incredible.

I was semi-joking when I said this in the game thread, but now I mean it.

Xavien Howard for the Pro Bowl.

Holy you know what! That's absolutely incredible....I was wondering why he slowed down on the 2nd pick and ran out of bounds. I figured he was tired but darn, he was playing superhero!

Pouncey has played every game so far, he has taken notice. also, whatever the offseason program was, paid of. kudos.
Parker cannot play with any discomfort. Could be the reason he doesn't fight on the field, he doesn't want to get hurt.

How do these athletes get these supercolds? I've never in my life thrown up from a flu. But, it seems each year I watch a couple games where a bunch of players get colds so badly. Hope he's ok we need him!

Good for Howard! And I hope every new england player shook his hand after the game, then forgot to wash their hands before eating.

Last time you had the flu, were you outside, running as hard as you can, tackling people, again and again? No? Me Neither. :)

Tremendous performance by Xavien given the circumstances. As long as the defense is physical and aggressive with Buffalo, and Gase is attacking on offense with another great offensive gameplan this game is a win. If we go back to zone defense and screen bubbles then all playoff hopes are done.

More proof that we have the crapiest medical team in the history of sports. Don't anyone ask for facts on that. See last year and the absolute septic tank of a plan on Tannehill's knee.

Not trying to be a jerk, but a player getting a flu and receiving an IV is proof that we have the crappiest medical team in the history of sports? Really? And while the decision on RT's knee did not work out well for sure, Medical people not associated with the team also gave him advice , which he followed. Unfortunate, but hardly indicting on the medical staff. Septic tank of a plan is a bit of hyperbole.

I think Tannehill was the only athlete I can recall that passed on surgery

Possibly, but that decision was not made without consulting medical experts. Can't spin it. Took a chance and it did not work

Yeah it is a pain in the rear to have the flu indeed. But hope he gets better.

He was told that the path he chose would be effective without surgery. You are trying to make it sound like he put his head in the sand and hoped it would get better. Medical experts....not me and you. Sucks it did not work. I probably would have opted for the surgery route. But I am not killing anyone for making an INTELLIGENT INFORMED DECISION. Hindsight is 20/20

Curious do we have the same medical staff that passed on Brees?

Probably the worst decision we have ever made as a Franchise. I would hope we moved on from them. But Saban and co. did not flip a coin. Had information and had to make a decision...a horribly wrong one. One that changed our franchise.

He did have 4 blockers, so although he may have been gassed, he also may have just been smart enough to use those blockers. Too bad they didn't all connect on blocks or they may have gotten more yardage. But I'm not complaining; I'd take that play as it was anytime, especially on MNF vs. those dirt bags.

there are athletes who didn't get surgery for an ACL. John Elway is one. The list has been posted several times.
