Impending free agent S Yeremiah Bell indicated following Sunday's playoff loss that he hopes to re-sign with Miami in the offseason.
An enforcer, Bell led the Fins in tackles and chipped in 11 pass breakups while playing on a one-year deal in 2008. "It would be very difficult for me to walk away from this," he said. "I really couldn’t dream of going anywhere."
Great to know he wants to stay here in Miami. Hopfully they get him done soon so that he can retire a Dolphin.

Smart move on Miamis part by letting Channing and Bell linger in limbo. Even if they hit the market, Miami can likely resgin them for less than another would have to offer. Also, it casts doubt on whether they are to remain starters in this defense. It will make them work harder. I think they are both locks to resign. If we can ever get a FS with allpro talent, Bell will become even more of a monster. For the love of budda, why cant Ed Reed be a UFA!!!!?

gotta lock him. Bell is imo a solid starter or a great backup. We can't afford to lose those kind of pieces of our puzzle right now.

The Ravens had us beat talent-wise at numerous positions.funkdat and BrazForPhins like this. -
The downgrade I'd give to him is his age. He's turning 31 next march. If locked up he will probably start for us a couple more seasons and then backup someone younger. -
We've got to start thinking he'll be too old in a few years at very least.
If he didn't have butterfinger hands he'd be even better. -
We need a good CB if Goodman doesn't come back, an ILB and OLB, a NT... On offense we could use an OT to replace Carey, and another WR, possibly. If we can bring in a stud FS, that'd be wise as well.
Having Bell as our strong safety will let us focus on other positions for two or three more years... -
Give him whatever he wants. We need to draft some top flight CB's, but we need to keep our best player in the secondary in a long time....FOR A LONG TIME.
-
We need to get this deal done, he deserves it, then go after a playmaker FS to compliment him.
-
Like I just mentioned in the Draft forum. We very easily could draft Taylor Mays and be set for years to come at the safety positions.
-
I would be willing to go 4 with an option for 5. He is just hitting his stride right now and we know that S is a position where there is tons of longevity.
-
Sure it is....If he is available we draft him. Very easy. If he is not there we then look at the best available CB, which will probably be Macho Harris. We then take him. Easily done. I am not in the war room so it is very easy for me to draft him.
FWIW...I am not a draft guru like others claim to be. However, I am very rarely wrong when it comes to what position we are taking with the pick. -
tough call on him. probably 3 year deal, at the most.

Safety seems to be one of those spots where you have guys that play forever. Look at Rodney Harrison, the guy is what, 37? Still played at a high level till his knee got blown out.
I wouldnt be against giving bell a 3-4 year deal with an option for 5.
Team him with a ballhawking centerfield FS as some are saying and thats a nasty combo.
Id also like to keep Crowder. Some people are down on him, but our D really did suffer without him in the middle. Get another stud in there to help him out and he will be a good player for us imo. He can be a solid blitzer and gets alot of tackles. These 2 should definately be coming back. -
Looks like the 4 year deal was the right move.
