"There were a few surprises when the Miami Dolphins trimmed their roster from 80 players down to 53 on Saturday, Aug. 3, but as Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald points out in his latest article, most of the cuts were to be expected. After all, not many had a lot of faith players such as wide receivers Patrick Carter(notes), Julius Pruitt(notes), or even Phillip Livas(notes) (who scored a touchdown on a punt return in Miami's 28-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in their first preseason contest) were likely to make the squad."
