Are you paying attention to what is happening right now? Obviously the Bengals and Cardinals ownership were bad at one time. But they both have learned from their past mistakes and have been able to put much better teams on the field in recent years. Irsay might be a total jerk in his personnel life, but his football team has consistently been in the playoffs over the last decade. We aren't discussing personal behavior or what happened years ago with these other franchises. We are discussing what is happening right now and right now, Ross is probably the most clueless owner in the NFL. This doesn't make him a bad guy outside of football. He just isn't an effective NFL owner and the teams sub 500 record and zero playoff appearances during his 7 years as the teams majority owner clearly proves this. There are several bad owners in the NFL. I just think Ross is presently at the top of this bad owners list.
So why fix anything else? According to your hypothesis, if we get a better QB he can win with all the other issues....right?
Why wish for a coaching change when it's already a given? If you want to fix the defense, then fix the heart of it for Christmas sake. To borrow a pre draft phrase from Mr Clean: Putting one of the top flight LBs behind Suh and Phillips, "would be like watching football porn".
there will also be a lot of serviceable linemen that do not get drafted or who we could draft in the later rounds. all I know is we got to get rid of the LB's we got. they are terrible. With the LB's goes the defense and next years season IMO
I was a little too young when Shula took over for Wilson, but it's obvious the change Shula brought to the Dolphins. The coaching staff HAS to be the obvious change that must be addressed and that has the most impact on a team's success or failure... Shula, Knox, Noll, Madden, Levy, Walsh, Belichik, Cowher, Harbaugh...all examples of how the coaching staff, not the individual players made the impact of turning mediocre teams into perennial contenders. IF we can get one of "these" coaches, EVERYTHING will fall into place!
'Learned from their mistakes' = variance. They just got lucky. There is no mysticism here. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Base defenses are basically nickel these days. Gimme an edge rusher, a corner who can play outside, better defensive tackle depth and another safety. All more important than LB right now.
Our owner has the steady vision of the cookie monster. Our head coaching carousel is like choosing from the Malt-o-meal section in the cereal aisle. Our offensive line is just that...offensive. and, once again, the only player that truly gets developed is our punter. This team is like the internet, it drains my battery and hurts my eyes if I look at it too long.
