I've said it before....THill is a great athlete playing QB. Some athletes have worked out in the past, but none have won anything significant. I would prefer a good QB instead of a great athlete.
I will never understand people who always say "there are other holes on our team". Just like Tannehill, you people have no balls. You're afraid of change, you're afraid of taking a chance at becoming great. You keep riding that treadmill because it's safe. No balls, queasy fans here. Dont want to replace Misi because there are other holes on the team... Misi is average at best, every top defense in the NFL has a better MLB than Misi. Dont want to replace Tannehill, even though it is clear he is not viewed as a leader nor a captain, he lacks killer instinct, he has no fire, no passion. Does not have the mental part of the game down and is afraid to take chances on his playmakers. He's a young copy of Philbin. Its time to stop making safe decisions, stop trying to patch up this one area, or that one area. It is time to address the key areas of this franchise. Coach Quarterback MLB Time and time again Belichick has players come in his team to be contributors. Where was Malcom drafted? A nobody from West Alabama? Where was Edelman drafted? It doesnt matter, they come in and are expected to win. They have two things going for them, Brady and excellent coaching, everything else settles in. all they have done is win because those two pieces are in place. The Patriots have the least experienced offensive line in the NFL right now, and they seem to block just fine. Why? Because coaching matters, because they have a leader at quarterback that barks at them when they miss an assignment, holds them accountable. If we dont have leadership at quarterback and head coach, we got nothing. All you will have is 8-8, every. single. year.
So you call throwing an interception when Denver took the lead 32-28 that then led to Denver putting the game away "did everything possible" On the flip side, Tannehill gets credit with a Win, 4th quarter comeback and GWD against the Eagles last week when he had very little to do with it. 1st play in 4th quarter he bounces a pass off the defender's helmet which was not a wise choice to throw the ball and it gets misdirected to Landry for a TD. Tannehill did nothing to put the game away and the defense carried the day. So over the long haul it balances out and the Wins and Losses are clear indication of a QBs leadership or lack there of. All the sniffling that goes on about Tannehill not getting defensive help, yet "3", 4th quarter comebacks Tannehill is credited with the winning points were on a safety (Wake), punt return for TD (Landry) and blocked punt for safety (Fede). I have not seen any other QB credited with "three" 4th quarter comebacks when the winning points are scored by the defense or ST. So all the whining is for not.
I'm not so sure of that. It's likely got something to do with it, but if, as a QB, you need your QB coach, or OC to tell you to try and make something happen if nothing is there, then maybe we have a bigger problem. They should be encouraging it. I get it, the offense is meant to be run from the pocket, throwing to spots, predetermined before the snap for the most part. That's clearly not working. It's not always going to work. So at that point, **** the offense. **** the pocket. Make something happen, the ball is in your hands. I admire his courage to stand in there and wait for it to hopefully work the way it's scripted in the playbook, but it's not always going to work, so make something happen. He's been in the league long enough that he should have the presence of mind to at least do that. Maybe it needs more encouraging. Maybe the coaches need to force him more into that habit. Maybe they're preventing him from thinking that. We won't ever know, but common sense and the will to win should prevail here at some point here and he's got to just act, make a play. I get it, there's times where the pocket has been nothing around him instantly, and he can't make something happen. I'm not talking about those plays. He's not always ever going to overcome the terrible OL we trot out every day, especially Dallas Thomas. There's times though where it can happen, and he's not doing it for whatever reason. It's not good enough. Is that me saying he's a terrible QB. No. Not at all. Maybe he does need some more mind moulding by some more qualified people. Were not going to find out this year with this staff, that's for sure. As I said in another thread. Performance wise, the arrow that was trending up at the start of this season, has leveled off, and may be even declining. However, IMO, the potential arrow, is still pointing up. It may not be straight up like it once was, but it's still upwards IMO. There's issues to fix. Those issues mainly appear to be mental. Someone has to crack that nut, whether its the coaches, or Ryan.
did people skip watching the GB and detriot game last year? 2 wins we could of had, if we had any sort of defense.
Your just hanging on to that "QB stat" like a pit bull, but I never said it was a QB stat, I said the QB was by far the most influential in W/Ls, because he has the ball more than twice as much as the nearest player, and on this team, it's a lot more than that even, he usually has the ball 4 or 5 times as much as the next player, and by virtue of the position QB, it's his JOB to guide the team offensively on the field. You have not refuted what I've said, you just change the parameters, and it definitely wasn't logic, facts or reason, you are the one challenging conventional wisdom and yet you are asking for everyone else to prove something when the burden of proof IS ON YOU. So why don't you go ahead and get something outside your own propaganda to back up your non existent argument, some study, or expert opinion that even remotely backs up your truly ridiculous claims. Of course that will be quite difficult since it flies in the face of logic, reason and facts, because you ignore logic, reason and facts to fit your own agenda. We will all be waiting for you to produce something to back up your agenda... and waiting... and waiting...
Quote for me right now where I said the QB is not influential in terms of wins and losses. Don't respond unless you have the quote or you're willing to admit you don't understand the conversation.
By far the most influential, go on say it, you know you want to, it will be such a release, you've been tugging on the end of that rope so long, you're tired, so go on, just say it, it will be cathartic, you'll feel sooo much better, here, I'll say it with you so you won't be afraid; the Qb is by far the most influential player in W/Ls
You should check your post history the past two years if you really want to read stupid posts. Many of us are done trying to educate you. You are hopeless.
So what? That still doesn't mean W/L is a QB stat. You can't count a win or a loss unless you illustrate it was the QB's fault. What is wrong with you people? You are trying to argue with me over something I NEVER IMPLIED NOR STATED. Read my sig. This is not goddamned rocket science.
Stop being ridiculous. For the Miami Dolphins the most influential players over the past decade have been Brandon Fields and Matt Darr.
You stop being ridiculous and quote where me or anyone else defending Tannehill have ever said the QB is not the most influential person on the team in terms of wins and losses. Do it right now, or piss off.
I have never once argued otherwise. Jesus Christ. You guys are effing ridiculous. The engine is the most important part of your car working. That doesn't mean every time your car isn't drivable its because the problem is the engine. I've said this same goddamned thing a 100 effing times.
Relax dude. I'm going to send a care package to Ocala with some edibles and a bong.. You could use a little breather with all your animosity and anger concerning Tannehill. It doesn't really matter what anyone says, he is here for the foreseeable future. Stop taking this so seriously, I'm starting to worry about you. Use the gentle words below to calm yourself before replying.
If brady demanded a trade to the dolphins, your post becomes relevant. If Belichick says he wants to be Miami's HC, your post becomes relevant. They do not. Abd there aren't any other qbs or coaches out there like them that want to come here. The patriots have the best qb/coach duo in the league. You can't look at them and say "SEE, look how EASY it is". There's 31 other teams who wish they had that, not just us. You all want to drop tannehill? That's great. Just remember that it's very possible the next guy is worse and not better.
I don't have anger or animosity regarding Tannehill. My annoying bucket is full thanks to you guys never paying any effing attention to the argument and constantly misstating it. The fact that its annoying is does not say anything negative about me, it does however show every last one of you in intellectually unflattering light. I can only imagine what you'd be doing if 1 poster was doing to you what at least 10 are doing to me in here. I encourage each of to take some classes in critical thinking, paying attention and logic.
The Dolphins are averaging a little over 20 points a game this season. In two of those games, the Titans and the Texans the Dolphins averaged over 40 points. In the remaining 8 games the offense has average slightly over 15 points a game. Unless you have a great defense, you just aren't going to win many games in the NFL with that little production from an offense. While the OL certainly has its problem, the receiving corp and the running backs are as good as any group in the NFL. I think if you took this entire offensive unit and traded it for the Patriots offensive unit, except for the QB position, the Dolphins offense in New England with Brady as the QB would be one of the top scoring offenses in the NFL. With Tannehill as the QB of the Patriots offense, I think they would probably average about what the Dolphins offense is averaging at this time and Gronk would be just another TE in the NFL. While Tannehill can occasionally make a great throw like he did to Stills yesterday. He basically is an inconsistent NFL QB who has zero awareness in the pocket. He is what he is and after 58 games as a starter in the NFL, he clearly is what hs record says he is. A very mediocre QB who will never be able to have success without a great defense and an above average OL. Even with those things, Tannehill will probably never be good enough to get this team beyond the first round of the playoffs.
So then, you admit that your argument is based on semantics, it's a positive step in the right direction, good for you Fin D!
I keep seeing people quoted, talking about QB being the most influential. That is true. The ONLY person I've seen actually take a stab at giving an actual number to it, is cbrad, and he pegged that percent, if I'm not mistaken, at around 10-20%. That would still leave 80% of the game to be influenced by other players. All you saying that QB is the most influential, what percentage of the game do you believe the QB to be responsible for? From reading posts, I would imagine that you think the QB is responsible for 70% or more of the outcome of the game.
The thing that stands out to me is that none of this matters. This board is not going to influence a change at QB no matter how much they post. But it's fun to read!
Its not based on semantics at all. There is a gulf of a difference between saying W/L record is not a QB stat and QB are the most important players. Read the engine analogy again. Read my sig again. Read my 100's of posts on it. I cannot explain it you any differently than those.
Well Allen Robinson is better than anyone we got. Landry is a good kid but Robinson should have been the choice there
The problem here is your logic fails, any time someone brings up the fact that Tanne is not a winning QB, you say "W/L is not a QB stat!!!", but at the same time you're trying to play at admitting that QB is by far the most influential in W/Ls, therefor, what the heck are you arguing about?
Jesus christ. Read this: The engine is the most important part of your car working. That doesn't mean every time your car isn't drivable its because the problem is the engine. I've said this same goddamned thing a 100 effing times.
Serious question. Why do you keep engaging them? They don't listen. They can't read. They keep resorting to personal attacks. I know it's your nature, but if people kept twisting my words and kept insisting that I said things I never said, I'd just laugh and walk away.
Will power. You have literally said the same things over and over and over again about Ryan Tannehill. They can't seem to grasp it. I'm not sure why, because I truly think some of them are decent posters. They just don't agree and can't seem to understand the opposite view. Once I engage in a debate, and I see that the same things are being said, I just walk away and agree to disagree. I know nothing I say will change their minds. My personal opinion is that this topic has turned poisonous. I'm actually surprised a mod hasn't stepped in because there are personal attacks being thrown all over the place consistently. It's tempting to want to continue to prove your point and defend yourself, but they can't grasp it. That's on them.
I wonder if Tannehill supporters believe he can be elite with a better team around him or do they believe he is mediocre like the rest of us?
Another good option would be to use humor. A little trolling. Memes and gifs are always a good bet. As an example, next time someone twists your words and calls Tannehill a loser, reply with this: Quick, effective, and to the point.
Well, I think he's currently mediocre, but he can certainly be better than that. He HAS been better than that at times. I don't think he'll ever be elite, few are, but he can certainly be a Joe Flacco/Matt Ryan type with some improvement both with him and with the team/coaching around him.
Speaking of common sense, where in that post did I say anything about being elite? Your answer didn't have a thing to do with my question. Typical.
