I am going to play GM again, and because I can't stop the run for 2 1/2 seasons, I go after DT Brandon Williams. Miami's inability to stop the run lead to other issues on this team. Will be about $40M, $20M or so guaranteed. A lot of money with Suh, but this problem has to be solved, otherwise almost 4 seasons of a bad run defense is insane

Ive wanted Calias Campbell since he end of the season. A lot of people around here didn't seem to care for that idea until the "right guy" in Club suggested it. Now its a hot topic. Taking credit for that one!
After that I'm going Kevin Zeitler or Ron Leary.
Getting Campbell for a slight hometown discount would still allow us to sign likely Leary and still retain Stills....assuming he doesn't get ridiculous $$$ thrown at him.Ohio Fanatic, Rickysabeast and dolphin25 like this. -
Depending on how high his demands are, I think resigning Kenny Stills needs to be #1.
As far as other teams free agents, unfortunately, there aren't likely to be many good linebackers available, which I consider to be our number one need. Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower are likely to be tagged if they don't resign before the UFA period starts. John Simon could be a good player to take a look at, and Melvin Ingram could be a very productive OLB/ pas rusher for us.
At guard, there are a number of guys on the list right now who would be a great move for us. Chance Warmack, Ron Leary, Kevin Zeitler, and Larry Warford could all step in and be the best guard that we've had in ages.
At DE Calias Campbell would be an upgrade, but he's 30 years old and will be expensive. We already have a lot of age on the DL. Andre Branch could be good to bring back, but he's likely looking for more than he's worth. -
Outside of our own players, I'm strongly considering Lawrence Timmons if I'm the front office. Multiple reports out of Pittsburgh stating that they are comfortable letting him walk.
I think a young duo of Kiko Alonso and Zach Cunningham on the outside, with a veteran hammer in Lawrence Timmons in the middle would solve a lot of our defensive woes. -

1a) Melvin Ingram
1b) Kevin Zeitler -
I think based on the fact that we need about 2-3 starters on the OL, 2-3 starters at LB, 2-3 in the DL and a couple corners, we have to be serious spenders in FA, however, not top notch value, but better players

Eric Berry is a true HOF caliber player and acquiring him would afford us the opportunity to move Quddus to slot corner greatly bolstering our secondary in run support and improving our coverage.

I think our number one target should be zeitler on the oline, followed by Campbell on the di line and zack brown at middle linebacker. Plus we should resign stills and branch, cut albert and move tunsil to LT. Then we should draft Cunningham ham #1 and get another quality edge de in the second round and were are good to go.

Calais Campbell (after resigning Stills)

It should probably be Jason Pierre-Paul. He's probably too expensive, but he's probably is the best player available at a position of need who is an unambiguous scheme fit.
I don't think Calais Campbell is really going to come at much of a discount at this point, and Melvin Ingram can't do everything you want a DE to do in this defense which makes paying him big money problematic.ckparrothead likes this. -
It's got to be Calais Campbell or Jason Pierre-Paul.
There's some belief (and I'm looking at the Spotrac Market Value function as primary evidence of it) that Calais Campbell will have to accept a cheaper deal than his elite play level would call for because he's been in the league so long and is 30 years old.
If that's the case then he's got to be top priority.
But if it's not the case you could kind of flip a coin between he and Jason Pierre-Paul as to which would be the more meaningful acquisition for this team, with Nick Fairley coming in just behind them.dolphin25 likes this. -

In addition to the tackling issues, Cunningham also tends to line up further away from the LOS. This makes it easier for him to run around blockers. So he gets a ton of tackles but they tend to be after the back gains a few yards. This isn't the tactic Miami would want their MLB using. They probably want a bigger guy who is going to take on blockers at the LOS. That was one of the issues Miami had last year with Kiko playing MLB. When he guessed right he'd get his TFL, but when he didn't he'd get washed out and we'd get gashed. I'm a big Kiko fan, but I'm not sure that adding another guy with the same style helps Miami as much as adding a true MLB. Personally, I think Cunningham is a very good player, but I'm not sure he improves our defense as much as a true MLB like Davis or even a strong edge setter like Anderson (who might be more of a SSLB than a MLB).

What about LB Reuben Foster in the draft? What is the knock on him? He is big and packs a punch at LB, does look a bit slow but he seems to always be putting a lick on somebody.
