Give me a G-3 anytime. Middle pickup is amazing..... Bass....Love the Ripper! The Grabber too... Gibson all day.... Fender is okay but boring...... Anyone hate active pickups..... I'm a passive guy!
I've always had a thing for the Gibson SG. And I absolutely can't stand AC/DC. I like Fender Mustangs, too. Uhm. Let me think a bit. Edit: Strat. SRV, Hendrix, Clapton. Rickenbacker. Beatles. Gibson Les Paul.. I like the look of the Dot but it's heavy as hell.. as is the Les Paul which is why I won't own one of either. Univox makes a pretty cool looking guitar.
Ace Frehley is who made me want to play a guitar. So because of him I've always wanted the Gibson that he and Jimmy Page played. But then I heard Van Halen and was blown away. So now I have a Peavy Wolfgang edition and a Charvel EVH edition. The Charvel is my favorite. It feels good, looks cool, and has great tone:
I love my old Dan Armstrong axe mate ..... Damn thing is degrading as we speak... I have the clear one .... With the the fake wood pick guard..... Great guitar. That thing plays like a dream... The pots are in bad shape.. Vintage axe.... Any ideas?
ive never owned a gibson, I have always dreamed of having a les paul though.............................................. I will say I have a fender acoustic and its a very good guitar IMO.
The thing that bums me out mate is no "Big Muff" or "Rat" pedals Those units were gold.... Still play with plenty of chorus and delay....
You said favorite guitar not pedals. I own and love the big muff distortion pedal. I have tons of electro harmonix effects...
I'm new to this guitar thing but I REALLY love my faded brown Gibson Explorer. Incredibly well balanced and easy to play. I suck because I'm new but my buddy who's played all his life absolutely made it scream. He said his next guitar will be an explorer. As far as cosmetics go I've always really liked the Les Paul style and was looking for en epi when I found the Explorer at a price that I couldn't pass up. I think the black beauty is one of the sexiest guitars ever made.
My Current Gear: -Ibanez Ergodyne 5 String bass -B.C. Rich Warlock guitar -B.C. Rich Mockingbird guitar -Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 Half Stack just sold my Peavey 810 Bass Cab w/VB-2 head tour gear, needed the money. So I'm just using a small Trace Elliot 715x Combo for practice at home. Will probably look into purchasing something else later on.
I'm an Ibanez man mostly. Gibson makes great guitars but for metal their basses blow chunks. I'm running through an Ampeg SVT III head, one 8x10 cab, and one 2x15 cab. My arsenal:
When I get enough money together I'm going to buy another Jackson Kelley. I sold my old one to a friend a long time ago when I needed the money, but I've missed it ever since...
I have several guitars. For rock, I have a Les Paul and several Strats that I've rebuilt with new pick-ups, new frets, new bridge, new tuning machines etc..=) I think the only thing original is the body. =) One of them has a really cool original Dimarzio X2N pick-up in the bridge that I put in. It rips! I have several jazz guitars. My gem is an all original, mint condition 1967 Gibson 175. I have a Heritage L5 copy, which is a company created by the original Gibson guys who left and started their own company. Their stuff is much better than the new Gibson reissue crap. Heritage is all hand made, like the old Gibson stuff since they are the old Gibson people.=D I also have a Benedetto. It's sweet. All hand made. Signed by Benedetto, as all are. Very limited production.
You can tell when a musician truly loves something because they'll put a sticker endorsing it on their instrument. Faith & Football my friend Nice basses! Ampeg are wonderful amps, have you tried gallien kruger?
I love the pic. on the wall! Steve Harris, right? I love Maiden. My good friend, also the bass player in my old band, used to practically worship that guy. He looked and played just like him.(the finger-picking triplets)=D. We used to play a lot of different kinds of music(all originals), but whenever we'd be warming up or just jamming for fun, we'd always play "The Trooper". =D I saw them at MSG. I really like Dave Murray. Cool bro! Where did you meet him?
SG is an awesome guitar! My friend has a few vintage ones from the 60's, totally mint. Great, fast neck with great action. I've always wanted one. Don't know why I never got one.
Yeah.. to me part of the instrument should fit the emotional attachment to the music you try and create. I think this is part of the reason why I don't have an SG. does that make any sense?
True, but if you think about it, a lot of metal guys play them, but also guys like Clapton in "Cream" also played them. Totally different styles. I think it's more about what's in you and you want to say and create rather than the instrument. I hear ya' though.
I didn't know clapton ever played one. I've heard a few of creams songs but have never seen any videos or pictures or anything. That's cool!
Oh yeah! He had that classic one that he painted totally psychodelic. =D It's awesome. You can find lots of pics. with him playing it.
My comp. is not letting me post attachments at the moment, but Google 'Eric Clapton guitars' and you'll see a pic.=)
I think he played that one in the "Strange Brew" video which you can find. Don't know if you've seen that one. It may have been just a regular SG, but I'm pretty sure it was that one. I haven't seen it in awhile. I have it on tape, but I don't use the VCR much anymore. =) Unfortunately the video is black and white, but you can still see the pics. on the guitar if I remember correctly.
And BAM......i'm staring at a Gibson Epiphone ad right now ...how's that for targeted advertising? This might be the first time i've seen a guitar ad on this site....
LOL...faith, football and music. Three of the four most important things in life. Used GK for awhile. Didn't have the punch I wanted. Met 'Arry backstage during the "Virtual XI" tour. Have pictures with all of them, except of course Bruce since he wasn't back yet!
I was digging through some old threads, this is a pretty good one. I've only been playing about a year, I have a pretty cool Les Paul made by Epiphone right now. When I save up some money and make enough progress with my playing I'm going to buy a bad*** Gibson SG. Or maybe a Strat. It's a tough decision. I don't get new guitars until I feel like I can play well enough to deserve one. The first guitar I picked up was some cheap acoustic and I kind of went from there. Anybody who doesn't like AC/DC at least a little might want to check for a pulse.
Last year Fender did a limited edition of 300 of Eddie's Frankenstrat. It's set up exactly to his specifications to match the 'Kramer' guitar he used for years, all the way down to the cigarette burns. Only $25,000, I wish they had made one left handed.
