Hey all. Noticed this forum is not used much. Thought I'd start a meet-n-greet thread to kick off the year by asking people to post: If you own a biz, what is it? Who does it serve? What good/service does it provide for them? And how long ya been doing it? I'll go first. I have a coaching business that coaches soft-skills in business. It serves people looking to improve areas of their business that are being held back by soft-skills and emotional blocks. I have a program that trains them to overcome whichever particular soft-skill area is an issue (confidence, expressing boundaries, letting go of control and delgating, etc) I have been running my business for five years.
I agree this forum ought to be used more often. I am a parish pastor. I employ only a part time office manager, a part time organist, and a very part time sexton who keeps the place clean, rings our tower bell, and digs graves. As a volunteer, I serve as chairman of the board of Genacross Lutheran Services. We are a 20 site, 2500 employee organization which serves 3500-3600 clients. We do everything from rehab to memory care secure units. Also some youth services among the most troubled youth out there. Not runaways but lots of kids who have been "thrown away" by families. If you are in healthcare and like serving vulnerable populations we would love to hear from you. Our area is mostly family owned farms, small manufacturing (mostly in food processing and tool and die), and health/educational services. We are west of Toledo, OH.
Thank you. I have served as a parish pastor for 32 plus years and I suppose broader church work is my hobby. I have served on a number of boards during my time including a 6 year term on the denomination council. I have tried to harness the gifts I believe God has given me for good beyond the four walls of my parish. Some times they are smaller things like chaplain for the local football team. Others are bigger like what I have described. All touch folks lives which after all is my real work. It is good to see what you do. Lots of people don't know how to get out of their own way, allowing "demons", often from their childhood or family of origin, to limit their lives. Getting through them helps the person themselves, their families, and the community at large.
This forum was actually my idea back in the day. It obviously took off like a lead balloon. But, I now work for a company that shows businesses how to comply with OSHA, EPA & DOT regulations. We do compliance gap assessments (mock inspections) and training.
That could be a moving target in the upcoming months and years as this administration has promised to change the landscape. Best wishes for you and your company's future.
