Bottom line is--- Miami was horrible at this last season, and it created numerous 3rd & longs for Henne to try and overcome.
**I'm sure some fans will continue to ignorantly say that this is merely excuse making on Henne's part.

Fix the running game and we begin to do much better on first downs, to me that is obvious, and Henne is one of the most accurate Qb's on 3rd and 5 or less.

In TP's other thread on Henne he mentions that Atlanta has the #2 Special Teams unit, something hopefully Dave Fipp can help the 2011 achieve, as longer returns means shorter fields, shorter opponent returns means better field position for the offense.ToddsPhins, MrClean and djphinfan like this. -

Come on deej you know better than that. Variables aren't considered when the venom is being spewed about Chad Henne. It's all his fault..... all of it. Not just on this board but the majority of the fan base shares this common hatred. :wink2:

In a perfect world you would like to believe that to be true and I admire you for saying so, but in reality that does not represent the mind set of many of this forum.
That is probably the fairest, most accurate statement I've read this offseason D22, my only caveats:
FA still left to go, do they take a run at a Brad Smith? DE/Passrush help?
Trade for a Qb.
Those two things could shift the way this all is viewed.
How are we gonna succeed when Henne sucks so bad? We shoulda traded up from #15 to take a real QB like Mallett, now we're doomed :pity: .

Why even mention Henne overcoming anything, if the topic is our first down performance????

Don't worry, KingMotion is only funning. Him and my son Todd are good forum friends and it was just a playful dig made totally in a fun spirit. There is even a rumor going around that Kingmotion is actually just Todd's alter ego, though this has never been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Well if Henne does have a good year, then everyone who has been running him down will look just as ridiculous.

Here is my confusion--Anyone with a negative opinion on Chad Henne is viewed as anti-Henne. Yet, I'm not going around and posting 8500 topics on making Chad Henne viewed in the limelight.
I'm glad you have all this time to take a part stats, stats that could make anyone look good. It's just you're only amplifying the issue, or adding fuel to the fire that you so have an issue with.
Not everyone is going to like the guy, especially when he's struggled to put up ordinary/average statistics. I appreciate and respect the vigilance in which you support him, but it's become grossly annoying. It's almost as if you seek out confrontation. It's incredibly hypocritical when you claim outrage and disdain for someone that shows a consistent track record of negative feeling towards Chad Henne, when on the other end you're doing the exact same, but it's on the other end of the spectrum. The only difference? I'm not putting it out there, day after day, thread after thread.

I'm just piggy-backing on you here MrClean.
Are we all 10 years old? It's not about being "right". It's about voicing your opinion. If Chad Henne doesn't succeed I'm not going to happy that I was right and you were wrong, or others that believe he is the guy. I'm going to be ticked about the product on the field and not enjoying my Sunday's.
The reciprocating thought can be said. If he does well, I hope that I don't have 85 posters telling me they were right. Because I'm sure I've been right as many times as I've been wrong about dozens of players. I hope he succeeds, because that's directly correlated to my happiness and enjoyment of watching the team.
It's been said before, but you can support the guy and the team, and still not believe he's very good. That's where I am at this point.

Accurate player analysis and projection is important to me, the record is important to me, their posts have inspired me to take another look regardless of my analysis last year on the player..
I'am seeing trends in these variables that make me feel like threads like this, might be critical to putting his development in proper context..The fate of a young player is in question, is it deserved? is a very deep question that demands accuracy for the fate of the player..Unjust criticism and negativity can alter the path of any player..
Reputations are at stake on this one..

That's everything in a nutshell right there, Pods. We become an entirely different offense if the ground game picks up 4 yards on 1st. I've witnessed it with my own eyes last season.

what are you bringin to the table red?
Its not annoying in any facet imo, if you want some surface level conviction than you came to the wrong place.
This fuc%$n post pisses me off....The man has done research and spent time on the most important offseason subject for this teams future and you ridicule...what a joke..

I do not know what your post is bringing to the table other than trying to cause a fight with rdhstlr23

Which is why my theory of the rebirth of the Feature Back dovetails with what they did in the draft TP, DTrain is going to handle the ball more than anyone thinks right now, as in the magic 280 carries level..if all goes well.
I think they see his basic skillset, slasher, falls forward to pick up that extra 1 yd, durable, 40 runs of 10yds or longer, I'd bet they counted his number of negative runs and were really impressed that he did as well as he had with KSU's poor Oline, and THAT is why they traded up to snag him.
Really funny thing is, he is already hearing static about his 40 time, in his interview with Joe Rose he sort of had a chip on his shoulder about his 40 time and not running a 4.3 40..which is all good.

Amen brotha...this forum has become unbearable.
Damn you, Juan Juron! I spit on your ancestors' haircuts...Pffft! LOL
lol. It's more about keeping the book open on him due to these influencing circumstances rather than prematurely saying he's a never will be. If we fix the offense and Chad doesn't succeed, then he doesn't succeed; however, he deserves the fan base's support in the process until the results of the season show themselves. I also believe he deserves a little respect for the effort and leadership he's exhibited this off season. Our entire fan base should be optimistically hoping for his success so that we can spare our 2012 1st rounder for another need. I'll never feel ridiculous for supporting a Dolphin during his developmental time when he needs his fan base's support the most. Heck, anyone can root for a player when they're on top of their game. That's no different than being a fair weather fan in my book.

because 1st down performance impacts the rest of the downs, drive, and game. 3rd and long isn't a favorable situation for an offense to be in, hence having to overcome its inherent potential for failure.

why don't you both show some respect for the poster and his content, you may not agree with it but he didn't say sh$# to you or anyone else, he merely is stating his opinion, don't like it, don't click the thread.

this coming from the antagonizer butting his head in to start stuff as usual. Remind us what you bring to the table besides annoying people?
those who live in glass houses, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I didn't say anything to him. I only mentioned something to you.
unbearable because you don't do anything to improve the quality....... Especially in a thread that deals with offensive success, or lack there of.
heres a novel idea- if you want the quality improved and want to talk about subjects that you advocate, then how about spend hours of your own time researching and creating thread topics rather than complaining about the ones that exist that others have spent considerable time creating.
I'm entitled to make the comment I made at the end of the OP because I've, unlike yourself, have spent hours upon hours doing research about stuff pertaining to our offense, only to have some random, disrespectful, febble-minded member interject a weak "youre just making excuses" comment without including any valid rebuttal whatsoever.
if ANYONE is being disresppectful and dulling the forum, it's the people who trash members for supporting Henne without any counter argument to support their beliefs.

you sure did, indirectly as it was, it was still mocking the OP, for no reason...check it, if you add your 2 cents to reds 2 cents, you get 0 cents.

Now I am mocking him? Interesting logic you have there.
Let me ask you this? What's the difference between him doing hours of research and Omar Kelly or Armando Salaguero doing hours of research? Yet, it's completely OK to not agree with, and in most cases on this message board, we trash the guy?
It's amazing how some people take context and only use it to their advantage. That's exactly what is happening here.
I even said I respect and admire the guy's vigilance to defend him, with posts like these. My point was is that when you post these things every day, it completely dulls the point. It's like "OK" I get it.
Yet, had I started a post every single day to speak of why I don't believe Chad Henne is the right person, I'm viewed as a troll, anti-Dolphins, anti-Henne, a Jets fan, etc. It's a no-win situation for anyone that doesn't agree.
On my end, I'm sure there is no doubt in my mind, that I've become annoying to some of those that continually show support, you know what I don't like that word support, because I support him also (which is another common known fact you all LOVE to look over), but let's say view him as the future guy to lead this team. Because I hop into these threads and continue to give my opinion. Again, what is the difference here? I don't start a new thread every day about it. I don't turn the discussion every time about it. I don't call those people out that don't support my argument. I don't bait them into the conversation you and I are having now with cursing and the like. I don't do any of that. I state my opinion, sometimes more vehemently than others. That's the difference and that my friend is the point of message boards--not a slight on you because I know you understand this.
Funny thing is, if we discussed something else, I'm sure you all would find out there is quite a few things we all agree on!

No need, I am not debating him. I am debating you. have you not been noticing?
