COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Has 17 years of experience, coaching defensive lines his entire career.
His 2014 Oakland Raider defense sacked the opposing quarterback 22 times, including four from highly-touted rookie Khalil Mack. The Raiders defense also allowed just 3.97 yards per rush, eighth-best in the NFL.
In 2013, Williams’ defensive line finished sixth in the AFC in stopping the run, allowing just 107.9 yards per game. During that season, he coached Lamarr Houston to his best season as a pro, as he anchored the defensive line, starting all 16 games and making 71 tackles (55 solo) with six sacks and two forced fumbles.
In 2012, Under his watch, Lamarr Houston earned the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for his performance against Jacksonville on Oct. 21. Houston totaled seven tackles (six solo), one sack and a critical forced fumble in the Raiders’ 26-23 overtime win. In overtime, Houston forced a fumble that was recovered by teammate Joselio Hanson, setting up Sebastian Janikowski’s game-winning field goal.
In 2011 with Texas A&M, the Aggies advanced to the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas and defeated Northwestern in that contest. During that season, Texas A&M led the nation with 51 sacks and finished third nationally in tackles for loss, with an average of eight per game.
In 2010, Williams helped lead a Texas A&M defense that allowed just 101.9 rushing yards per game, ranking 12th in the nation. The Aggies won a share of their first Big 12 South crown in more than a decade and a berth in the Cotton Bowl.
In his first season, A&M improved from 90th to 30th nationally in rushing defense, allowing 130.2 yards per contest.
From 2006-09 with Purdue. Williams coached the entire line each year with the exception of 2008, when he focused solely on the defensive end position. He also served as Purdue’s liaison to the NFL.
During his time at Purdue, Williams tutored the likes of future Dallas DL Anthony Spencer, who led the NCAA in tackles-for-loss and was a first-team All-American before becoming a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2007 and DE Cliff Avril was a third-round selection of the Detroit Lions in 2008.
In 2005, Williams was in his second season at the University of Akron as he helped lead the Zips to the Mid-American Conference championship game in 2005 and the Motor City Bowl. Both the league championship and postseason-bowl appearance were firsts in the school’s history.
From 1999-2001, while at North Carolina A&T, the Aggies ranked third in total defense among NCAA Division I-AA schools in 1999, allowing 259.4 yards per game and fifth in 2000 with 261.2 yards per game. The Aggies were the black college national champion in 1999 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division I-AA playoffs while finishing 10th in the final poll.

DE TONY JEROD-EDDIE – In 2011, he was named an honorable mention All-Big 12 player, as he finished the season with 147 tackles, seven sacks, five pass deflections and a forced fumble. Signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in 2012.
PURDUE
DE CLIFF AVRIL – Upon Williams’ arrival at Purdue, he converted Avril into defensive end for his final two seasons and he recorded 30 of his 35.5 tackles-for-losses and 12.5 of his 13 sacks from that position. He earned second team All-Big Ten honors in 2007. Selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.
DT RYAN BAKER –Named a co-captain prior to his senior season in 2008 before being signed by as a free agent by the Miami Dolphins in 2009.
DL RYAN KERRIGAN – First Team All-American in 2010, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year. Won the Bill Willis Trophy in 2010 as well, which is given to the nation’s top collegiate defensive lineman. Drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.
DE ALEX MAGEE – As a senior in 2008, he had 28 tackles (14 solo) while causing and recovering a fumble. He also had a career-high 3.5 sacks while making six stops behind the line of scrimmage. Drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
DL MICHAEL NEAL – In his final season with the Boilermakers in 2009, he started all 12 games, finishing third on the team in tackles-for-loss with 11.5 and second in sacks with 5.0, while forcing one fumble. Drafted in the second round by the Green Bay Packers.
DT KAWANN SHORT –Received Purdue's Newcomer Award, named a freshman All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com and was selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman team by the Sporting News under Williams in 2009. Later went on to be a second round pick in the NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.
DE ANTHONY SPENCER – In Spencer’s senior season in 2006, he finished the season ranked second in the nation with 26.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage which was the fifth-best season total in Big Ten history at the time. He was named the Purdue football team's Most Valuable Player before being selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

DE KIKI GONZALEZ – Earned second team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2005 as he was the anchor in the middle of the defensive line that ranked second in the MAC and No. 32 in total defense. He aided the defense in posting its top two efforts in Division I-A history, holding Ohio (Nov. 15) to 110 total yards, including 11 on the ground, and Kent State to 116 (Nov. 24).

DL IVAN BUTLER – Earned All-Mid-Eastern Conference honors as he anchored a nationally top-10 ranked defense in 2001.
DL LEONARD RELIFORD –Earned All-Mid-Eastern Conference honors while leading a top-5 nationally ranked defense in 1999. A&T was the Black College National Champions and NCAA 1-AA Playoff Quarter Finalists that season as well.
