Man of late I have been so pessimistic of the Dolphins and everything they do.. Nothing works out for them except when it shouldn't. Im not happy about this win, not at all. yeah a wins a win were 2 games out of some mystical wild card game but lets be honest deep down honesty is this team going anywhere? I don't believe they have a chance in hell of making the Playoff's let alone doing anything in the post season except pad some stats for the opposing teams.
IM not going to get into the stats etc, but this was a game where we should have crushed them offensively and defensively yet we managed to squeak by and ruin next years draft a little more. I get the players are trying to keep their job, I get the coaches are trying to keep their job so they want the win, but as a fan I see the writing on the wall. It's over Johnny.. I don't want more wins I dont want the 14th pick in the draft, I don't want to see what the "starters" on our team can do. I want to see the depth chart now. See what we have at the bottom under this trash we put out on the field week in and out. So our next coach will have some tape and get us back to respectability faster. I want a top 5 pick so we can get an Offensive Lineman who will be a road grader for the next 12 years.
In all honestly I really do not think Ross is as upset about things as you and I are as fans, with all the money he's spent it's a great tax write off for him with the losses in seat sales, etc the Dolphins are a Business to him, not a team he loved and wanted to succeed.
Im going to be taking a little break from the postings I've gotten to negative and I hate it but I just want what we all want and that's a team we can be excited about and ive just fallen out of love with this team.. There is nothing that makes me excited like when we had issues but we had Zach Thomas, and Jason Taylor (still mad he went to jets). So Im sure some of you who always see the glass half full will love someone like me leaving for a bit, but I just don't have that spirit anymore.
Until the off season boys, and ladies have a great holiday and try not the let this team ruin your holiday spirits..

This team has needed to go to an extreme for several years now. Especially the QB. Either play great or fall off a cliff. It would make life much easier, and the team would likely be better off long-term. Hovering in mediocrity is the worst thing you can do.

Nobody is happy about this win or the near future.
The Dolphins have been a source of sadness my entire life, but I'll keep watching them until they don't exist or I don't exist.

It doesn't matter if you're picking 5th or 15th. In the long run, as long as you scout well and get solid coaching you'll be fine. Consistently drafting good players has not been Miami's strength. They've drafted very poorly for the current schemes and are paying for that now. They've actually pulled in a great many FA players but they haven't had the core that you need to be truly successful. -
I was happy to see us stick to the running game. It was clearly our game plan and it worked, even despite the late game fumble.
No I'm not thrilled about a 5-7 team, but some good stuff happened out there today.
Lazor would've never chewed up the clock near the end. Tannehills 3rd and 7 completion basically put the game out of reach. Defense played great all day. Some good stuff.MAFishFan, number21 and adamprez2003 like this. -
It pertains more to the qb. When you get no highs or lows, you're stuck paying a mediocre qb a fat contract in the hopes that he eventually works out. Tannehill never played a single season worth the money we just paid him...but we had to do it. We'll be better off it he suddenly soars (unlikely) or just bombs (again, unlikely). -

The Ravens secondary is completely depleted. They were missing their franchise QB and best WR with a roster full of UDFA's and they DOMINATED time of possession. Our offense, partially due to excellent field position off a turnover managed a meager 8 points.
Terrible team. Terrible statistically at nearly every important category, terrible at home and terrible with the eye test.Finster likes this. -
I think you just have to accept that this is not a good football team.
Outside of WR and maybe RB, there's not one position that we are completely set at and can compete against good teams with.
After I realized that this team wasn't good and likely not going to the playoffs, I watch with a different intent and certainly less emotional investment.
I'm trying to figure out:
1) Is Dan Campbell a good head coach?
2) Is Tannhill our franchise QB or not?
3) How are our rookies and younger players performing?
4) Who do I want to keep and who do we need a major upgrade at?
5) How many years is this team away?
This makes it more about seeing if we are close, far away or what needs to be done to close the gap. The very few moments were I get frustrated about how bad we've been for so long, I remember that this is just a game and that every day above ground is a great day. -
we got a lot of QB pressures by the defense. Even the LBers played okay today, which is rare. -
Question #2 is becoming easier to answer with a no.. harder question is what to do going forward with Tannehill. Question #3 and #4 are where it gets interesting. Parker is showing he's probably not a bust, Phillips is playing well (and will only get better), OV is showing up more but needs to do it consistently.. I think we have good building blocks for the future.
The big holes are at MLB (our DL is fine I think.. we need a good MLB for run defense), extra CB help, and extra OL help. But the biggest issue is who our next HC is. As to how far away are we? That really depends on our HC and QB. Bad decisions at either and we're stuck in mediocrity for a long time. -

Barely beat a Schaub team and barely moved the ball on one of the worst secondaries.. One score from our offense all day which was setup by the defense

I'm gonna try to stop being negative for a post, and just say. I liked our commitment to the run more in this game.
It goes without saying everyone knows this team has more holes than swiss cheese. :shifty:MAFishFan likes this. -
It isn't hard to see that our starting QB is the second best QB on the team and that is not saying much. Been saying that from the beginning. It is what it is. Tannehill has NO business being a starter on ANY NFL team. Terrible, just terrible. No more excuses. People in their right mind must have seen enough by now to throw in the towel. Even the largest homer has to call a spade a spade. Just shake your head terrible like a dumpster fire at the position. Bottom 5 play. Fire the ******* that gave him 96 mill. Burn the whole ****ing thing down

i'm always happy after a dolphin win but this one does feel more hollow. after watching the eagles offense it kind of adds up why ours sucks so bad.

This win still felt like a loss. I have zero faith in ANY of the coaching staff currently on the staff. Tannehill has clearly regressed since last year and I have been a huge Tannehill fan. It's just sad to see. I asked my father who I have been watching Dolphins games with for 20+ years now, "We have to get better sooner than later now, right?". And he simply said "The Browns haven't." Its a scary thought at how long we could remain this miserable.

Yep. I remember somebody said "At least we aren't the Browns" in another thread. Are we really that different?

We're not a good team, fine. But comparing us to the dumpster fire that they are is not right.
We've got a coach whose only been an TE coach running the team, and now an OC who has no business calling plays, and we STILL won. Give us some credit.Pandarilla likes this. -

Coming from a guy who has really been a Tannehill fan, he is definitely an enigma and one of the more frustrating players on the team. There are times where he has been brilliant and at times has looked like he is completely lost out there. It is just so frustrating seeing this team look good and win the offseason on paper and have your hopes crushed when they hit the field...

You know, we were predicted to lose by a lot...

I agree it was a suprisingly unsatisfying win. I'm glad we did, but we managed what, 8 first downs? That's just not good enough 99% of the time. Yes the run game was better but overall, the offense flat out stunk. You just have to feel with that kind of performance we would lose 9 out of 10 times.

I think the scary part is just how much they scaled the kid back (19 attempts). I thought it would be more around 50/50 run/pass, but we went really run-heavy. That says some things about our QB, especially when facing one of the dumpster fire defensive secondaries in the league. -

We need a Coach.
Good coaching can make good/great players out of low 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd rounders. The good teams in this league typically have great QB's, but I think that's more coaching (except maybe when P. Manning was in his prime and Rogers...who are both freaks) than anything. How do you think the Pats have been so good for so long? (Besides the cheating) BB loses everyone (including Brady when he still won 11 games) and just fills in the gap with another player who plays just as well. Yes, right now they are very banged up, and not even his coaching is good enough to account for nearly every WR/TE being hurt, but they are still in each and every game.
Good, stable coaching would put this team over the top. Yes, we need to fix the O-line and LB's and DB's, but a good coach would have us in every game. Scheme...scheme....scheme...
