I think we all cringed when we saw the Teddy Bridgewater drive.
It's almost like he doesn't really want to play.
I know we're so thin in other areas of the roster, but wouldn't it be prudent to dress Skyler Thompson on Thursday?

If Tua is inactive, he will be active. He won't sniff the field though unless Bridgewater gets hurt.
Bridgewater has played in the league at a pro level for a decade, you can't say how he looks over three snaps.
If they have any shot of winning without Tua, it's going to be with Bridgewater quarterbacking.
You don't hand over a 3-0 contender to a 7th round rookie project.texanphinatic likes this. -
Why would Tua be inactive? -

Yeah, I know it's a short week, but I don't think they'll hold him out unless it's so bad he can't throw the ball. -

Armstead and Little are both banged up.
3 guys in the secondary are banged up.
We need active player depth at OL and CB.
It’s a short week in general, so I think we will see more planned player ratations and lower snap percentages. (Especially for defensive starters)
I don’t think we can afford the luxury of having 3 QBs active for Thursday.Last edited: Sep 27, 2022 -

While I agree mostly it doesn’t matter how long someone’s been in the league. If he’s good he’s good and teddy is in the back end of his career and going to lead us anywhere IMHO skylar is the future at backup so let’s get him some reps.Phin McCool and resnor like this. -
You give Thompson reps in a game where the score is 35-0 in the 4th quarter. He's not ready yet for prime time yet. -

He's taking the Alex Moran approach to backup QB.dolphin25 likes this. -
While I agree you can’t judge him on only 3 snaps. I get that but all throughout preseason, with both Bridgewater and Thompson under the EXACT same conditions, it was obvious one quarterback had COMMAND of the offense and one looked like garbage. One produced and the other faltered.
Bridgewater had only one GOOD season and he’s been living on the reputation of that season ever since. He’s not good and as Dorf said, he’s on the backend of his career.
If it were up to me, and of course it isn’t, I’d put Thompson in for Tua over Bridgewater in a New York minute!Phin McCool, Ronnie Bass and KeyFin like this. -
Agreed. I wasn't very happy about bringing Bridgewater in. -
Listen, I hate Bridgewater as a starting quarterback. I loved bringing him in as the backup. Hell, there were Tua haters here and in the media that felt he should start over Tua.
I'll take him for one game, because he has won games in this league, over a rookie who has never played an NFL snap. This is a contending team now, with it looks like it's starting quarterback for the future settling in. I could give a damn about grooming a backup right now, I want to win. Bridgewater gives the best chance right now, for one game.dolphin25 likes this. -
Thompson is an unproven rookie. That is true. So has every other quarterback in the league. Marino, Elway, Aikmen, Roethlisburger, Herbert, Lawrence…
Bridgewater has a proven track record…of losing every starting job he’s had. Translation? He’s not good and if he’s not good, why would you put in a player that’s not good and has gone from team to team to team?
If we don’t have Tua for a game or two, knowing Bridgewater’s history, I’d rather go with a quarterback that impressed well enough to make the 53 man roster and see if he rises rather than a washed up quarterback who only had 1 good season and has nothing since?
That’s just my take. It takes a lot for a quarterback to impress me and Thompson did just that.dolphin25 likes this. -
I don't think he'd stink, however. He led the league in preseason for passer rating and looked pretty darn competent. The kid could surprise us, while we all know exactly what we'll get with Bridgewater. Teddy will give us safe, minimal execution and he won't lose the game. We know that. But he likely won't win it for us either.
With Tua, I think we're 4-0...so hopefully this conversation is meaningless and he does start. At the moment, I think all 3 of our prior wins came against better teams than where Cinci is today. -
It’s all a smokescreen protocol to make it look like he was truly injured and had nothing to do with a head injury. Nobody mentioned how he shook his head when he tried to get up. Sorry but dude was about knocked out. He came back and played good enough to win he will play Thursday. Every week is must win at this point…

IF Tua is out, activate Skylar but start Teddy, give him a half and see where we stand, if we bring in Skylar his first time is probably best coming off the bench and not starting.

If they are losing at halftime and Bridgewater is playing uninspired, then I have no problem throwing him in. I don't think it will happen no matter what. -
Were you a Fitzpatrick guy? He lost every single job he had and was a loser. People LOVED him here. -
They paid Bridgewater, he's going to get the work if Tua can't go. Doesn't mean I agree with it, nor is it who I'd rather see playing. I'd most certainly rather see Thompson get the chance. Bridgewater is a very uninspiring player to watch, but you're going to get a safe performance out of him. Veteran quarterback that plays a mistake free game.
Last week wasn't really an ideal situation for him. Coming in relief for Tua towards the end of the first half right in the middle of a drive isn't going to always provide you with great results. However, if Bridgewater has a few days to prep himself as a starter, he's going to do ok. Not great, but he's not going to lose the game for you either. With that said, he damn sure can't win one for you. We would be dead in the water with him trying to come from behind. In order to win with Bridgewater, the defense would have to make plays and we would need to have success running the football.dolphin25 likes this. -
We all really did Teddy dirty from that one drive on Sunday.
He played fine last night. I think he's definitely better than the next 8 or so QBs the Dolphins have on their schedule.
They won't play a better QB until they face Herbert in December. -
